Whispering Pines is located on Fidalgo Island. It is about a five minute drive from La Conner and about a fifteen minute drive from Anacortes. The home is between Martha's Bay and Similk Bay near Hope Island. From Anacortes you can take a ferry to the San Juan Islands or to Victoria BC.
You can also enjoy great restaurants and gift shops in both La Conner and Anacortes both truly great destinations. Also nearby is Deception Pass Bridge a must see, and two wonderful state parks Bowman Bay and Deception Pass Parks. There are also many fresh water lakes and views as far as the eye can see at Mount Erie Lookout.
Enjoy the tulip Festival in La Conner in March and April along with the quilt walk show. And festival throughout the year.

Elisabeth & Thomas Freeland We vacationed in this area from Arizona for ten years before making the move to Fidalgo Island. It was love a first sight. We have a beautiful store in Anacortes called Elisabeth's Cottage By The Sea which we run year round. We sell jewelry, beads, wine, gift items and much more. We also give silversmithing and bead classes. The store is located at 619 Commercial Ave.
The Owner purchased this house in 2009
We purchased this home because it is such a peaceful and quiet area with an amazing water view. We love being on the deck and enjoying watching the eagles, herons and boats go by. The house is on .69 of an acre so it feels very secluded. It has many pines trees, and is truly magical when the wind blows through the pine trees. Hence the name 'Whispering Pines'. One of the most amazing things about this area is that there are no city lights around and the stars are much brighter because of it. Take a sleeping bag outside in the backyard and enjoy stargazing.
Whispering Pines is a 3 bedroom 2 bath home with a living room looking out to the water and islands. It also has a family room with a great entertainment center to enjoy movie night with the whole family. The dining room seats 10 at the 8 foot long table that also looks out to the view and leads to the great deck. The stairs to the beach are just a few feet from the yard so you can enjoy walking on the shore. There is a bar b que on the deck for those outdoor cookouts.
The view is awesome, and there's wonderful evenings on the deck or beach. We stayed here with our 6 children we all fit comfortably. The house has a nice cabin feel to it.
We rented this for a job in LaConner. Our employees called me the first night praising the home. It was only about 10 minutes from where they were working and was the perfect answer. This was a last minute decision and I found the owners to be very helpful to help meet our needs. Thinking of having a girls week-end soon. Will definitely rent from them again. Thanks for sharing your home with us. Bev - Tacoma
My wife and I spent our anniversary here and had a great time. Everything was as advertised on the website. We spent most of our time at the house enjoying the views from almost every room in the house. We did have to take long stairs to the beach but it was worth every step. We will definitely be back.
The pictures on the website are from a different year, the yard was grossly overgrown, the barbeque was filthy and stinky, every piece of outdoor furniture was dirty, no corkscrew (yikes!), the deck is in need of repair...don't put a large group on it at once, you may end up in a you tube video. The driveway and path to the house is really steep, so if you have anyone with trouble walking you need to assist them. If your party is larger than 6, be aware, the pullout beds are terrible! We pulled the futon onto the floor because the frame was not staying together. All of this aside, the view is beautiful and if you are able to get there, the beach is nice but rocky. Don't expect to build sandcastles. Great for rockhounds! Bring your own scope or binoculars because the ones there are "just for looks". Except for the floors, I'm sure the place looked better when we left than when we arrived. Overall, I would not go back. One piece of advise to the owner is to at least put a sign out front for your guests to easily identify the property from the road.
We so enjoyed the views from nearly every window and of course the deck. Yet the house is dated, especially the kitchen appliances. The BBQ grill not only did not work, it actually sent blow-back into our faces. Scary! We also had no hot water the first evening, although it was repaired the next morning.
And just a FYI unless your car is an automatic or your really good with a clutch, the driveway is an accident waiting to happen.
We had a great time! My Brother got married in Mt.Vernon. The house slept our group of 10 very well. We hosted a brunch for our large family the day after the wedding. The only negative's would be the driveway and the stairs to the water. If you need a work out you are in luck! :)
