This is a beautiful location right on the shore of Lake Michigan and we fell in love with it the first time we saw it.

It is close to Manistique for groceries and essentials and yet far enough away to be quiet! Restaurants: Three Seasons- good for breakfast/lunch; on US2 by Gray Wolf Lodge. Marleys-quaint, old bar for good burgers; 127 Walnut in Manistique Trading Post- deli sandwiches; off US2 just past the river Three Mile Supper Club- know for great fish and steaks, has a salad bar; check or cash only; West of town on CR 442 Main Street Pizza- take out only; Cedar and Walnut Manistique also has Subway, Pizza Hut, Hardys, Arbys, Dairy Kream soft serve ice cream Dreamland- best pasties in the UP, homemade bread/sausage; 15 miles east of cottage Chamberlain’s- in Curtis, northeast of Manistique, but worth the drive Bear Trap or Dog Patch if you go to Munising.

WONDERFUL STAY, LIVING IN COUNTRY LUXURY WITH WILDNESS ALL AROUND

  • 5 of 5
We had a great week in this beautiful northern Michigan home. Truly luxury with wilderness all around - a great place to relax and enjoy nature. Some specifics - very well appointed throughout. The kitchen is very well stocked and there is absolutely no need to eat out with what this home provides and a great, reasonable priced grocery store within easy driving distance. The home is spacious with wonderful views of the lake from all rooms except the downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms. A full size washer and dryer were great to have and we took full advantage of them. Plenty of closet space and dressers to store items so there was no living out of suitcases. The bed was outstanding, I sometimes have difficulty sleeping on a different bed the first several nights but this bed and bedding were great. The owners were excellent communicators, providing detailed information about sights to see, places to dine and shop - they were very responsive to all communications. To sum it up a beautiful location and home, very comfortable and cozy with everything to make your stay relaxing and comfortable. Spectacular sunrises and evening sky over the lake. The stars at night were breathtaking.
I would highly recommend this home be high on your place to visit list. I agree with all the other reviews...pictures do not due this home justice.

VERY NICE!

  • 5 of 5
This was my family's second stay in this house. It is very clean and has everything you could need for cooking, entertaining. We enjoyed swimming off of the limestone beach which is a lot of fun but not recommended for weak swimmers. There are a lot of nice beaches around and it is only a short drive into town. Close to lots of other UP attractions as well. Looking forward to another future visit.

I can't say enough good things about this vacation home! It was truly one of the best vacations that I've had and I would not hesitate to rent it again! I agree with all the other reviews...pictures do not due this home justice. It was beautiful, inside and out! Spacious, well kept and very clean are just a few of the positive things that I can say about it. We had more than enough to do and could have easily stayed another week. If you chose to rent this home, you will not be disappointed!

GREAT PLACE TO DECOMPRESS AND RELAX!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I just returned from spending a week at this cabin. Everything that the owners stated about the cabin was correct. My husband loves to cook and he found that the kitchen was well supplied with all the items he needed. We never ate out, not with a good cook in the kitchen! The cabin was very clean, everything was in good working order. The owners were very helpful and were prompt in returning emails and phone calls. From the porch looking out at Lake MIchigan, we saw hummingbirds, squirrels, rabbits, deer, ducks, geese and a bald eagle. Not bad!!!!! Would highly recommend this to couples or families. Thanks to these owners for sharing their lovely home!

WHAT A GREAT PLACE!

  • 5 of 5
This is a very comfortable cabin that easily accommodated our family of 4. (You could easily bring a larger family here!) I was impressed by the number of items that were provided for us, including dishwasher detergent, laundry soap, paper towel, spices, etc. The kitchen was very well stocked as well - you really only need to bring your own food.
I was a little concerned booking a vacation for my family in the UP, wondering if we'd have enough to do. This certainly was not the case! In fact, there were several things we wanted to do that we just ran out of time for. Manistique is a nice town, with a decent variety of restaurants, nice playgrounds/parks, a movie theather, shops, etc.
My husband and I both have stressful jobs and enjoyed the opportunity to relax & enjoy the beautiful area with our children.

LUXURY AT THE DOOR OF THE WILDERNESS

  • 5 of 5
My family and I stayed at this home July 10-17, 2010 and found it to be the best place we have stayed in Michigan - and that is over a 12 year period. The price was very reasonable and the accomodations were very nice. The property was very clean and well-maintained. Plenty of room for our group of four, with the teens sleeping downstairs and hubby and I upstairs in our own master suite with bath. The king bed sits exactly opposite of the large upper front windows. Truely, just raising one's head in the a.m. offers a spectacular view of the lake. All but the bathrooms and downstairs bedrooms have a wonderful view of the lake and beach. There was plenty of closet space and dressers so we could stow the suitcases and not live half our of suitcases. The kitchen is wonderfully stocked with dinnerwarer, cook/bakeware - right down to a great assortment of spices. Ample cupboard space for a week's worth of groceries was nice. Having the full-size W/D was very nice, as was having the sweeper, etc... to keep things tidy. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and reading, sunning, napping - all the while to the sounds of the waves and the lake breezes. Two huge bald eagles flew over the deck and landed for a brief while right out front. Had we only had our cameras at hand! We are beach lovers and enjoyed walking the limestone shoreline, interspersed with areas of sand. The shoreline to the east of the cabin is just gorgeous with its diverse ecosystems. Saw osprey and heard coyotes at night. And the stars? Unbelieveable! Truely! I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for affordable luxury with the benefits of the wilderness truly around the bend and the convenience of a nice grocery store (w/reasonable prices) and shopping just 5 miles away. This property is very quiet and peaceful. Yet well-stocked with games for the kids adn books for all ages. Thank you to the owners for offering this beautiful place at which to retreat, relax, and reconnect.
Other: We enjoyed eating at 3 Seasons Restaurant. We also visited Crisp Point Lighthouse on Lake Superior - well worth the day trip and the 18 miles of dirt road to reach it off the highway. Lovely beach and agate hunting. We began that day with a visit to Seney Wildlife Refuge in the morning, going on to Tacquamenon Falls and lunching at the brew pub before heading to Crisp Point Lighthouse. It was a full day, but very much enjoyed.
