Xaghra is one of the oldest villages in Gozo. History spans from the Greek Mythology where, Calypso Cave, which is located in this village, is located. It is also home to the gantija megaliths, the Xaghra Stone Circle, as well as underground features Xerri's Grotto and Ninu's Cave. Xaghra Parish is dedicated to Our Lady of Victories, locally known as 'il-Bambina'. The liturgical feast is celebrated on the 8th day of September each year and is a crowd puller as it as the last feast in the summer fiesta season. There are also other traditional fiestas organized in this village and Margerita is uniquely located in one of the principle streets in the center of the village where most of the processions and festivities are organized.
