BEAUTIFUL home and views. Home was clean and neat. Owner was awesome, took us for ride on his sailboat, hot tub was a nice treat as well. Wouldn't have changed a thing about this house. Rep from rental company met us as planned on time. Tip for first timers: shut the windows at night. We thought the island breeze and sounds of the waves would be nice and relaxing, and they were. But the chickens and roosters on the islands are up later than we were, figured out to shut the windows the second night and problem solved. Beautiful, beautiful place. Will definitely be back, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Our family of 5 had a great stay at Cindy & John's villa. The house is built with beautiful blue stone, with a porch overlooking Coral Bay, and a hot spa to soak and relax after a day of beach or hiking. The furnishing are not new but comfortable, and kitchen is well equipped, so we saved a fortune by cooking many of the meals. A rental vehicle (SUV best) is a must, and driving to everywhere (Cruz Bay, ~20 min, beaches, 20~30 min) is thrilling. The only thing is that bug bites are frequent when we forgot to apply bug repellent, but that's a given with a lush tropical island.
The location was perfect for us. Located slightly above Coral Bay with a nice view and was centered for our adventure on St. John. Snorkeling Brown Bay, Haulover north and south, Salt Pond Bay, Hanson Bay,and Long Bay were the best places to snorkel. Grabing a burger or Mai Mai sandwich at Skinny Legs or Shipwrecks and a cold one after snorkeling was perfect. The place was clean and appealing with always a nice breeze blowing from the bay. A day sail with John was a plus and the history of the boat, the people and St.John was cool. Cindy was helpful on the pretravel and what ever you need there.
Thanks again John & Cindy & Pebbles for the stay.

My husband and I and our son and his girlfriend stayed at Calabreeze for a week. It was great. The house is set up really well for two couples. The separate entrance gave the lots of privacy. The loft was bigger than I expected and would have been a great place for kids. The kitchen had everything we needed and one thing we really wanted--a dishwasher! The deck had a nice view and a good area for eating. We cooked almost all of our dinners, so enjoyed it on many evenings. It's easy to find. The driveway is a bit of a thrill ride, but we had no problems.
This was our second trip to St. John and we found the bugs worse this time. We did get chewed up during our dinners. We loved Coral Bay. Billed as the "quiet side" of the island, we found that included roosters crowing, dogs barking and the occasional donkey and goat joining in! It all added to the charm of Coral Bay. You are a short drive to Salt Pond Bay, which we found to be our favorite snorkeling spot. You also have easy access to the North beaches.
John and Pebbles aka Killer--took us out for a wonderful day of sailing. It was so much fun.
Overall, this was a wonderful place for us and fit our needs very well. The only downside for us was no WIFi--but we somehow managed! I would recommend for two couples or for a family with elementary aged and up kids.
We have visited St. John before and we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay at Villa Calabreeze. This was perfect for our "home base" to explore the island! The villa looks beautiful in these photos, but much better in person. The home is very convenient and has everything that you will need: Kitchen is full of equipment (Blender, Coffee Maker, Ice Maker) Beach chairs, bath towels, fun books with great exploring suggestions ("Off the Beaten Path in St. John"...Loved it!) The outside deck has incredible breezes throughout the entire day, but more so in the late afternoon! The hot tub was very soothing after long days snorkeling and hiking all over St. John. The owner was very kind and took us out on a beautiful sailboat ride on "Calabreeze", and was a highlight to our trip!
The Villa is walking distance to some great restaurants, liquor store, convenience market: Island Blues and Aqua Bistro were fantastic! Great to walk down to at night for a cocktail and listen to music! We loved the Northside beaches (Maho, Francis, Salomon and Honeymoon: our favorites), but we especially loved exploring the "pebble beaches" on this side of the island (Coral Bay/East End) where we had the best snorkeling on the island!
I would recommend the villa to two couples. There is a separate entrance for the 2nd bedroom, which adds to their privacy. There IS a loft with extra beds (really cool), which would be great for older kids, but make sure that they are ok with climbing up and down a sturdy ladder :)
This villa is very nice, quaint, cozy, convenient and at a VERY reasonable rate for a rental home.
Our family just returned from a 6 night stay at the lovely Villa Calabreeze. The villa was very clean, had nightlights, fans, a great kitchen, towels, linens and laundry facitilies...it was a pleasure to stay there. The view from the deck was delightful and our children enjoyed the hot tub. We went to different beaches (Maho, Francis, Haulover, Waterlemon, Trunk, Cinnamon) each day and it was a comfort knowing we'd return to the villa to relax and enjoy the evening. We ate in Coral Bay at Aqua Bistro and Donkey Diner, both excellent. Pirate John was a great host and took us a fun voyage on his sailboat with his dog, Pebbles. We couldn't have asked for a better place to enjoy our break! Thanks!
