Niseko is located on the North island of Hokkaido, Japan - near the international airport of Sapporo. It was originally a thermal spring spa resort known only to the local Japanese, but was eventually discovered by outsiders looking for the perfect snow experience. Niseko is now famous around the world for its exceptional powder snow. From December to April each year the resort is covered in a blanket of up to 15 metres of pristine powder snow. There are over 50 kms (30 miles) of groomed slopes across four linked resorts: Hirafu, Hanazono, An'nupuri and Higashiyama.
Niseko is now one of the fastest growing ski resorts in the world, and at the heart of Niseko is Hirafu, the best appointed village in the area. With its unique Japanese character and mix of international influences, Hirafu offers an experience not found anywhere else in the world. English is widely spoken as the resort was founded primarily by Australians looking for powder snow in their Summer period.
Fabulous food, fascinating culture and fantastic snow. Go ahead and do something different this year – SKI JAPAN!
During the rest of the year (May-November), Niseko is well known for outdoor pursuits like golf, white water rafting, fly fishing, road cycling, mountain biking, and hiking. With its mild temperatures, Niseko provides the perfect escape from the humid summer experienced by many Asian cities. With its wealth of activities, delectable seasonal produce, renowned hot springs and breathtaking scenic beauty, Niseko offers an exceptional destination year round. Niseko has it all.

I am in my 50's and live in Australia.
Geoff Kendall purchased this condo in 2007
I bought this apartment in Japan to take advantage of the amazing powder snow during the Australian Summer period (Dec-April) and because I really enjoy the Japanese cultural experience - especially the food! My teenage year old daughter also loves it.
Apart from the snow sports, there is nothing more enjoyable than soaking in a traditional Japanese onsen (natural thermal hot pools) followed by a traditional Japanese meal of sushi, teriyaki, yakitori, etc... The views of Mt. Youtei (an extinct volcano similar in size and shape to Mt Fuji) are spectacular.
Yama Shizen West is an excellent property in Upper Hirafu (translation - closer to the gondola!) and this apartment is fitted out neatly with all mod cons and made for a really enjoyable stay - beds very comfortable. Our view from the kitchen and lounge of the mountain was amazing. Within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The access to the ski valet every afternoon was great - we loved it! HT staff helped organise transfers, lift tickets, equipment hire and lessons and followed up promptly on anything we asked about. Would stay again!
The apartment is perfectly located between all three main ski lifts; Family chair, Welcome centre and Grand Hirafu. The views are spectacular from every room, especially looking straight at the mountain slopes and night skiing. Several of the best bars and restaurants in the Village are all walking distance (some are on the same street) from the building. We never needed a car the entire 10 days of our stay. The Concierge staff at Hokiedo Tracks are very helpful and eager to please. The cafe and restaurant inside the building are super convenient. The apartment itself is of a very high standard equipped with everything you need. We can't wait to return.
Fantastic luxurious spacious apartment with well equipped kitchen. Wonderful views of slopes. Easy access to gondola (ski valet service made life easy). HT staff very helpful for all our needs - ski tickets available on arrival and helped with transfers and restaurants etc. Dinner at Bistro Le Cochon under the apartment was wonderful as was our Yakatori Yamanchu Japanese in lower village. Ski pass now allows free bus transport to Kutchan where the newer Lucky Supermaket is well located with all needs. Gyms were at J Sekka and M Hotel for those needing to train! We were lucky to have light fluffy powder everyday of our 8 days of skiing - nothing beats Niseko pow pow!! Had a fantastic ski holiday and time there! Thanks for a great stay!
Just spent a week at this stylish and well appointed apartment. Apartment had everything needed - very comfortable and enough cupboards, appliances and amenities for cooking and washing/drying clothes and ski gear. Concierge team were helpful and friendly and their service seamless...lift tickets waiting for us and transfers organised and easy.
There were a number of options of accessibility to the mountain - walk/ski to Ace Family lift, walk to Gondola or shuttle up to Ace quad. View up the mountain is exceptional and on NYE was prime viewing spot to torchlight parade and fireworks.
Fantastic views and Excellent location close to all amenities and ski lifts. Well appointed apartment with everything needed to make you feel at home. Thanks for a very memorable stay.
We recently hired the whole apartment for a week and had an amazing experience. Having breakfast / afternoon tea with a large window view of the mountain is just amazing. The design is very stylish, and 'extras' include everything you would require,(ie hair dryer, ipod dock, cd player - even an Australian plug)
The owner of this property is extremely helpful and the help doesn't stop there, upon arrival the conceirge team will help you with anything else you require.
Only constructive comment is that the images online although great, don't do it justice, its so much better in real life!
Very happy to reccomend for any group of people ( or for a couple - who can hire part of the apartment)
Niseko is the centre of powder snow skiing in the Northern Winter (Dec to April). In addition to the many skiing options there are fabulous restaurants, onsens (thermal hot pools) and bars - plenty to see and do. It is also a beautiful area to visit in Spring, Summer and Fall if you like stunning rural scenery, golf, cycling, fly fishing, white water rafting. Plenty of local festivals to choose from.
