Dear Chrissie and Bruce, We all enjoyed our stay in your cottage so much we are already talking about how much we can't wait to come back! (Even our friends are talking about perhaps renting from you next year) And I just wanted you to know how nice it was having you right next door so if we needed anything-which we did (When we locked ourselves out of a bedroom) You and your husband were more than happy to help us out. You are truly great people and I hope we can keep in touch for many years to come!!! See you soon!
I booked a stay and I couldn't be more pleased with how wonderful and helpful Chrissie was to me. She was very easy to keep in touch with and kindly answered all my questions. She even offered me a private showing. So I took a drive down to the shore to the beach house where I met Chrissie face to face. She was ever so sweet and wonderfully helpful. She walked me around the entire property and every thing looked pristine. In the Kitchen you have everything you need and dishes and appliances are all super clean!!! The living room is comfortable and the bedrooms are roomy. I didn't smell any odor or mildew smell coming from any of the bedrooms or any where else in the house, nor did I smell any air freshener as if the smell was being covered up (One of my concerns)
The newly renovated bathroom is just gorgeous. We love the his/hers double bowl sinks. And the first floor laundry section off the bathroom is great! The shower is new, clean and comfy with a little seat built into it for sitting. Very Cute!
Out side a backyard shower a picnic area and a gas grill. That will also be quite a great convenience! The area is very quiet and peaceful.
The houses in the area are all well kept and there is a beautiful castle up the road which was once a hotel that had accommodated wealthy visitors such as Howard Hughes and the Rockefellers and actors Ethel Barrymore, Charlie Butterworth, Helen Hayes and Charlie Chaplin.” In the era of Prohibition, the Inn was beset with gambling raids and rum-running operations that lasted well into the 1930's.
The beach is quiet and clean. We walked there in about a minute or less up to the beach where the water was calm, shallow and fairly warm! The kids enjoyed it. Its geat for the younger ones who just like to wade in the water or play in the sand.
Well, I hope this review was helpful and I will be sure to write more after our stay.
My family and I stayed at this house for the last three years and were always very satisfied. The owner is always ready to help in any way possible. . I'm very excited to go there again this year. They have a new bathroom with a washer and dryer. How convenient is that..The yard is big, the house is very clean, with plenty of parking and steps to the beach. It is so restful sleeping with the wonderful smell and breeze of the salt water ocean air. I highly recommend this beach house for your next vacation.
We rented here last year and were completety dissatified with our stay. The 3rd bedroom had a overwhelming musty odor..so bad that we could not have our children sleep in it. We complained and complained, but these complaints were met with denial and refusal to act to reduce the smell of the room. For over 2 weeks, we were told that a dehumitifier would be purchased to help with the smell...this never happened. The owner (who lives right next door) made no attempt to make our stay more pleasant, and when we asked for some kind of refund (as we paid for a 3 bedroom house, but were only able to use 2 bedrooms) she just flately denied that there was a smell or an issue at all. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOUSE.
Old Saybrook is a quaint little New England town with a stunning Main Street, yet, bursting with all the necessary stores close by. Our beach is Cornfield point, a private association whom an attendant maintains daily. The association clubhouse has many family activities. There is a basketball court, tennis court, playground and a boat launch. There are scenic drives, bike routes, and sunset cruises. Just minutes away is the Fenwick Golf course that is open to the public, where our famous Katherine Hepburn resided. In addition, you are only 30 minutes away from Foxwoods/ Mohegan Sun Casinos, and the Mystic Seaport. Also, the Clinton and Tanger Outlet are only minutes away.Take a drive through the other scenic towns like Ivoryton, Haddam and a Essex, including the Essex steam train ride right along the water for an after dinner treat from one of the many zagat rated restaurants. Most of all, enjoy the best sunsets of your life over the sound!
