Mauna Lani Terrace H 103 has it all.... it is the closest corner unit to the ocean, with ocean views from every room. Direct access across the lawn to the warm pool, spa, sauna, BBQ and entertainment area is perfect for children and families.
The Villa has 9'6' high ceilings, solid mahogany shutters in every room, teak cabinets, 3 separate lanais and a wet bar, marble counters in bathrooms, spacious bedrooms and great room.
The views are fabulous through the palm trees, past the ponds to the blue Pacific and the evening sunsets. The feeling is one of classic old Hawaii with filled with tranquility and outstanding beauty.
A beautiful short stroll to the south under the palm trees along the ocean to Mauna Lani's favorite Beach Club for sunning, diving, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, whale watching. A similar stroll to the north to the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel restaurants and bars for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Mauna Lani Resort has been my home away from home (New Zealand)for over 30 years and has offered me the perfect resort lifestyle, one that has made life in Hawaii for me an incredible experience, one that I would not have found anywhere else. Here I have enjoyed countless hours golfing, diving, snorkeling, beaching, dining the list goes on and on..a rich and wonderful experience that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy... now here it is. Friends and family have shared this lifestyle and have taken with them great memories of their great times here at Mauna Lani.

Mauna Lani Terrace H 103 is nestled oceanfront in the very center of Mauna Lani Resort, surrounded by all the resort amenities, far away from any other residences, within an easy walk to the Beach Club, Mauna Lani Sea Adventures, the Golf Clubhouse, the tennis Spa and Fitness Center, the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel restaurants, the Shops at Mauna Lani (with Tommy Bahama, Ruth's Chris, Foodland and more)and the ancient Hawaiian fishponds.

3 things to consider about this place:
1) Location of Mauna Lani Terraces - GREAT! One of the few lower density places that is oceanfront Hawaii. I want to find a similar place on Oahu (i.e., I like that island the best for stays > 1 week). Also, we mixed up the daily routine between snorkeling on the edge of the reef (swimming from Mauni Lani Hotel to Beach Club), Beach Club, Mauni Lani Hotel beach, Mauni Lani Hotel pool, Fairmont beach, Fairmont pool and a few driving destinations (e.g., Pololu, Waimea, Hapuna)
2) Location of this unit within Mauna Lani Terraces - IDEAL! The patio spills out onto the grass. As such, my kids flowed back and forth between the unit, patio and the grass. The pool is about 50 steps from our patio. Importantly, it's really quiet there (i.e., not obnoxious to our unit) and it's fenced (i.e., don't have to worry about kids wandering in without supervision). The beach (300 feet away?) is directly on the other side of the fishpond (80 feet away). So, you get the ocean breeze and view. Finally, the fishpond is bounded by lava rocks ... keeps toddlers out.
3) The unit - Pretty good. Pros - Has everything you need, good light and air (fans), well maintained and immaculately cleaned. Cons - I'm not a big fan of carpet on principal and especially in a beach location. The fixtures are a little dated but work fine. The master bed was a bit soft for my back. These, however, are minor issues.
We could not have imagined a better condo for our family vacation. This was our family's third visit to the Big Island. Our first visit, we stayed at The Hapuna Prince which was lovely. Five years ago, we stayed at The Mauna Lani Resort and loved it. While staying there, we kept noticing these condos on our walk over to the beach. With our two kids being teenagers now, we thought it would be nice to have a little more room (plus a washer). What a great decision to stay in H103. It is truly a wonderful condo. The buildings and the layout of the condos is suburb. Wonderful quality throughout. Exquisite grounds full of lush tropical plants, ancient fish ponds, large lawns and miles of paved paths for walking and jogging.
This condo is on the ground floor which we loved. We used the back door much more than the front. The pool is steps from the back door. You can see the ocean from the back patio with no obstructions. The walk to the sandy beach is short (8-10 min) and very lovely. The snorkeling there is excellent. We saw turtles and manta ray.
The two bedrooms are spacious, quiet and comfortable. I slept like a baby. The master has a view of the ocean, while the 2nd bedroom looks out onto a gorgeous tropical courtyard. The bathrooms were wonderful too. The master bath could be on the cover of a magazine, very elegant. We loved that there we're live plants (orchids!) in every room, even the baths. There were 2 boogie boards to use, plus a nice beach umbrella. The owner was very easy to work with. We found it very hard to leave and I am already dreaming of a return to this condo and The Big Island.
We felt right at home in this lovely condo. It was exactly as represented. And it was perfect! The furniture was comfortable, the view was spectacular. The pool and grill area was right beside us making dinner times easy and relaxing. It seemed that we had a giant backyard to ourselves, even though it was community property. The kitchen was well stocked to serve not only ourselves but various company throughout our stay. The owner even decorated for Christmas which was a real treat. A few items we found to be inoperable; we notified the manager who replaced these items quickly. The walk to the beach is easy and beautiful. We stayed for over 2 weeks and our only regret was leaving. If this is the area you are considering, you can't do better than this condo.
We had a wonderful stay at our Mauna Lani Terrace apartment. The location could not be better and the apartment had all we needed. Lots of details and luxury throughout the unit. Being in the ground floor was convenient to get to the pool and beach and was still very private. Phil was very helpful and even had boogie boards and beach towels for us. The property is very well kept and there are lots of things to do close by. Highly recommended. Thanks, we will be back!!!
On the basis of location, this condo does not disappoint. The view from the ground level lanai across the lawn and fish ponds to the ocean is superb. The entire complex is extremely well cared for and private and quiet. Some days there was no one at the beautiful adjacent pool area which has 2 pools, hot tub, lounge area and bar-b-ques. Registering through the Mauna Lani Hotel, which is next door gave us access to the beach chairs, fitness centre with lap pool and tennis courts, classes at the hotel such as yoga under the Milo tree every morning ( for a fee) A newspaper was delivered each morning. Very nice. There were plenty of towels in the condo as well as lots of live orchids. The building is well built and still has all the original finishings of the 1980's, which are good, however some things need updating....such as the carpet, which is getting pretty tired and stained. The furniture and beds are comfortable.
There are no beach chairs, mats, beach towels or coolers to use when exploring the island. I would think these would be almost a necessity.
Also, to my amazement, there are no extra sheets(!). I was instructed by Phil the property manager to contact the hotel about this and was informed that there would be a charge of around $70 for sheets to use. Yikes! I refused on principle. We stayed here for a month, so one set was an issue when laundering was necessary. For a few dollars and a trip to Costco all of the above could be supplied to make things more pleasant.
The main television is fairly small.
There is an endless parade of teeny ants through the kitchen but there are oodles of kitchen dishes, pots and pans, etc. However there are no condiments or any other miscellaneous groceries or sunscreens etc. left by other guests aside from salt and pepper. The cupboards are bare!
Yes, this unit should have some things added and is in need of some updating and a little TLC but the grounds and the entire area is very beautiful. The property has lots to offer in walking trails along the beach going both north and south. The grocery store at the shopping plaza at the traffic circle is great. Tommy Bahamas restaurant is very good. The Musiquarium restaurant up the road is magical. This was a good place for us to be to explore the island.
This unit was clean and well-maintained, well-stocked with hotel towels & toiletries as well as kitchen amenities (glasses, pots, etc.). It was nicely decorated with real orchids.
Best of all is the location with the back door opening onto a big lawn, a nice view over the lagoon to the ocean, and just a few steps to the Terraces' quiet pool (which has the safety of a key-entrance, though parents of non-swimmers should be aware that the gate does not always shut tightly). No stairs or big production to go outside. With three elementary school age children who need to stretch their legs often, this set-up was ideal. They could run around and explore while we sat and enjoyed our coffee or cocktail on the patio. We would definitely rent this unit again.
Caveats: If you plan to cook, keep in mind the pantry is not stocked with oil, vinegar, sugar, etc.
