I am a Cath Lab and ICU RN. Due to life circumstance, began vacation renting 2 of my homes a few years ago and find that I love it. It is a pleasure to share my unique homes. Thanks to all that come to them. I hope that all my guests enjoy them as much as I have.

Diane Stevenson purchased this house in 1989

This was our family home. My husband and I built it. It is not a 'kit'. He designed it and with a good bit of blood, sweat and tears, it was built with the care of the quality craftsman that he is. We raised our son here. He grew up playing in the creek and hiking in the woods. He is now 25 and with the economy the way it is, renting this home to nice folks helps us finance his education. It is a lovely home in a lovely location. We hope you enjoy staying in it as much as we enjoyed living in it for all those years. Diane Foley Stevenson (OWNER)

I love the creek and hiking in the woods. Follow the trail across the creek and up to the top of the property where you will enjoy a spectacular sunset. Walking into the house is like something magical. It really is a unique and special place to spend some well-deserved downtime.

Fabulous cabin

We had a fabulous time during our week-long stay at the cabin. We had a blast playing ping pong, relaxing in the hammocks in the backyard and panning for a little gold in the creek. The house was clean and well stocked with everything.
The only very minor cons that I have are:
1.) It is a bit of a non-direct route from the main highway. We got a bit confused/turned around a few times. But it's not too bad.
2.) Neighbors are very nearby. No problems with them though. If you're looking for privacy in the backyard, though, it's not there.
2.) The hot tub is small and only fits about three people.

loved it; perfect for my two kids and me

We had a wonderful time staying at the log house. It was a nice, quiet, comfortable turnkey place for my two young daughters and me to explore gold country. What I liked:
- just bring your groceries and personals, and the house has everything else. Comfortable kitchen, TV and wifi, plenty of sheets and towels. they even thoughtfully have the wood stove stocked. my kids were comfortable right away and i was cooking dinner within an hour of walking in.
- the place is really quiet. the road outside is sort of a highway, but there's not a lot of traffic, and either way, somehow the place is quiet and feels very private.
- the backyard and down by the river is fun for the kids. would be more fun in the summer, because i think you could dip into the water.
- The owner is very responsive. I had some trouble switching on the dvd player, and she called me within minutes of getting my email.
- the layout of the house is perfect for a family. big open family room, but with quiet and private bedrooms. we live in an apartment in san francisco so it felt huge to us.

It's basically a nice, cozy, fully functional house right when you walk in. There's literally nothing I can think of that I wish was different. I'd definitely stay there again or recommend it to someone else.

Perfect choice for 8 adults

I am currently laying on the couch at Diane's log cabin on the last morning of our rental, and I agree with all the other reviewers glowing reviews.

One thing I would add is that the interior of the cabin feels massive because of the high ceilings and the dormers. The photos don't really do it justice. The chairs and the couch in the family room are big and comfortable, perfect for 8 adults to sit around the large game table and play apples to apples. In the basement game room, there is also a futon couch and a large wrap around couch next to the ping pong table. Either of these rooms can easily and comfortably accommodate your whole family. This place could have easily accommodated 12 people. For our group of 8 it was awesome

The kitchen is also spacious and comes equipped with pots and pans, several full sets of glasses and dishes, utensils, virtually everything you would need except the food.

The back yard is very large, and borders a small creek. On the other side of the creek the woods seem to go on forever. There are no other homes in sight behind the back yard (there are neighbors to the left and right of the house).

Time made no demands.

The Log House was everything described and more. No words can describe the sense of peace and quiet while sitting in the yard, the comfort of the furnishings in the evening, the convenience of the well-stocked kitchen, the delight of seeing wildlife right outside the back door. We did some hiking, wandered into Grass Valley and Nevada City and drove around the countryside, but we didn't need to go beyond the front deck to be completely content. The Log House holds a blessing that seems to be infused into each who enters and stays awhile. We hope to come again in the not too distant future.

Wow, Wow and Wow!!

My family has been renting cabins in various sites for thirty years. Some we return to, some we don't. We will definitely return to the Log Cabin! I have been home for three days and long to go back. It was a wonderful five days. My two grown children came from different parts of California, leaving spouses at home for this birthday gathering. We were all thrilled the moment we entered the cabin. In fact, we agreed that it was even better than it appeared from the photos. The cabin is spacious, light-filled, beautiful to look at inside and out, incredibly well-appointed and very, very comfortable. The chairs and couch in the living room make for inviting and cozy seating--each of us claiming our spot the first day. The deck and very large yard off the back called to us every day. Sitting with a morning cup of coffee while listening to the river just beyond was the ideal way to start every day. The cabin itself kept offering discoveries and delights. In fact, I didn't realize that there was a third floor below us with tons of seating and a ping pong table. Next time. The bedrooms and beds are large with more than ample closet space. The owner has thought of everything. No need to bring a book, game or movie as there are more than enough of all three to fill anyone's desire. Each closet hosts blankets, pillows and comforters for even more comfort. We spent two delightful afternoons at Bear River, about ten minutes away. We are a "fishing family" and the gracious owner gave us directions to just the right place, a gorgeous spot on a perfect river. Try "mice tails" (!) if you plan to fish while there. Even if you don't, Bear River is a great place for a picnic lunch, an afternoon hike or just for sitting and soaking in nature. It was hard to leave this delicious cabin. I have a hunch that it will be our next rendezvous spot. To use my daughter's words, "We had a blast!"
