We slipped away from the city and into this cozy guest house in the hills of Topanga Canyon. Hands down a better choice than any sterile hotel. The location is serene, there is plenty of privacy, the owners are great and go out of the way to make it comfortable for you. I had a chance to meet the couple and they are super nice people who were sure to make us feel welcome and wish us a happy anniversary. The property and guest house was very clean and the owners added some extra touches like a bottle of Champagne for our anniversary, fresh flowers from the garden and candles. Inside you have everything you need. It gets pretty dark at night and there isn't any lighting for the walk way however that was easily lit with my little LED key chain flash light. The lack of street lights and track lighting outside is actually part of the charm and gives you that secluded and away from it all feeling. The lighting from the pool is a nice touch at night. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the water outside was relaxing and your view from any window is of the garden/pool area. Out front of the main gate your view is of the mountains.
If you enjoy the outdoors it’s a good spot to explore the State Park, Red Rock, local hippie spots, or enjoy a drive down the PCH to Santa Monica, Venice or Sycamore. The state park is half a mile away! You are tucked in the canyon without being too far away from everything else. Here you can take the trails into the hills and lounge on the beach in the same day.
We had dinner at the Inn of the Seventh Ray which is going to be a dinning experience that is hard to match anywhere else unless you jumped into the pages of your favorite child hood fairy tale. The staff was extremely friendly. The food is very organic, lean and fresh but slightly lacking in flavor.
Try brunch at Pats Grill and if you have a four legged friend bring him along cause it seems to be a spot everyone brings their dogs to join them in chilling on the patio while listening to a local guitar player and munching on giant pancakes.
For mid November the day time temp was a good 75*. The nights however get pretty cold but that’s when the fireplace comes in handy and the loft warms up nicely with the heater unit. Still I would bring an extra blankets (which we did) to curl up in downstairs or sweats to lounge in through out the evening.
Because the price was fair and enjoying the mnts and beach is free it is easy on the wallet
