When we walked into the cottage for the first time, we immediately felt at home. Jeanne, the property manager, had left the front porch light on and turned up the heat for us. We were pleasantly surprised. The house was much lovelier than we had imagined. It was a perfect size for the four of us (kids ages 9 and 13) and our bulldog. We drove up in a bit of a snowstorm and Jeanne was very helpful and constantly communicating with us. The kids loved waking up to the backyard full of snow, and we spent the next morning making snowmen and having snowball fights. The house was fully stocked, and really comfortable. We loved how the house was decorated and all the special touches they added. The landscaping was also extremely tastefully done. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, with hot chocolate in hand, watching the train go by. The location of the house was convenient...close to downtown, and a short distance from the foot of Mount Shasta and other attractions like Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake. Our recommendations for grabbing some great grub would be The Goad Tavern in Mount Shasta, and the Cornerstone Bakery in Dunsmuir. We had such a great experience....we will definitely be back in the summertime for more adventures!
