3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6.

Central frame is an updated 1820's barn, preserving original details while introducing modern, clean lines. A loft space on the second floor houses the master bedroom (queen) with a separate sitting area, in addition to a separate (double) bedroom and full bath. The downstairs has an open flow, with a newly-renovated galley kitchen, informal and formal dining areas, and a living room that includes an old fireplace made of round stones. This floor also has a bedroom (2 twins) overlooking rock outcropping, a small nursery, a mudroom, a laundry area, and a full bath.

The house works well for people with and without children. It is peaceful and quiet. It is less than 1/2 a mile from town, but also in a wooded area so you feel you are away. Behind the house is a rushing stream, a bridge (on our property), and a yard suitable for playing or relaxing.

The house is 1600 sq. ft, all useful and pleasant. It can be accessed by bus from NYC.

Woodstock is a charming, vibrant town with an identity that both includes and predates its ties to the 60's. Earlier in the 20th century, it drew artists to the Byrdecliffe community, and remains a center for creative expression. There are many things to do, if visitors want, from drop-in yoga and pilates classes to children's story hour at the local library to group walks. Alternately, Woodstock is an easy place to withdraw from others, into nature or other pursuits, and simply relax. It is near many other appealing towns, each with its own identity, as well as the kinds of relaxing activities that New Yorkers often miss, such as bowling, movie theaters without lines, quiet lakes, etc. etc.

I echo the reviews above. Nice house with all amenities. Close walk to the center of Woodstock. House is obviously well managed as all is clean and in good condition.
Based on the photo's I had thought the rooms to be a little bigger - but that has not changed my opinion on the quality of this offering.

Wonderful long weekend getaway!

My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights at this lovely farmhouse for our 4 year anniversary, and I must say we could not have had a better experience. The house is beautifully appointed with its modern amenities woven into an amazingly restored 19th century home. The layout was perfect for us, but I could see how a family or group of friends would be more than comfortable with the 2 floor, upstairs/downstairs layout. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you might need for cooking small or large meals. We loved how well the house was situated on the property - we felt completely secluded and yet enjoyed the close proximity to town. Cucina is excellent Italian with a very romantic ambiance if you feel like dining out. Judy was such a pleasure to correspond with - she could not have been more helpful or obliging. Overall we couldn't have been happier with our stay. We're already recommending the house to family and friends!

Home Away from Home!

We rented this house for about 5 weeks and were so happy there! I had 8 year old twins with me and they absolutely lived for the stream in back. They caught fireflies and we walked to town for dinner all of the time.

The house had everything we needed to be comfortable and it was just fantastic. This was the third time (and third house) we'd rented in the Woodstock area and this is the one we will go back to.

The house manager is so wonderful and easy to work with and she responded to each and every problem immediately!

We were very happy there and are looking forward to going back to our home away from home again!

What a lovely home!

We were met by Judy, a most gracious property manager. The home is lovely, even nicer than advertised. It's obvious the owners take great pride in their property. Our only challenges were the quirky locks and the open circular stairway which was very tempting to a toddler. The beds were all comfortable with deluxe linens. All appliances were new and the setting by a creek complete with small waterfalls was enchanting. We really would love to return. Thank you for a wonderful fall wedding getaway. Peg
Owner's Response: I'm thrilled that you enjoyed our house with its mix of quirky and deluxe. That circular staircase is tricky for young children. From the upper floor you can lock the child gate so they can't go down without you, but as you point out, they can go UP! We have brought our children to the house from birth to now (8,10) and not had a problem, but anyone with young children should know about this feature. The same goes for older guest, who might not want to use the circular staircase to the second story.

Me, my wife and another couple needed a place for the weekend as we were in town for a Ramble and this place was perfect. Nice open layout, great kitchen and dining area, awesome fireplace right in the center of the house, all the firewood you need, close to village green, cozy living room, and all the amenities you need for a nice relaxing weekend or extended vacation...except for a TV, which is a good thing. Property manager was extremely helpful and thoughtful. I concur with all previous reviews - we highly recommend this house.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
