A well-kept secret near Jim Thorpe is Penn's Peak where you can enjoy live concerts, a restaurant, and the most magnificent view of the Pocono Mountains.
Since my son was very young, we rented houses throughout the Poconos for skiing. They were some of the best memories of our lives and we cherished the day that we could own a home of our own. Now we would like to share that world with you so that you may create wonderful memories with your family.
Christine and Steve purchased this chalet in 2008
The Poconos has always been a refreshing vacation spot, with even more activities than the Jersey shore. Towamensing Trails, near Big Boulder/Lake Harmony, has wonderful amenities for adults and children. The beach area is large and the lake is stocked with trout and very clean. Many people enjoy the large swimming pool and there is a special pool just for the kids. The community is close to Big Boulder, Pocono Raceway, many lakes and parks, golf courses, shopping, antiquing, horsebacking riding, and hiking and biking trails. We enjoy boating, so we make use of the community lake and nearby Beltzville State Park.
You will find all the comforts of home and numerous personal decorative features in the spirit of country living.
Feels like you just came home from a long week at work and are ready to put your feet up and "veg". Everytime we thought Christine missed something, we found it within five minutes. Everything you could need. Wonderful comfy beds (already made up when we got there), towels, hair dryer and everything you could need in the kitchen. Christine is always just a phone call away to answer any questions. Best part was the multiple seating areas in the livingroom. We went there with my sister and her husband for Superbowl weekend and had plenty of comfortable places to sit and watch the game.
Thank you for everything! We will definately be back.
Cozy, charming home, close to Big Boulder Mountain and Split Rock Indoor Water Park. Perfect for our family getaway. Had everything we needed. Lots of games, puzzles, and movies. We were even able to bring our dog with us.Enjoyed taking him on walks around the scenic area. Saw many deer from the moment we entered the neighborhood. Christine, the owner was very hospitable. Made us feel it was our home away from home.
What a relaxing way to ring in the New Year! Our family had a great time at Wanda's Dream. The place was cozy yet roomy enough for everyone. Everything we were looking for - like shopping, skiing & dining was nearby. Thank you Christine for sharing your home with us and we look forward to our next trip to the Pocono's.
i have rented homes for many years through VBRO and I would say that this is the best transaction that I have ever had! This home was so warm and inviting from the time I stepped into the living room. I had everything I needed and more. I so enjoyed the deer and turkeys in the AM and PM. I also saw 3 bears on my trip! This home was located in the perfect spot to everything. I had the perfect week for the fall foliage and saw many places because of the best house owner, Christine! I want to thank you for being so kind and helpful in making my stay in your home, one to remember. Thanks for taking the time for giving me directions to many wonderful sites to see, places to eat, and making sure that I made it safe to your home. You made my stay so easy and comfortable. Your home was easy to find and I had everything that I need and I will come back again to try that jacuzzi and fireplace out! I thank you again from the bottom of my heart for everything.
We wanted to thank you for the use of your Pocono home. The house was wonderful – very spacious and with every amenity you could think of. Even the dogs made themselves right at home.
The weather was not very cooperative so we spent more time indoors than we planned. With a teen and a pre-teen along, that could have been a bit challenging, but the number of board games and movies you had available took care of that concern. Even with the excellent wireless, the kids really enjoyed playing board games and actually left the i-pads and i-phones take a break at times.
We had planned on doing a lot of fishing and bicycling, but the rain kept us from those activities. We did really enjoy the deer which came very close to the deck. I think the deer enjoyed it as well (at least they enjoyed the bread, popcorn and apples).
We did do some interesting things – the kids are big on ghost hunter shows so we went to the Old Jail Museum in Jim Thorpe. Not an expert on that sort of thing but the girls mentioned ‘orbs’ and whatever they are, some orbs appeared in some of their old cell block photos. They also had a good time horseback riding at Deer Path Stables. Now our niece’s mother is hearing how bad her daughter needs a horse!
You had an excellent list of restaurants, but we mostly cooked our own meals. The one exception was Murphy’s Loft which had some very good sandwiches. Our granddaughter loves French onion soup and theirs was some of the best we had.
One day we road tripped to the Old Country Junction store which is really a must see. They have everything you can think of. Later that evening we continued on to Becky’s Drive-In in Walnutport which has to be the nicest drive in we have ever been to. Even a passing thunderstorm didn’t cause much concern.
Finally, since it was too cold to do the waterpark at camelback, we took the girls to Dorney Park on Saturday when the weather was a little better.
Christine was helpful and friendly. House was exactly as pictured. Spacious and comfy for 6 adults after a long day on the slopes. We over-packed! Property had everything we needed right down to board games and a movie collection. Thank you, we will be back!
I am extremely happy I came across this property when I was looking for a weekend get away with my friends. Not only was the house fully equipped with everything we needed and more, but it really felt like home. The house was spotless, which made for easy comfort during our stay, and Christine was great with providing us with all the information we would need before, after, and during our weekend. She even had a welcome note for us when we arrived! - THAT! and, instead of waiting a lifetime for our deposit back, it was deposited back to us in a prompt and timely manner. Back to business though, the house was great. The pictures are nice, but when you get there in person... it is even nicer, (minus a few cracks and peeling in some of the paint ) but ... such a warm cozy feel...again... that had EVERYTHING we needed. If I go back to the Poconos for another stay, I will definitely be calling Christine. I give this place a 5 star rating, not only for the house itself, and hospitality, but also for the distance it was away from our excursions. Jack frost was about 5 miles from the house, and Big Boulder was about 9 miles away. Couldn't have planned our weekend without Christine's pointers on restaurants, super markets, and mountains near by. Thank you Christine! - Till next time. - Nicole
