Garrison Lake Cottage is a newer 2 bedroom, 2 bath Cape Cod with Garrison Lake frontage and an ocean view. The cottage is fully set up for housekeeping and sleeps 4. Downstairs there is a foyer, living room with sofa and chairs, kitchen/dining room, bedroom and full bath, and a laundry room with washer and dryer.
The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed. Upstairs the “attic” bedroom has 2 twin beds. There is a bath with shower and also a studio area overlooking the lake and ocean. The studio is minimally furnished with table and chairs, a rocking chair and a computer desk.
The cottage is located on a quiet cul-de-sac with no immediate neighbors. It sits on a knoll 20’ above Garrison Lake. A dune separates the lake from the ocean. Across the bay is a public fishing pier, a boat launch and Tseriadun Park which gives access to Agate Beach.
Port Orford is a quiet fishing, artist, retirement community of about 1,200 people and is located 65 miles north of the California border. Climate is moderate; if you want to 'beat the heat' this is the place. The well-known Bandon Dunes Golf Course is 30 miles to the north. The 25 mile drive from Port Orford south to Gold Beach offers spectacular ocean vistas.
My husband and I are retired, he an electrician, me an artist. We are Wisconsin residents and Port Orford, OR is our winter home due to the fact that all of our children and grandchildren are on the west coast.
We used to live in Grants Pass, OR, and found the coast to be an enjoyable place to visit. Port Orford is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of larger communities yet close enough to drive to Coos Bay / North Bend where there is shopping and an airport.
We have city amenities yet are on a quiet wooded cul-de-sac. Lake and ocean views are beautiful and relaxing. Neighbors are friendly.
