This is a wonderful old Taos adobe home. The original house (now bedroom #2) was once the home of a family of 9-kitchen and bath then were outdoors. It is thought to be 250+ years old and is considered an historical property. Like many Taos homes it was added to in the ensuing years.
This home is delightful for a couple. It is a spacious home which is unusual for an old adobe. The layout is perfect for a couple and is also suitable for a group stay and would be especially comfortable for two couples since the two good sized bedrooms each have full, private baths and are separated by the sunroom and great room. There is a double futon in the sunroom and another in the great room for additional guests. (Up to a total of 8) The house is cozy in the winter due to thick adobe walls, four kiva fireplaces and a very efficient gas heater. There is always a good supply of firewood under the carport. Summer is delightful and cool inside and great for outdoor living with a deck off master bedroom and a wonderful front flagstone patio with table and chairs, BBQ and outdoor fireplace. The house is furnished with interesting antiques. sculpture and original art. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to produce those gourmet feasts or a quick snack for two. Bathroom #2 has a washer and dryer for those chores that call out even on vacation. The yard is fenced and well behaved dogs are welcome at a small additional fee.
The house has a wonderful, peaceful feeling and yet is only a few minutes from all Taos has to offer..good restaurants, shops including MY shop Red CatMelissiana. ,galleries, the Taos Pueblo and many great outdoor activities).
Keywords: cozy, yet spacious, beautifully decorated and mountain views too and pet friendly
PLEASE NOTE; Even if my calendar says this property is reserved contact me. I have a total of 11 Taos rentals (soon it will be 12...) and have accommodations for any size group...
I was a California landscaper who wanted a simpler life so I moved to Taos. I fell in love with an old adobe home by the river and bought it. Then I fell in love with another old adobe and bought it for a vacation rental. I have a shop in downtown Taos Red Cat Melissiana 110 Dona Luz in the Guadelupe Plaza just behind the main Plaza. It is very 'Taos Eclectic' and must be seen to be believed...
Melissa Serfling purchased this house in 2007
I love old adobe homes. They have such substance, personality and character This house has a cozy and welcoming feeling that everyone who has stayed here comments on and yet for an old adobe is amazingly spacious. The house has a private enclosed yard, is nicely landscaped (next project big container plants and an irrigation system) and great mountain views.
This home has the charm of an old adobe (original room 250 years+) but has all the modern amenities we expect. It is in a quiet location, yet only minutes from all Taos has of offer (i.e. restaurants, galleries, the pueblo and outdoor adventures) I love the deck for sunsets and the outdoor patio, the 4 kiva fireplaces (each bedroom, great room and sunroom) the wood and brick floors and the 46 (count them!) overhead vigas as well as the 14' thick walls. Owner lives 5 minutes away to answer any questions or provide information.
We loved staying in your wonderful house. I loved your gardens, both flower and vegetable. We enjoyed three meals from your vegetable garden and each was such a treat. I picked apples off the ground and will make jelly when I go home. I'll send you some. Our week in your home was everything we could have asked for and more. You have created a paradise. Thank you for sharing it!
Some girlfriends and I took a weekend in Taos. This house was all we had hoped it would be. We enjoyed the wonderful outside fireplace while the snow came down. We then decided we needed to take a long girls weekend more often. Thank you for allowing us to stay in this wonderful idyllic Taos home.
Just spent two nights in this adobe home for my first visit to Taos. Loved all the authentic New Mexico touches, along with a modern kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room, and gas heaters. Convenient for visiting local sights - we had lunch one day at Doc Martin's at the Old Taos Inn and the other at the Bent Street Deli. Dinner at home both nights. Enjoyed the Kit Carson House, Millicent Rogers Museum, Taos Museum of Art, and the Martinez homestead. Owner/manager has been extremely helpful and responsive to our questions. Recommend this home!
We thoroughly enjoyed this charming adobe home for two relaxing days. The proprietor was very responsive, helpful and quite accommodating. The property is comfortable, spacious and projected the theme of New Mexico style throughout. It was simple and timeless in its adornment and layout, and felt like a home from the 1800s (with modern updates, of course). Soft-curved adobe walls, pine log beams supporting a wooden ceiling, brick floors, living areas full of daylight and a lovey mountain view from the large dining table in the kitchen/dinning area. It is located in an easily accessible semi-rural Taos neighborhood not far from old town Taos, and has a pleasant private garden area in the front and a deck off the main bedroom out back. We were visitors in snowy conditions and absolutely loved the four kiva wood-burning fireplaces and the three gas flame faux wood stove heaters.
We just stayed at this charming 200 yr old home. We had everything we needed, the area is quiet. A fence allowed our dogs to go outside and play. Would stay there again.
We stayed at this house recently with our 3 kids and it was AMAZING! We loved the outdoor space, the kitchen was very well appointed, beds were very comfortable and cozy, overall a very good experience. Melissa was a great host as well, quick when recommendations whenever we asked. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
This Taos Adobe home is the authentic choice for a lifetime Taos adventure and memory trip! We planned a trip to sink into Taos just as the locals do, with very little tourist time, and sacks full of everything unplugged. This home was our Adobe perfection! Filled with antique touches, taste, a history filled grace and love for the landscape, both inside and out. Aiello Road has a tucked away kind of quiet feel...you would not know you were just a few miles from the center of town. Our week long stay allowed us to cook most nights on the pinion fire and we shared the courtyard with mugs of spice tea and numerous hummingbird friends. Great spots for warm conversations and for these Texans...an appreciation of the cool New Mexico summers. We did not want to leave, this home left an impression on us and we will be back soon to visit our new found friend. Thank you, thank you Melissa for sharing your home and your passions.
