This vacation home is perfectly situated in the middle of a private gated Golf Course community known as Citrus Hills Village, and has everything for your comfort and enjoyment. With temperatures averaging 72 degrees year round, Citrus County is one of the best locations in the state of Florida. Cool breezes off the Gulf of Mexico in summer feel heavenly and warmer temperatures in the winter extend the enjoyment through all four seasons.
The community offers 9 challenging public golf courses, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor dinning as well as some terrific shopping. A quick 25 minute drive to the beach will lead you to Fort Island State Park.
Enjoy the benefits of exclusive membership at the Bella Vita Fitness & Spa Center, free golf on the Meadows 18 hole championship course, and free tennis at Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club courts (for guest staying a minimum of 30 days).
The home is located between the Towns of Inverness & Hernando, off the Gulf to Lake Highway, just minutes from restaurants, shopping centers, local activities & attractions. Tampa and Orlando airports are located approximately 1 to 1-1/2 hours south.
The property is located less then 10 miles from Crystal River and Homosassa attractions. You can have a fun time taking riverboat tours, swimming with manatees, scuba diving, or even fishing in the salt water. A day trip to Orlando (Disney World) or Tampa (Bush Gardens) is just an hour away. Spend the day exploring amusement parks.
As part of Florida’s nature coast the City of Inverness lies comfortably between the tranquil waters of the chain of seven lakes leading to the Gulf of Mexico, known as the Tsala Apopka (considered one of the richest bass fisheries in the world), and continues to the moss filled oak trees of the Inverness highlands. Its historic downtown square with an array of fine shops, restaurants, the Crown Hotel and Citrus County's turn-of-the-century Courthouse (appeared in film scenes from 'Follow That Dream' starring Elvis Presley), bathe Inverness in the ambiance of times past.
Inverness is geographically located in the center of the State of Florida and it bears a notable resemblance to its sister city - Inverness, Scotland. Approximately, a hour's drive to Tampa's Busch Gardens to the south, Orlando's Disney World/Epcot complex to the southeast, the charming old fishing village of Cedar Key to the northwest and Gainesville's FSU Gator football games to the north.

New Hampshire resident who enjoys the New England summers and Florida winters built this private and quiet retreat to have a place to 'escape' to. The owner of a management consulting business, he loves the 'laid back' environment and natural beauty of Florida's nature coast. Unlike the highly developed areas of Florida, he finds the nature coast is a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the unspoiled natural beauty of the gulf coast. The owner designed his 'villa' to capture the clean, calm and private feeling of the nature coast. He wanted to recreate a sense of beauty and creativity - where one can enjoy the peaceful environment - where one can enjoy writing, painting, or composing as well as enjoying one of the best preserved natural splendors in Florida.
Bob Elliott purchased this house in 1994
As someone who constantly travels for business, I was looking for the perfect place, which combined natural beauty and privacy, to relax and unwind after a business trip. Having spent many vacations throughout the state - this location won me over - it had everything I was looking for and more. Sitting at the top of a hill it offers mild winters and comfortable summers - with a consistent and pleasant breeze.
This is a very private, hilltop location with all of the benefits of nature-coast living nearby. The central gulf coast location gives you access to the 'college town' atmosphere of Gainesville, the big city attractions of Tampa, the recreational diversity of Orlando - and the small 'old Florida' charm of Crystal River and Cedar Keys. With three airports easily accessible it is a convenient spot to get to. The ability to enjoy the sunshine in a private location allows you to enjoy an uninhibited environment. Set apart from neighboring properties allows you the privacy and comfort of individual tastes.
My wife and I have stayed at this property for the past 3 years in the winter. This past year we were there for 3 months. We will definitely return in the future.
The property / house is everything advertised and more. It is fully equipped. All you need to bring is your clothes and buy groceries. The property is very clean and well maintained. The pool is serviced every week. In addition, the rental comes with a membership to the Terra Vista HOA, which includes a fitness center, lots of social activities (bridge, etc.), and 3 golf courses.
We especially enjoyed eating on the lanai, overlooking the pool.
Inverness is a great little town with many restaurants and lots to do. The Withlacoochie Trail bike and walking trail runs through the town - great for daily exercise. The locals are very friendly.
I would specifically recommend Cinnamon Sticks, Joe's, and Chefs of Napoli (Inverness) and The Highlander and Dan's Clam Stand (Crystal River) for dining out options.
We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives. And my wife and I will be returning in the future.
The house and area was fantastic! It was very peaceful and quiet. The pool, and especially the lanai
area was a great place to relax and unwind. The house is very tastefully decorated with all the amenities that one would require. The house was clean and well maintained and the owner was always available if we had any questions. Our guests loved the area and house, but would have liked a queen size bed (we had one!)
The location is great for golfing. There are many courses in the area to play - Citrus Hills Country Club- The Meadows and Oaks, Skyview and El Diablo to name a few. There are amazing places to see from this location. We visited Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota and Tarpon Springs - great day trips and some nice beaches. There are walking/biking paths in the area where we were able to see a lot of wild life and we drove to Homosassa quite often to see the Manatees ( just amazing!) Inverness has a lovely downtown area with restaurants and an antique market. There are also many restaurants in
the area that we greatly enjoyed - Cody's roadhouse, Chefs of Napoli, Chrystal Hills Golf Club - even the Olive Garden. The weather was great and we enjoyed the entire stay. We are looking forward to returning.
We were so impressed with this house and the amenities! The owner (Bob) thought of everything, and was available if anything came up during our stay. The pool area is very private, and it feels like you are all alone with just the Florida sunshine and trees surrounding you while you swim or have a cup of coffee in the morning on the lanai. We definitely want to return again and again! The location of the house is so convenient and the neighborhood is quiet and restful. We can't say enough about the quality of this property. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything that a dedicated cook could want. You don't want to miss this house!
All of the photos and descriptions lived up to this fantastic vacation home. The home is sumptuously decorated and immaculately maintained. There is plenty of space and immenities with which to relax, unwind, swim, sunbathe, cook, etc. The owner seemed to anticipate his guests every need and even provided a book filled with any further information you could want or need about the property and surrounding destinations/locations.
I would absolutely recommend this fabulous retreat to my friends and family.
My stay here was excellent! The house is very well appointed from the furnishings, well equipped kitchen to the pool area. There was nothing missing! A major plus is the privacy of this location. I do not think that there is another residence in Citrus Hills that is as private.
The home is a prime base location for those seeking golf, beaches and the adventures of the nature coast.
After traveling in several other areas of Florida I found this area to be the most diverse and untouristed of all. There are certainly many opportunities for adventure as well as just relaxing at this prime retreat.
The house is very confortable. The heated pool, lanai, and separation from neighbors makes for a nice, private spot to relax. We were quite confortable here, slept well (nice bed), and found the kitchen well equipped. The golf club was an excellent place to spend time, and the "Grill" is a very good eatery. Staff at all Citrus Hills locations were excellent. We even took golf lessons where the pro, Steve, did a great job with everyone. I learned, and practiced, a new "trick" that may help me win a match in the future. I find the value of most Citrus Hills function easily worth more than they charge.
The owner responded positively to our request, and gave good service. The information and preparations provided made this stay easy to get into. No unpleasant surprises.
Scalloping, tennis, kayaking, boating, camping - the water lover's paradise.
