My parents were born in Cuba, moved to the US in 1960 and after my father graduated from The University of Florida, moved to PR with my mom and us, and have consider PR our home, since then. They raised us (three daughters) for most of our life, in this beautiful Rainforest, and named it Hacienda Riverwalk because of the beautiful walking trail by the river.
It was in its origins, a very extensive and productive Coffee Plantation, for many years.
Cristina (Kiki) purchased this house in 1970
My parents liked to enjoy the benefits of a peaceful, beautiful, and safe country living, but at the same time, very close to town and the University of Mayaguez (10 mts drive), where my father was an Engineering Professor, for many years.
Total relaxation, peaceful starling nights, natural river pools, beautiful flora and fauna, very safe, the proximity to beaches and everything in town. Only a 2.5 hr drive from San Juan.
First of all thank you for tolerating our crew. The hospitality you provided was wonderful experience. We did keep a busy schedule and were able to see a lot of PR. Again the experience was great.
The house was a perfect and safe place that will remain in our heart forever.
Casa de Campo is a great place to vacation! The house has all you need to feel right at home including Nexflix for the kids. The landscape, river and cascade at walking distance of the house provide a natural scenery. The natural surroundings make one feel peaceful and connected with nature, the birds singing in the morning and the Coqui's at night provide an unique experience. Although you are in a natural surrounding you are only minutes from the city where you can find restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping malls. We are already planning a trip back to Casa de Campo.
This was my third stay at Casa de Campo. My visits have ranged from one week to five weeks. I travel to Mayaguez for research once a year and bring three to six colleagues from around the world with me each time. Casa de Campo has everything we need and is conveniently located for our trips to the university, downtown, to the beaches, or up into the hills. It is a great place to return to after a long day. The views are spectacular, the evenings quiet, and with the full kitchen you have every thing you need to prepare a great meal to enjoy with friends or family. You won’t find anything on the island like it for the price. My next trip will certainly take me back to Casa de Campo.
My two boys and I along with two of their friends spent 8 days at Casa de Campo. What made our stay special was our hikes along the river and up the mountain, enjoying the beautiful view from the deck, listening to the sounds of the jungle at night as the frogs come alive after a rain shower, and exploring the western side of beautiful Puerto Rico. One day we found a jewel of a beach in Joyuda that was one of the most tranquil I have ever seen. The farm house is within easy driving distance to beaches both to the north and south, and within easy access to shopping, theaters and grocery stores in Mayaguez. A truly memorable experience.
This is my second stay in 7 months. This stay was just as good if not better than the first! The sunrise over the mountain, the stars at night, the peacefulness of the rainforest, the nice trails to walk--wow!
The place was clean and cozy. It created a great atmosphere for our missions team. We were able to eat as a family and then enjoy the deck after dinner.
The mornings were perfect to just take a cup of Puerto Rican coffee on the porch and greet everyone as they started their day. It was great sharing a cup of coffee with Charlie as he shared his knowledge of the island, checking in on us every day.
This will not be the last time we stay!
Thanks Cristina for the call to make sure we got in alright the first day of our stay, it really meant a lot!
My classmates and I visited Mayaguez to complete Nursing hours at San Antonio Hospital. We chose the house online and were blown away from the time we arrived. Casa del Campo is home away from home. We had everything that we needed but the added bonus was the tranquil view. After 12 hour days there was nothing better than driving to the house and only listening to the sound of the coqui.
Another reason for choosing this property was because of it's similarity to Cuba. My classmates are all foreign physicians who haven't seen their country on years. When they all saw the house they were able to reminisce about their homeland and feel at peace with their decision.
Thank you Cristina for creating a home-like environment. Plus, I would like to especially thank CHARLIE. He is the go to tour guide, conversationalist and friend. We grew so close to him that we felt like we were leaving family behind.
Cristina, I wish you and your family the best today and always.
Love, The Cubans

We staid in the home for 10 days with our 4 kids. Our daughter tuned 16 and our son turned 3. We had a great time here. We wanted to stay some where where the kids can be outside and safe. There was more than enough room for all of us. We were very surprised at how large the home was. The kitchen was very large and great for everyone to be in. All of the rooms were a very good size as well. The deck is where we spent most of our time. The stars were out every night.
We have 2 dogs at home and when we met ""Joe-Joe" that is what the kids called him they fell in love! The dog went with us on our hikes on the trails, greeted us every morning and night. The kids looked forward to seeing him, in fact my son is still asking for him.
Charlie was a great host. He told us about different places on the island, and any questions we had he was right there. The only things I would suggest would be to have a deck of cards or some Dominoes for some family time. If you have kids bring something for them to play with. The trails were beautiful but maybe if there were some more clearer ways to tell the guest which way the waterfall vs the mountain top views were would of help. We walked to the top the first day and the second day Joe-Joe came with us and we followed him.
Please who ever goes there take good care of him :) I am sure we will be back again!
Riverwalk is a 60 acre former coffee plantation nettled in the lush tropical rainforest of the Puerto Rican west coast. The property is located within ten to fifteen miles of beautiful beaches and some of the best diving/snorkling at the Desecheo Island Underwater Preserve, surfing, horback riding and an unforgetable sunset catamaran cruise.
We have four vacation rentals in the property, all with a/c in every bedroom, completely furnished, fully equipped kitchens, towels and linens.
Additionally, Riverwalk is only four miles from downtown Mayaguez, home of the University of Puerto Rico Agricultural and Engineering School, a wide assortment of international dining restaurants as well as casual chain-eateries.
