Private Home on 35 Acres with views of the La Plata Mountains to Mesa Verde National Park and The Four Corners. This is a 400 square foot, park model home 2 miles from the town of Dolores. All full size appliances and a 37' HD TV. Halogen lighting on dimmers, ceiling, window fans and AC. Side table and lift top coffee table or patio furniture on the deck for enjoying a sunset dinner.
Kitchen item include a Krups coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, all dishes and silverware. The sun comes in my south facing widows in the morning which is a good time to look out for deer, red fox, bobcats.
Take a walk around the perimeter of the acreage in the evening during sunset to find pottery shards and see wildlife. Sleep well with cool nights at 7000 feet.
Safe for kids, no cliffs or water to fall into. I supply paper towels, TP, hand soap and coffee filters.
It has a bath tub but the water heater is not big enough for a real hot bath. It's a half mile gravel road access.
I'm an avid cyclist, photographer, hiker so ask anything about enjoying this area and I'll lead you to the best locations or just relax in the town of Dolores and soak in the river.
Dean purchased this house in 2008
The views and seclusion are unmatched! Birds, bunnies, fox and deer roam the property.
Nearest neighbor is a half mile away. It's almost too quite here!
This is a priced right secluded rental. It rained several days during our 6 day stay but that didn't dampen our spirits a bit as we had panoramic views from inside rental of the beautiful mountains and sky. Wildlife surrounded us. From the kitchen window we saw a yearling munch on the vegetation for around 30 minutes. Lots of tracks on ground after the rain. Wifi was spotty but that just added to getting away from it all. The road signs are RD 30 not CR 30 and Hwy 184 has two exits from 145. The first one is on the left when coming from Cortez, don't go that way. Continue on 145 and shortly 184 shows again, this time on the right; go that way and you will see Rd 30. If you are coming from north on 145 (from Telluride direction) then you should have no problem finding the correct 184,as it will be the first correct exit onto 184. The rest of the directions were spot on.
Our trip to SW Colorado was a huge success thanks to our perfect home base in Dolores. Thanks to Dean for letting us rent his nice little house. It had everything we needed. The views from his property were breathtaking. We were 10 minutes from downtown Dolores where we had a delicious dinner at the Dolores Brewery. We spent a fun day on our boat at McPhee Reservoir. Cortez and Mesa Verde NP were a short 20 minutes from the house. We went over to Durango to ride the train up Cascade Canyon and enjoyed libations and tasty grub at Carver Brewery. Our vacation was fantastic and this property suited us perfectly. We highly recommend this Home Away rental.
This is a comfortable property in a great location for anyone who loves rural Colorado. In one direction are the peaks and ski resorts of the high Rockies; in the other, red rock canyons. The region has a bounty of trails for all types of users. In a couple of weeks I hiked a hundred miles with my dogs and still had immense wilderness to explore everywhere.
The trailer itself is nicely kept, well-isolated off maintained dirt roads yet near enough to shopping. I went to Durango regularly to pick up barbeque. Everything worked fine except for the wireless internet. My wireless phone got a good 4G connection, though. The kitchen had most everything I needed. Everything is clean with lots of extra sheets and towels.
The evening were great for cookouts. Great sunsets, and every dusk the distant coyotes made my dogs' ears prick up. I also hiked through the property a few times. It's heavily treed but surrounded by a fence which is mostly easy to follow, except for stretches of the west end. At the south end the acreage starts sloping down to the valley below -- a nice overlook.
Good place to come if you like a rustic environment, comfortable accommodations, and open country.
We are from Washington and couldn't wait for our stay. The property and home was perfect for us and our dog. It made a great central point for traveling over the 4 Corners area. The views were priceless, we had a beautiful show of the full moon rising and T-Storms over the Mesa. The home had everything we needed and was very clean. We will return! Thanks Dean.
Such a sweet, clean and well equipped little house. The location is private, quiet, comfortable and peaceful, which allowed me to enjoy the sounds of the high desert juniper scrub. My dogs and I had fun walking around the property and exploring. There’s a lot of flora and fauna to see and next time I return, I will bring a hummingbird feeder. The house is a good home base for hiking, mountain and road biking and seeing the sites of area. Thanks for sharing your place!
My dog and I spent a week at the property. Although remote, it's very easy to find with directions from the owner. It's about an hour from Durango and less than 30 minutes from Cortez. The views are AMAZING! My dog and I took several walks around the property and he loved it! The cabin is beautiful and well equipped from the full kitchen down to the extra hangers in closet and ice cubes in the freezer. The Wi-Fi kept me well connected. I would definitely recommend this rental to others and am thinking about a return trip myself!
