During Fall Banner Elk has The Woolly Worm Festival, A lot of fun for kids. Also in the Fall with the changing of the leaves , beautiful mountain views. In October Valle Crusis has their Country Fair, crafts, food and live music, admission is FREE. On Halloween checkout the Annual Ghost Train at Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock. Some popular attractions around Linville are Linville Falls, Linville Gorge, Pisgah National Forest, and The Blue Ridge Parkway.
During the summer water rafting and zip-line are very exiting and popular,lots of fishing and lakes near by,like Watauga Lake just west of Boone,it can be accessed at several public and private boat ramps,and marinas for a nominal fee ($5 or less) to canoe or water sports.
For the golfer in the group,the mountain courses around Linville are beautiful as they are challenging. The Grandfather Course, designed by Ellis Maples. The Linville Gulf Club, designed by the legendary golf architect Donald Ross.
Take a day and head to Ashville and see The Biltmore Estate, tour the nearby Wineries, Antique Shops, or drive to Mount Airy home of The Andy Griffin Show.
Boone is only 20 min. and there are plenty of restaurants, movie theaters, shopping.
Blowing Rock 25 min. it is a Norman Rockwell picture perfect town, plenty of shopping and restaurants.
Banner Elk is just 10 min. and also has plenty of shopping and restaurants.

This Country Log Cabin in the Linville Area,it is a private vacation home. Very nicely furnished and made available to respectful renters. Only 2 min. from Central Linville, 10 min. from Grandfather Mountain and just minutes from the slopes of Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, Hawk's Nest, and Appalachian Ski Resorts.
Sugar Mountain Ski resort is only a 10 minute drive, Beech Mountain Ski Resort is 25 minute drive, Hawk's Nest is a 10 minute drive . Jonas Ridge is 15 minutes. And the Appalaachian Ski Resort is only 25 minute drive.
