Clean, Comfortable, Convenient, Calm

  • 5 of 5

Nice, homey (yet updated), wonderfully appointed place ... would definitely return / rec'd to others. Clean, comfortable accommodations conveniently located less than five miles from downtown Grand Haven, and a short drive to either Holland or Saugatuck. Spotless bathrooms, kitchen area & appliances, bedrooms and living areas. Homeowner provided niceties like coffee filters, sugar packets, ample plates & cookware; dishwasher, dish sink & laundry detergent; a new sponge; paper towel; plenty of clean bath & beach towels; and access to bicycles. Area very quiet and house nestled in tree-filled, serene yard. Front porch and yard seating for adjacent fire pit an unexpected treat. Spacious, well-groomed backyard with swing set and play area for kids. Quick walk to access public beach / Lake Michigan, which was wonderful for early morning and late afternoon walks, and watching the glorious Western Michigan sunset.

Enjoy comfort and tranquility here!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time and are grateful for all of your amenities – from plush towels and beach chairs to that awesome campfire pit!! Our son (age 26) made campfires on two evenings, and we sang all of the songs from when we camped in our tent 20 years ago – so much fun!! Your home was in a beautiful location and had everything we needed! I had brought several favorite utensils from home not expecting your amazingly well-equipped kitchen!! Wow – a Cuisinart skillet which was perfect for making a large serving of risotto! The only sad part was turning on the furnace twice in the mornings to heat up the basement area; we used this more than the AC!! Your updated 'cottage' was so well stocked with books, games, and the basic essentials which made relaxing so much fun. You have kept it clean and inviting!

We found many beautiful parks, scenic locations, biking trails, and places to hike that we know we’ll return again. Rosy Mound was picturesque, and the tall pines at the end of the trail were simply awesome!! From the Grand Haven Farmers Market, its inviting shops and restaurants, the nightly water and light show, to its lovely neighborhoods, this area is a vacation 'haven'! And your home is the perfect place to stay for a close walk to a private beach and tranquility. We'll be back!

Sweet & fun property

  • 5 of 5

We were totally happy! The owners were very helpful and the place was very clean.

Easy walk to the wonderful beach.

Short drive to grocery and Grand Haven town.

Vander Mill brews Cider & beer and has great food and samples FUN & Yummy. 14921 Cleveland St, Spring Lake, MI 49456

The bikes are in good shape so we made a mistake by bringing our own and should have rented their bikes.

A Grand Time in Grand Haven

  • 4 of 5

Painted Sky was everything that you advertised and depicted. Everyone in our family had a great time despite the several rainy days and cooler than normal temperatures. We all kept busy no matter what. The rustic area was a relaxed atmosphere and very enjoyable. We really appreciated all your suggestions and recommendations for the area, that you provide for your renters at the cottage. They were very helpful and right on. Thank you for having such a nice place and allowing us to rent it. We definitely will keep your vacation cottage in mind the next time we can make it back up to Michigan.

Nice cottage overall

  • 3 of 5

Nice cottage with plenty of beach and bath towels. There were some problems with bugs in the house, but we went in June, and all the houses in the area probably had the same problem. At the other end of the street is a nice beach. It is a "no stairs" beach, but there is still a somewhat steep hill to walk up and down to get there and back.

There were a few areas that could use a fresh coat of paint, but overall the cottage was cute and nicely decorated. At night though, there wasn't a whole lot to do if you didn't go into town. Only one TV and no Internet. There's a playground/swingset for kids in the back and a Lego table in the basement. I would suggest investing in some plastic plates, bowls, cups, etc. though as the only ones in the cupboards were breakable.

Wonderful, Relaxing, Fully Equipped, Perfect For a Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house was immaculate when we arrived, fully equipped to prepare family meals, and generally wonderful.

Beach access was a big plus, and we used it every day. The public beach is small, but nice and easy to get to. There's a very small and relatively easy hill to get to the beach. No stairs and no tremendous dune. Beachcombing on long shoreline walks was a lot of fun for everyone.

The beds were comfortable, the layout was great for a family. There were places to gather, and some places to get away from the big group.

We enjoyed the ping pong table, the glider on the front porch (I sat out there a lot knitting, reading and just relaxing). Kids liked the hammock and the back yard play area.

Bike/walking trails are just a few steps away from the front door, making it perfect for runners, bikers, and walkers.

We did not get to use the fire pit this trip (maybe next time).

Grand Haven is a small town with many beautiful homes and friendly folks. There is a smallish shopping area that was fun to explore. We found a few good restaurants too. Holland and it's many shops and restaurants are just 15 minutes away.

I could happily spend 2 weeks here and hope to do so in the future!
