Head north for a two mile walk into the friendly/ quaint village of Elk Rapids. The village has antique shops; the very best in art galleries; in the state of Michigan our marinia was voted #1; fine restaurants to please your palatte; cross the bridge on River Street to check out a book at our island library, visit our newly relocated historical museum at 301 Traverse St. to learn the 1848 history of Elk Rapids and beyond. On your way back stop at the village's kids park. Or take a hike and explore Petobego Pond to the south. This is our local nature preserve where swans, deer, small animals and wild berries thrive. There are many golf courses, Turtle Creek Casino, great shopping and 'find' dining in Traverse City. Check out the many wineries in Leelanau and Old Mission Pennisula. Don't forget to visit historical Mackinaw Island and the famous Sleeping Bear Dunes.
