Surrounding area and on site assistance: The English speaking Dagres family, owning a tavern, cares for guests on site. Depending on the season and offers on the local market, the menu of the day is changed everyday. Mr Dagres is actually the 'plus' of our holiday house. All of our guests have always enjoyed his kindness and helpfulness at any time of the day or night. Other taverns, fish restaurants, cafes and snack bars located on the beach and in the village will provide you with culinary diversion. On the beach you will also find children's playgrounds, promenade to have a walk, and cafes with music, so that you never get bored. Most of the ancient Greek and Byzantine places of interest can be the aim of daily excursions: Corinth, Delphi, Olympia, Epidaurus, Sparta, Argos, Athens, Mycenae, Tripoli, Mystras, Naphlion, Epidaurus, and more. Last but not least: Nerantza and the neighbour beach of Vrachati were granted the 'Blue Flag' for the good water quality of the sea.
Leisure time: A boat rental of the village offers our guest the possibility to have a speed boat anchored in front of the villa. Enjoy the crystal clear water of countless bays that can only be reached by boat. Or learn water ski. A stable is located 16 km away from the house, where children and adults can ride in front of the impressive ancient castle of Corinth, and also have riding lessons. Horse riding equipments are provided. The stable also has a cafe. The North-West harbour of Kiato (2 km away) is a diving area. Hiking: who is looking for 'light' in Greece will experience the brightest sunny days in spring and autumn, with intensive colours and vast clear horizon, also ideal for hiking. The peninsula Peloponnese offers discoverers ancient castles, magnificent buildings from the Crusades, Venetians and Turks as well as impressive mountains with deep canyons. Hike on centenarian paths covered with natural stone. The best period for hiking is May.
Garden & taxi service: In the garden you will find among others: lemon, fig, olive and pomegranate trees, and pines. Our guests are allowed to pick whatever they want. The house name derives from the luxuriant small oleander bushes on the way leading to the property. Three huge poplars are the confidential emblem of the village, used by boat owners to find their way back home. It takes about one hour or less to reach Athens from the house. We will help you to find a rental car to favourable conditions. We can arrange for you the taxi service with Mr Dimitris Zoes, if you want it. He picks up our guests at the Athens or Patras airport. A one-way trip in his air conditioned Mercedes costs about € 100.
Was the description accurate regarding the location, layout, facilities, etc.? Yes - in fact, it exceeded our expectations - we were delighted by how comfortable and well equipped the villa was. The villa is so close to the sea that one has the impression of being on board ship when in the sitting room, looking out on balcony and view.
Was the property clean, well-maintained, etc.? Yes - very clean and beautiful garden - the gardener came on Saturday and worked for some hours.
Did the owner provide good customer service? Yes - fast replies and helpful comments.
Would you recommend this property to a friend? I already have.
What activities, attractions and restaurants did you like or dislike? Excellent location for visiting archaeological sites. Very changeable sea - sometimes like a mill pond, sometimes too choppy for boats, but great fun for bouncing in waves. Very friendly tavern owner and tasty food, served quickly. Friendly staff in supermarket. Plenty of shops and services close to Nerantza. There was nothing to dislike whatsoever - we had a great time.
We spent two weeks at this lovely house with great view and it was a perfect holiday. We met the owners, who were very friendly and hospitable. Everything you need is present. The small village is lovely, you hardly find tourists, and the surroundings are real authentic Greek. We felt really safe, there is no need to lock the door. I really recommend staying at Villa Oleander!!
Grand parents over 60, children around 30 and a baby 10 month old found the villa Oleander the best place to spend their holidays !
Not only comfortable but a lot of space for everyone means that anyone feels the right place to be : one of the terraces (2 of them on each side of the villa), the beach, the sea, the garden or the living room. Very good customer service, recommendable to anyone who appreciates a place like paradise.
We particularly appreciate the thursday market in Velo with fresh fish, vegetables and fruits.
Of course, the visits of the local archaelogical sites were easy and impressive especially the Accro Corinth citadelle.
Wonderful place well equiped even for a baby who has taken his first bath in the sea !
We stayed with 6 people in the house of all ages: 3 teenagers and 3 of 30+. And we all loved it. Plenty of space and enough to do in and around the house. It was a bit windy and not too warm early May, but still the kids had a day of fun with the canoe in the sea, just a step away from the house. And what a breathtaking view the sea offers!
If you have a car its a perfect spot to go and visit all the sites of the Peloponnesos. Though some are quite far to travel to (about 3 hours to Olympia and Delphi) its doable. Just take care to make an early start when its not high season yet: everything closes around 3 PM. But its wonderfully quiet and not crowded in this time of the year.
One of the things that will stay with me is the smell of the citrustrees that were blossoming and the taste of the oranges that can be plucked from the trees everywhere: lovely!
The owners and the manager of the house have been very kind and helpful in every way. Thanks for that! Quick replies and lots of information about day trips and the internet and all, great!
Also, with the supermarket nearby and open till 9 PM there is never a reason to hurry: fresh rolls in the morning, fresh veggies at night.
We would sure like to go back some time, maybe for a longer stay as well... loved it
We are a family with 3 children and we spent two great / exceptional weeks in Greece. The villa, located in a quite area, remains close to the shops and friendly taverns. The house is very nice, comfortable and well equipped. The view on the see from the living room and balcony is FABULOUS! Every morning you can see the sun rise coming, it is so beautiful. The garden is lovely with threes and flowers. There are everything for the kids: boat, ping-pong, ...The villa remains not far from the famous sites: Athina, Korinthos, Epidauros, Nafplio, Poros Island, ... Definitively, there are everything for having great vacations!
Our family of 4 spent an unforgettable month (June 1-30, 2010) at the Villa Oleander. The villa has an unmatched view of the Gulf of Corinth, directly across from the temple of Hera and a lighthouse, and constantly graced by the view of the Acro-Corinth. Everyone enjoyed daily swims in the crystal clean water. At dawn we watched fishing boats at work and looked forward to the daily visit from the fish-seller. We cooked fresh fish of all varieties out of the gulf. A nearby taverna owned by Dagres offers excellent food. Our teenage son enjoyed paddling the canoe down the coast and made several friends at the next-door creperie. In nearby Kiato, one finds the best pastry shop called Barosi. I pursued research in the museum library of Roman Corinth. From the villa, one can easily travel the entire Peloponnesus. We visited Mycenae, Nemea, Argos,Tiryns, Naflio, Sparta, Orchomenos, Epidauros, Isthmia, and Sikyon. We also made a driving tour of Arcadia up to Langkadia. The ferry makes Delphi easily accessible for a day trip. The villa is beautifully appointed with German appliances, everything a family needs, including an excellent music system, satellite TV, and wireless internet. The garden is replete with rosemary and oregano for fresh cooking. One also discovers a lemon tree and a fig tree! The owners are hospitable and responsive. The sunsets from the balcony are of unmatched beauty and unforgettable.
Nerantza lies on the beach, close to Corinth. The village was 'discovered' at the beginning of the 1960s by the Athenians, who set up their summer houses on the coast. The inhabitants mainly live from agriculture, mainly ropical fruits and grapes. This is why Nerantza remained a Greek village. You will find various grocery stores: a small supermarket, greengrocer, butcher shop and a bakery. The pebble and sandy beach with its shallow shore is ideal for families with young children. This part of the coast is well-known for the moderate breeze or light wind that are almost always present. Thanks to it, the temperature is never muggy here. A paradise for windsurfers! Self-catering is easily possibly as there are comfortable coffee shops and tavernas alongside the beach at the promenade. Mountains are directly behind the coast, ideal for discovering and hiking. Mountains with pine and mixed forest offer a change from sunbathing and swimming.
Other Activities: Table tennis, trampoline, jet boating, canoeing
