There is an interesting architectural feature which some call a meditation room attached by an outside walkway to the upstairs sleeping loft. Downstairs from the main level is a large 'dormitory' room with adjacent full bath, a small bedroom with a sink, microwave and refrigerator, and a laundry room. A covered porch runs along one side of the house and there's a large deck off the back of the main level that overlooks the creek.
Our place is an affordable lodging alternative for Rocky Mountain skiing and snow sports. Sunlight, the local ski area, is an easy 15 mile drive and has cross-country as well as downhill skiing. It is a small family-friendly ski resort featuring reasonable rates for lifts and lessons (approximately 1/2 the cost of skiing in Vail or Aspen).
Snowmass Village and the three Aspen Ski mountains are only 40-45 miles away, an easy drive on 4-lane Highway 82. Beaver Creek Ski Area is 50 miles east on IH 70. There are a number of good snowshoeing areas in and around Glenwood Springs. After a day of skiing, visit the Hot Springs pool for a soak, or the Vapor Caves to steam and/or have a massage.
In the warmer months, enjoy cycling, hiking, swimming and rafting, and Glenwood Caverns & Adventure Park which features an aerial tramway, cavern tours, and some amazing-looking 'thrill rides.' Glenwood Canyon Resort, which is just up the road a half mile from the house, rents bikes and offers raft trips, and there are a number of rafting services in town that do also.
We are surrounded by National Forest land with hiking trails for all levels. Just down the road from the house is a paved hike & bike trail that goes into town, an easy walk/ride. The same trail takes you east through the entire length of Glenwood Canyon on 13 miles of paved hike & bike trail.
Other Activities:
