Our Saltwater Farmhouse is a classic 130+ year-old clapboard house with attached barn on 80 private acres, including woods and a hay field gently sloping to the rocky Maine coast. Reminders of its days as a working farm can be found in the carefully maintained barn, including stalls and antique farm equipment. Bicycles of all sizes, ping-pong, croquet, badminton and lawns large enough for soccer and baseball games will provide plenty of 'at home' activities. Cooking out can be on the deck or a short walk to grill on the rocks. Located on St. George Peninsula between the fishing villages of Tenants Harbor and Pt.Clyde, you are only a short distance from popular restaurants, kayaking, fishing, sailing, hiking, beaches, movie theaters, antique & novelty shops, Marshall Point Lighthouse, which was seen in the movie Forrest Gump, and ferries to nearby scenic islands. In nearby Rockland, the Farnsworth Museum with its collection of Wyeth paintings, is well worth a visit.

  • The master bedroom is downstairs and has a queen sized bed, antique armoire with glass door and antique chest-on-chest. It is warm and cozy and central to the activity of the house. Perfect for guests who choose not to climb stairs or family with young child, as you can block off the stairs. Upstairs bedrooms are all unique with charming antique decor/ crisp white walls and colorful original artwork. The sunlight in the upstairs rooms is lovely, especially with the breeze gently blowing the curtains. Adorable puppet theatre with puppets waiting for children in the twins bedroom. TV with satellite/HBO and DVD/VCR. Video and game library in TV room, off the master bedroom.

Notes: The downstairs bedroom would be suitable for anyone in a wheelchair; just one small step up to the porch and over the threshold. Gates can be provided to block stairs for young children. Cribs/high chair available upon request. The barn is a wonderland but young children need to be supervised as it is not childproofed. Ping pong table and basketball hoop are set up in the barn for rainy days. Bicycles of all sizes, croquet, badminton are all in the barn and ready for family game day. Firewood is by the fireplace; extra wood is in the barn. Begin the day on the back deck with a cup of hot tea, as you watch the fishermen haul in their catch.
