This beautiful, very private “casita style' studio, with separate outside entrance, is located on the walkout level of Brookside Retreat, on a quiet canopied lane in Hot Springs Village.
Your hosts, Jim and Jill Anderson and resident retrievers, Sadie and Mac, will do everything possible to make your stay as pleasant as possible. This south of the border inspired studio is just the place to relax and enjoy the wonders of nature that abound here! Take the paved walkway from the off-street parking to this special place, where the sounds of the woods and stream below offer serenity and peace for your special vacation.
Sunny Oaks features a comfortable sitting area with efficiency kitchen and soft, cozy places for reading and relaxing. The sleeping alcove features a chenille and quilt covered queen bed that faces the serenity of the forest thru full-length windows. A ¾ bath completes the interior. The studio is furnished with textiles and décor obtained from our visits to Ecuador, Mexico and Peru, along with original art and prints collected over many years. The spacious, covered 'cabana' deck provides for comfortable and private outdoor living, year around.
If you will be traveling with friends, think about adding on our Forest Glen Apartment (VRBO property # 193378), another wonderful oasis in the forest that is easily accessible from Sunny Oaks, yet with it's own private entrance and outdoor living.
Forest Glen is a one bedroom apartment featuring king bed; an efficiency kitchen with sitting area and full bath. Furnishings in Forest Glen are Asian/Indonesian/Eclectic. Just below the house, there is a woodland walkway leading to a forest deck and fire pit that overlooks the stream. This deck can be accessed from both Forest Glen and Sunny Oaks. It's a peaceful and serene place to enjoy the abundance of nature.
The location is ideal for those wanting easy access to all Village amenities, including golf courses, fitness center, trail systems, outdoor pools, tennis center and 12 beautiful lakes! Our quiet lane is a great place to take a “walk with nature” as it loops around thru the forest and back to your starting point..... exactly a mile in length. Along the way you may see deer, the red-tailed hawk, a turtle or two and lots of wildflowers. You may hear an owl and much conversation among birds in the canopy above. Sunny Oaks is 'dog friendly' and we will warmly welcome your travel companion, providing he/she has good house manners. A small pet fee is required.

Greetings from Jim and Jill Anderson and Hot Springs Village! I am a real estate broker and Jim has been a general contractor for 30 years, building everything from golf resorts to custom homes in PA, CO and AR. During the 90's in Durango, CO, we owned and operated Country Sunshine Bed and Breakfast. We miss many things about Colorado... including the awesome beauty, but we don't miss the cold or the snow and the high prices!
Jill Anderson purchased this studio in 2007
Today we are happily living the good life in Hot Springs Village. We decided on the Village after much on-line and in-person research. We wanted a beautiful spot, with low cost of living and lots of amenities that would be close to our children in Mississippi and Texas. We purchased our first townhome in 2007 and lived in it while we built our new home here. Later, we decided to keep the townhome and make it available to friends and family who visit and occasional paying guests. We have had so many requests for bookings that we decided last summer to add our guest apartment, here at the house, to give us two vacation rental options. This spring, we added a third property, another townhome, to the mix. So, now we have something for everyone and since we love hosting people who come to the Village to explore, play and enjoy themselves, we are truly in our element…..it’s almost like the B&B, but without the Breakfast!
We furnish our units with comfortable furniture and quality bedding. They are all nicely decorated with things we love….a few “family” antiques, original art and momentos we have picked up on our many travels. We are dog friendly, knowing that since our two golden retrievers are part of our family, your canine companions must be too! Come spend some time in the Village... play some golf, fish, hike, play tennis, swim, read and relax.... We look forward to making one of our vacation rentals your “home away from home”!
Our stay here was fantastic...the casita was well equipped and quite cozy for a relaxing, romantic get-a-way! Although we had a few days of cold and misty weather, our 8 day stay was the perfect combination of sight-seeing in Hot Springs and quiet, hot chocolate, Red-box movie, snuggling days. Jill and Jim have a real jewel tucked away in the forest on Mano Way...the sounds of the birds and the creek running through the backyard are a lovely bonus. The 26,000 acre gated community is fantastic and we tried to see as much of it as possible driving around all of the lakes and golf courses looking for deer and scouting out the water activities available for our next trip. YES we will definitely return, however I think next time we will shoot for late Summer or early Fall just so we can enjoy the water activities!!! As for Hot Springs...the Buck Staff bath house is a must...this 103 year old business has a great thing going...the bath, needle shower, hot wraps and massage are wonderful. Oh and the paraffin treatment leaves your hands so soft and smooth! We also checked out several of the shops downtown, the bath house museum, the wax museum and did the duck tour. Next trip we definitely have to go up in the tower and take the Belle on Lake Hamilton. Hot Springs and the village have a lot of great restaurants also. A few we really enjoyed were Rolando's downtown, El Acapulco on Hwy 7 near the village and The Shack and Home plate both in Jessieville. Back to the casita...like I said it's a true gem...we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Perfect for what we needed. We can't wait to book our next trip!
We thoroughly enjoyed every minute we stayed at the Sunny Oaks Casita. It was perfect for the two of us and our pup! Everything listed was there, and the view was spectacular - the price was great too, we couldn't believe that we got such a good deal! We loved the private patio and trail down to the stream below. The community is lovely - we spent some time hiking the trails and were able to see geese and deer. It is also fairly close to other Hot Springs amenities. I highly recommend the Sunny Oaks Casita and know that we will return in the future!
We were looking for an affordable, serene location to spend our 30th anniversary at, and we found it!!! Your beautiful and comfortable studio apartment (not a private cabin like the previous renter thought it was going to be, but your description did not say it was a private cabin), it was a great location to decompress and relax in the woods with wonderful amenities nearby. We loved the decor, the comfort, the privacy with the mini blinds/cafe curtain, the choice of books and movies, the covered deck (a fully covered roof now with shingles and not the cabana drape shown in the pics). To us, it was even better than your pics and your descriptions. We enjoyed being in the woods, but not too far from places to see and things to do. The scenic drives in the woods and up the mountain were beautiful. We highly recommend keeping a map of the village in your car because it WILL come in handy. There are several beautiful lakes to see/enjoy and several beautiful golf courses as well. We are not boaters or golfers at all, but we really enjoyed the beauty of those. If we were boaters or golfers, this would be a FANTASTIC place to live/retire. For us it was a great getaway from suburban life, and so beautiful. We see why Arkansas is called "The Natural State". The beauty of nature is what inspired us to come here, and we weren't disappointed at all. We had hoped to meet you and your dogs...we could hear them nights/mornings above our bed, but it only made us miss our dog that we left back at home with our daughter/son-in-law for the week. He doesn't have the best manners for staying at strange places, especially if we leave him for a few hours. We loved the sound of the creek below, and of the crickets/tree frogs at night. The frogs were loud, but they didn't bother us at all. We had lots of quiet prayer time in the mornings on the outdoor deck. A great place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning, or a beer/glass of wine in the evening. Also, the village has several churches to choose from for people of almost every denomination nearby. We found one for us just minutes from the apartment. We cooked many of our meals there, to save on expenses for the week long vacation in the area, but there were great cafes and restaurants nearby to dine at for those that prefer not to cook while on vacation. The only odd thing was having to strip the bed and fold the blankets according to your check out procedures, but we didn't mind. Great place to stay!!!
My husband and I stayed here 4 days over our Spring Break vacation. We were expecting a private, secluded cabin for a romantic get away. We got a room under a house. Although the description does not specify this, you are actually staying in someone's basement... while they are living above you. We were frequently awakened to vacuuming, dogs running and barking, and footsteps above us. While it is clean and well-maintained, it is not what I would call "private." It was little strange, especially since there was a door to our room from the house, which locked only on their side. Also, it should be noted that this is not the most convenient location if you are planning to sightsee and dine in Hot Springs. It's about a 40 minute drive on winding, curving roads after you manage to navigate out of the Village. There are 7 gates, but you can only get in and out of 2 without a keycard. I would recommend this property only if you are trying to save money and are specifically interested in activities inside the Village.
We spent five days at this beautiful property. It is well decorated and offers many wonderful books and movies to choose from when you need some downtime due to weather or just feel like relaxing. We really enjoyed the views from the large picture windows and even saw a few deer drinking from the stream below. We do hope to visit again soon.
We rented the cabin over our Spring break and it was absolutely stunning. I loved the area and the cabin was so warm and inviting. There are plenty of things to do nearby between Hot Springs and Little Rock and even right there in the village. It's an exquisite getaway for any traveler. Whether you plan to be active or just decompress in a cozy cabin it will be the perfect place. One of the things I am most greatful for is the reasonable cost of the stay. That's the only reason I was able to afford such a wonderful trip. Most places in such a nice area and great condition are quite expensive. I am extremely thankful to the Anderson's for offering guests such a warm and comfortable stay at such an amazing price. I would without a doubt recommend a stay here and I can't wait to tell my friends!
