I have been coming up to Sugar Springs since my parents purchased the property in 1976. I road through the lake in a 4 wheel jeep before it was filled with water. I used to own a remodeling business and now my hobby is to continually improve the property for my family and our guests.

Kent Filsinger purchased this cottage in 1976

I have spent 30 years improving the cottage to make your stay relaxing and memorable. Has all the amenities of a house but has the feel of a cottage with lots of natural wood and fishing and boating decor.

Almost every room has a view of the water. The gardens have been a long term on going love affair. Sitting on the garden swing or hammock totally relaxes me. Seeing the sunrise from the master bedroom always puts me in the right state of mind to start the day.

Our family rented “The Barn” for a week in August & had a wonderful time! It was large enough to accommodate all of us, 7 adults and 1 toddler without feeling crowded at all. It also had a very homey Up North feel to it which we really liked.

The lake itself is very peaceful and large enough that it never gets too crowded with boats either. We enjoyed the good fishing and kayaking it had to offer as well.

The property has a nice sandy beach area which was perfect for our grandson. The lawn had many nice areas to enjoy with 2 decks and even an outdoor wooden swing.

We highly recommend this property to people of all ages. It’s the perfect place for family fun and relaxation!

EXCELLENT Property - A+ Experience

This was the first time our family / extended family had rented a cottage. It was EXACTLY what we were hoping for and more.

The lake is beautiful and quiet. The water was too cold still, but we went at the beginning of June. My father-in-law went fishing most mornings and caught a large bass during our stay.

The lawn and waterfront are both great, and it was totally bug-free. We had no problem staying outside in the evening. The sand at the beachfront was nice for the little ones in our families to play in. There are plenty of adirondack chairs on the deck and there is a decent size charcoal grill that we used most days.

Lake Lancer and Lake Lancelot have lots of little "fingers"/peninsulas that extend into them, so the cottages have a very secluded feel to them. The winding (paved) roads around the lake made for great biking / jogging / walking throughout the week.

The cottage sits on a cul de sac on one of the little peninsulas. It's deceptively large. There is one bedroom downstairs that has a Queen/Full (not sure which it is technically), and it had room for a Pack-n-Play for an infant next to the bed. This is the snuggest of the three bedrooms, but has a decent closet, dresser, and desk. The rest of the main floor has a laundry room, full bathroom, fully-stocked kitchen, living room - which is open to the kitchen and has a newer flat screen TV / DVD player, and game room with a pool table.

The upstairs has two bedrooms and a 1/2 bath. Both upstairs bedrooms are larger, with the Master bedroom actually being quite large.

We comfortably slept 7 adults, 1 toddler, and 3 infants during our stay. The cottage has a rustic feel to it, which is what we were hoping for. For the most part, it is clean and well-kept.

We had great cell service (all with Verizon) the entire trip.

There are two golf courses very close by, both of which we played and liked. There is also an indoor pool facility that is really nice, and tennis courts as well.

Highly recommend!
Owner's Response: Thank you for the very nice review. We ask for feedback from every guest for suggestions to improve the cottage. Last year we added additional lighting in the kitchen per a guests suggestion. The rustic feel of the cottage with all the amenities is exactally what we stive for to acheive the get away from it all feeling.

We loved this place

We have stayed in Home Away rentals for several years, and this place is up at the top of the list of places we've been to. Everybody in our party had a great time. My parents have gone with us every year, but my Mother passed away last fall, and my Father wasn't ready to go with us, without her. But I'm sure they would have loved the place also. It has friendly neighbors, but you also get the sense of seclusion. The water was still too cold, so we did't do much in the water. The central air was really nice, during the day.

What a gem, this cottage is really authenic. We loved our stay there so much we booked for next year already and are thinking of going in the fall color season. It was a really well maintained cottage built in the 1970's. It is crazy charming and comfortable. The central air was an added bonus, as it was wicked hot the week we were there. Our kids LOVED the beach, they would wake up and go to the beach first thing, they stayed there all week. Our dog was comfortable in the large dog pen. The owner was really nice to work with he made us feel very welcomed. We forgot the door alarm code and almost paniced, but we called him and left a massage, he called right back and we all had a good laught. I can highly recommend this vacation home.
