The perfect family getaway!

We had an absolutely great experience renting from the owners, Joan and John. They really made us feel welcome in their home and provided helpful insight into the best local attractions and merchants.
The property is immaculately maintained. The layout was perfect for our family gathering with a large living area that comfortably accommodated both children and adults. Additionally, the house is laid out to allow individuals to relax and get away for some quiet time. The gourmet kitchen was stocked with everything one might need and was big enough that several family members could help in the meal preparations. The views from the house are picturesque. It was wonderful waking up every morning and having coffee on one of the back porches. The main house also offered a large game room with ping pong and foosball and a great selection of cds, movies, and books. The interior of the house was wonderful, with two of the nicest showers that we have ever had the pleasure to use (including one 2 person steam shower). The only complaint that we had was that the house had a great fireplace that we regrettably could not use during August.
In addition to the main house, there is also a quaint cottage that is fully equipped with a mini refrigerator, coffee maker, full bathroom, AC, and screened porch. Although the highlight for all of the kids was the fire pit where we relaxed on the provided camping chairs and roasted smores most nights.
There are many attractions in the area including a great swimming hole and some nearby trails. We highly recommend Bearfence Mountain, Dark Hallow Falls, Old Rag Mountain, Carter Mountain Orchards and Winery, Luray Caverns, The Bavarian Chef, and Yodders Market. We made some great memories and would highly recommend staying here if you are interested in visiting the Shenandoah Valley area.
