Area: Greenpoint and Williamsburg New York's newest bohemian area, are one of the hottest places in town with a dynamic mix of art galleries, boutiques, bars and restaurants. It is home to the largest artist colony in the United States.
Location: The apartment is located on a quiet tree lined street. It is just two blocks away from all your shopping needs. (Groceries, banks, restaurants, a farmer's market, a gym and medical services. )
The place is a short walk away from Transmitter Park and its stunning views of the Manhattan.
The G line Greenpoint Ave station is 5min walking destance from the house.
The L line Bedford Ave station is a 10-15 minute walk and only one stop from Manhattan.
The 'East River Ferry' stops on India Street - it takes you in 15min to Manhattan or Brooklyn Bridge area.
Although I have lived in New York for many years and consider myself a New Yorker, I was born in Europe and travel a lot all around the world.
For me, my vacation rental is more than just a business. It is the joy I get from making my guests feel at home in our townhouse, as well as helping them to discover the dynamic and creative energy that New York has to offer.
My husband Geoffrey is a high school history teacher. He speaks German, Spanish and French and helps greet our international guests.
Spent a wonderful 10 days in the apartment in September 09. Perfectly located for the 'happening' scene of Greenpoint & Williamsburg, and 10 mins walk to the subway on Bedford where its one stop to Manhattan East Village. Maryla made us more than welcome & the apartment is great. Definitely recommended and I can't wait for my next visit!
We have just returned from spending 10 days in the Clifford place apartment. It was exactly as depicted in the photos - beautifully clean and incredibly well maintained with every possible convenience. Each bedroom had plenty of room and storage space along with very comfortable beds and lovely cotton sheets.
Maryla met us at the apartment as agreed and provided fantastic information about the area.
The apartment is situated on the border of Greenpoint and Williamsburg which is the perfect place to be. There is an abundance of fantastic restaurants and great shopping in the local area as well as a beautiful park. The most convenient way to Manhattan - we found - was a 10 minute walk through the park to the L line subway that will have you into Manhattan in 1 stop.
It was so nice to have the lovely clean space of the apartment rather than a small hotel room to come back to after each very full day.
We definitely plan to return to stay at the apartment soon and would not hesitate in recommending it.
Very clean and well decorated, with thoughtful touches in kitchen and bathroom, we felt very comfortable here. The location was perfect for Greenpoint and the owner was helpful and available if needed.
We visited New York for the first time to celebrate our children's 18th and 21st birthdays and wanted somewhere special to stay - and Maryla's apartment was perfect.
Beautifully decorated and elegant, it has some nice original features and was particularly lovely as the owner Maryla had decorated it for our Christmas stay.
We loved Greenpoint as it was quite villagey yet only a few minutes by train or ferry from Manhattan. There are a huge variety of restaurants and cafes including Icelandic and Swedish ones, which became our locals. My son was determined to try an American diner and there was a great one up the road. We often used a deli called The Garden for pick up food for tea.
The whole area was originally owned by Norwegian then Dutch settlers and it still retains a unique individual feel. It felt perfectly safe and was a great base for exploring New York. We loved so much of it - Tiffany's, MOMA, the Empire State Building (I was surprised how much I loved it), film locations (we went on our own You've Got Mail tour). You can do cool things like visit a 1930s carousel under Brooklyn Bridge they walk over it to Ground Zero.
I can't praise the apartment, area and New York enough - there's far too much to put in this review.
In particular, Maryla was a fantastic host and helped us with anything we needed - she even got up at 4 am to make sure we got our return taxi ok! Emails were always answered promptly which gave a great sense of security and confidence in the holiday.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the apartment or Maryla. Amazing!
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful five-day vacation at Maryla's apartment. The two bedroom apartment allowed our family of four plenty of space to relax after touring the city. Every amenity is provided - plenty of dishes, bedding, washer/dryer, etc. The neighborhood is charming, and it was nice to explore a quieter neighborhood when needing a break from the energy of Manhattan. Maryla was there when we arrived and made sure that everything was as expected. We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend this apartment to anyone.
