From the first view of the house to the final closing of the balcony door, our stay at The Sandcastle was THE BEST! The owners, who are just lovely to work with, have done a fantastic job of making this beach rental your home away from home. All the basics you'll need for a great vacation experience are provided for you. The place is huge, yet wonderfully cozy, and offers privacy and togetherness in equal amounts (not an easy feat to achieve). 12 of us stayed for a week and never once felt crowded (the oceanview balconies are a haven). Speaking of the ocean, The Sandcastle is only a few dozen steps away from the gorgeous white-sand beach! We found some great shells, enjoyed watching the surfers, and had a blast with all the beach toys that are provided for guests (chairs, umbrellas, and beach towels are provided as well). As for The Sandcastle's proximity to the surrounding area, it's close to everything St. Augustine has to offer. Historic St. Augustine is a 15-minute drive away. Marineland's dolphins frolic a 20-minute drive down the pretty coast. There are excellent restaurants mere steps away (Mango Mangos and Beahcombers are must go's!). Other excellent restaurants are just minutes away by car (Salt Water Cowboys and Sunset Grille are other must-eat-there's!). Despite it being in a bustling neighborhood, The Sandcastle is a quiet retreat that offers more than most, all at a great value. I'll be recommending it to everyone I know!
