David is a retired juvenile justice officer and a self-employed business owner. He has lived in Alaska since graduating from high school in 1976. Jane is a fisheries biologist with the federal government. She moved to Alaska in 1994 after visiting on vacation. Jane also sells Alaska art - primarily Fred Machetanz; most of her framed pieces fro sale are hanging in the house - she has more unframed for sale. Just ask!
Jane & David purchased this house in 2009
Jane owned a Kenai river view cabin in Funny River since 1996, which she recently sold. David and Jane upgraded to this beautiful home ON the Kenai River in Winter 2009.
Moose in the yard, eagles overhead, ducks and gulls swooping in on small fish. The fishing for king salmon, red salmon, silver salmon, and rainbow trout is FANTASTIC! The house is at the end of a road with only a half dozen houses - very quiet. You can hear the river flow from the sunny deck.
We had a great time again. Thanks for letting us stay in your beautifual home. We caught some fish and had a blast sight seeing including the bear across the river. Hope to come back again.
My wife and I spent four days on the ground floor of this beautiful house in August of 2014. It was a B & B arrangement as the owner, David, was living upstairs on the third floor. Plenty of comfort and privacy. Great to have David on site as he was helpful with advice about exploring the area and fishing. The large fishing platform below the house was fantastic. Make sure to bring a few days worth of groceries and other items unless you want to drive the 17 to 20 miles into Soldotna each day- although there is a small (limited) general store, just four miles down the road. Relax on the deck, catch the afternoon sun, and grill the catch of the day. Then sit around the fire pit at night and watch the stars while listening to the river roll on by. Paradise in Alaska!
This was such a great little vacation. My parents came in from Montana and we stayed here for three nights. it was a little late in the fishing season but we were able to catch three silvers (coho) from the dock right at the house. 25, 26 and 27 inches long. It was also an easy commute to Homer, AK for a nice half day halibut trip. From a guy who lives here in Alaska year around this place made me wish I had a place on the Kenai river. Absolutely beautiful. I would do it again in a heart beat.
Thank you so much, the house was very clean and ready for visitors...
The pictures don't give the place enough credit, absolutely beautiful. Every thing we needed was provided, only regret is we couldn't stay any longer. Kinda out of the way but totally worth it.
I was extremely satisfied with our stay it was way better than the pictures we had a relaxing weekend get away in a beautiful home you can sit on the deck and listen to the water and birds the best part of all was there wasn't a lot of bugs around which was very surprising seeing it is right by the river anything you will need is in the house for you to use Outstanding and I want to come back again you can fish right outside in the back yard !!!
What a great time we had staying at your lovely home. Thanks for sharing. There was nothing bad I can say about the home. It had all the ementies we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. The place was very clean and comfortable. Oh and did I mention the view. Just sitting on the deck or the dock made for a vacation in it self. We hope to return sometime in the future. We would recommend this property to anyone. Of course the fishing was good.
our stay at the house on Kenai was more then we expected. Our family from New Jersey were very impressed with the house. The downstairs was so great for the teenagers who needed a place to play games and watch TV until all hours. They were also impressed with the big screen TV. I think my brother-in-law referred to it as his dream home and took pictures of the whole house.
World Famous Salmon Fishing!
Wildlife viewing - eagles, geese, ducks, moose, hares, sometimes a lynx or a bear!
