unforgettable vacations in Paleokastritsa!

  • 5 of 5
It was our first visit to Greece, and first flight abroad with very small kids (under 2 y.o.).
The area couldn’t be more beautiful.
The Ipsia Apartments is situated on a hill amongst the olive groves and has the immense view of the sea and the Monastery,
We stayed on the first floor of the house – a four-bedroom apartment with living-room and kitchen, which is fully equipped with everything one with kids might need. The ground floor and the first floor have separate entrances and own yards with hammocks and BBQ, large areas for playing with kids. So we even rarely saw our neighbours.
Our four families (meaning the same quantity of the strollers) were overcoming the altitude up to the house easily considering it as a form of fitness. Without a stroller the road up is just a slight rising. Anyway George the owner was whenever ready to give us a lift either down or up.
Besides, all the adjacent beaches and surroundings are very easy to get to. From the Ipsia there is a picturesque road to the Agia Triada Beach which is pebbled.
The closest beach (and the most popular) is just 5-6 minutes walking down. There is a variety of snack bars and cafes there, as well as several nice restaurants: Alladino, Nikos and Limani (Limani is situated closer to the Alipa Port).
On the way to the beach there is the bus stop from where it’s so easy to get to the city of Kerkura (around 35-40 min.).
The closest minimarket is also 5 min walk down (on the way to the beach) which has almost all the products you might need except fresh meat and fish. For more variety of goods there are larger supermarkets close to the city, around 12 km, but the owner kindly gave us a lift there once a week, as we constantly needed fresh stuff for the kids.
Paleokastritsa itself as a town stretches along the seashore for about 4 km and walking the main road you can make wonderful shots of the sea and stop at one of the numerous tavernas on the way. There is also an option to stop in one of the pool-bars, where you can swim in the pool, having ordered any food and drinks.

George and his wife Eutihia helped and supported us all month long we stayed in, paying the special thoughtful attention to our kids’ staying.
George is the sweetest owner we ever met, and a very kind person as well.
Thank you George and your family for our great vacations!

A two-weeks-stay of our family in Paleokastritsa.

Corfu is a wonderful island and Paleo is a beautiful village with exceptionally great beaches and wonderful green hills. The description of the neighbourhood is correct. We do not have a car, but we walked twice to Angelokastro and passed the woodcarver's shop of Mr. Alkis, which is truly worth a visit. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to visit. You have to make your own choice. By green bus you can travel across the island. We went to the capital and to the Achilleion, the stunning palace of Sissy.
There are many nice water-related activities. Just try what seems fun to you.
The property was very clean and well-maintained. The garden on the south side is very nice. When you stay in the big appartment upstairs, you can use a small garden area on the other side of the house which is not that attractive. Without view.
Confusing about the description is that there is not just an 8-persons-apartment (above), but below there are three 2-persons-apartments (kitchen + beds in one room). Be careful about booking the right one! These small apartments (kitchens) are poorly equipped. Only two pots and almost no useful items. The kitchen above is very well equipped.
When we arrived we (parents + 3 kids) were put in the three separate apartments below, because our first week was double-booked. We had to collect all kitchen equipment in the middle apartment and improvise a livingroom. The owner apologised and gave us a discount, but it was unhandy. We asked for a diningtable and extra chairs. This was arranged immediately. The good thing was that we had use of the nice garden and there was good air-conditioning in each apartment. Unfortunately a family with many young children stayed above us which was very noisy.
Halfway our stay we moved to the big, well-equipped upper apartment with balconies. One minus: there are just fans in the bedrooms. They do not cool. Air-conditioning: in the livingroom and kitchen.
The house is situated on a very nice spot, but it is a steep walk to the beach and back. The grocery is quite expensive, but 2,5 km. back is a bigger and cheaper store and an ATM-machine.
The owner and family are very nice, helpful people, who want to please you in every way they can. It was a shame the booking of the apartment went wrong.
I would not recommend this place to older people because of the steep hill. Even by car it might be tough. I do not know about pets. Ask the owner.
We had an unforgettable, lovely vacation. Paleo is the best!

Paleokastritsa is famous for its breathtaking beauty and magnificent scenery. 6 beaches with incredibly clean turquoise water nestle in a coastline of hills and promontories. The type of place where you will quickly make friends with locals and be drawn back to its beauty and charm again and again. Retaining a fairly laid back atmosphere this is the perfect retreat for families and anyone wishing to escape the bustle of every day life. The area here has a diving center-school with the best diving spots in the Ionian sea. You can rent a boat to explore the magnificent shoreline and discover 14 isolated beaches. You can enjoy the numerous water sports. Local “tavernas” are renowned for serving up the town's delicious catches. In the promontory about a mile from the beach, a medieval castle, Angelokastro, overlooks the area, sited on a hilltop which can be reached by a very scenic drive via the village of Lakones, or on foot, though the walk is arduous. A tennis court and a museum nearby

Other Activities: water sports

Golf: Corfu Golf Club. Ten miles away.
