Las Piedras (The Rocks) is an easy-going, laid-back and extremely comfortable oceanfront beach house located on one of the most dramatic spots on Vieques-- situated above an unusual large outcropping of volcanic rock, the house is imaginatively designed to incorporate the existing boulders and fantastic ocean views. Las Piedras has two bedrooms plus the funky basement Rock Room, to accommodate up to eight adults. The house is on the north shore of the island with breathtaking views of Puerto Rico, Culebra and, on clear days, St. Thomas . Because of it's design, Las Piedras is not appropriate for children under twelve years of age.

A well-known designer of unique New York City lofts built Las Piedras as his own dream house. Every part of the house is built to take advantage of the fantastic views, and was designed and situated to best catch the ocean breezes. Then the house was surrounded with palm trees, so you feel as if you are being fanned from every angle.

The open plan of the upper floor flows from living room to dining area to kitchen with vaulted ceilings and incredible views. The dining area is surrounded by windows on three sides and is just off the fully equipped kitchen (complete with refrigerator/freezer and ice maker with a door dispenser, range, microwave, blender, coffeemaker, dishwasher and trash compacter). This spacious upper level has 9-foot tall glass doors across the entire length of the house, which leads out to a large waterfront deck. There is a large bathroom on this floor featuring a 4 person tub.

Downstairs is a comfortable den leading to a covered deck and the pool. There are two spacious, air-condtioned bedrooms on this level. The Master Bedroom features a California king size platform bed and a master bath. The second bedroom has two queen-sized beds. A one-of-a-kind bathroom built into the existing stone is across the hall. The crashing waves will literally lull you to sleep. In the basement is a unique, air-conditioned bedroom with its own full bathroom. Built around huge rocks, this bedroom is separate from the rest of the house and only for the adventurous. It features a queen-sized bed and an outdoor stairway leading upstairs to the pool and den. Please note, this bedroom is never rented separately.

My family of 6 spent the week at Las Piedras. The house is located RIGHT on the beach which is wonderful for strolling and beachcombing each day. We enjoyed many days sitting on the balcony/patio watching the occasional surfer and watching the waves come in and fell asleep each night to the sound of the waves. This beach house had everything we needed though internet was spotty (and no TV-to my pleasure but the teens dismay!). The house was clean and well maintained. Mark did a great job showing us to the house and orienting us to the island upon arrival. We loved the Biobay in the clear kayaks with Gary at Viegues Adventures and horseback riding with Elizabeth at Esperenza Riding Company. You definitely want a car to explore all the beautiful and almost deserted beaches on Vieques. Superdesquento Morales has the best produce of the grocery stores and the Sol Food truck has amazing food but sells out so quickly you need to stop by between 11am and 1pm. Fantastic brownies. We don't generally go to the same place twice but we would very happily return to Viegues and Las Piedras.

This place is a dream! From the moment we walked in you knew you were in a very special location. With the beach the pool and the entire house being the perfect place to relax, and let all your cares of a busy world melt away spacious house is gives you plenty of room to not feel cramped and still leaves you feeling completely at home. The views are unvbelievable and any amount of time that you spend here will leave you feeling that you want more. The sites on the island are a blast and the locals are great people to share a cocktail or beer with at some of the coolest beach bars ever. Can't wait to go back again and again.

What an unbelievable experience my friends and I had in this gem of a house. Wonderful location with access to everything you need. Secluded and private, we came back relaxed and rejuvenated.

Absolutely gorgeous house. It's right on the water and in great condition. I wish I could pack up my things and move into it year round. I can't decide what I like best about it: waking up to the sound of the ocean, having a cup of coffee on the deck while looking into the sea, swimming in the pool, or snorkeling right outside the property.

The best vacation house I've ever stayed in.

i could not believe what an amazing place Las Piedras is. From the minute we arrived we had the most blissful time. We thought we would spend a lot of time going around Vieques but the first time we were there we barely left the house. we cooked, swam in the pool, lied at the beach, just generally de-stressed and let the beauty roll over us. there is not one room, one corner, that does not afford the most memorable, beautiful views. this house is the most perfect place i have ever seen.
