This place was everything everyone said it would be- it was amazing. We loved being on the first floor and walking right out to the pool and beach. We had our 2 year old son and he loved the pool and then running back to the condo. And we had our 16 year old son and he loved being so close to the beach club- he para sailed one day and we all did a snorkeling trip another. Having a dishwasher and washing machine was really helpful! We cooked most of our meals but went to Albertos two night for dinner (only place nearby open for dinner- 5 min away) and into town once- both were great!
Three quick things to note for any first time Cozumel travelers:
1- We wished we had ordered our groceries but you need to do it two weeks in advance (we found this place a couple of days before). Going to the grocery store after a day of traveling was exhausting so I would recommend doing this at least to have a few things there for you when arrive http://www.cozumelchef.com/services/grocery-shopping/
2- We needed a pack and play and were able to rent one from Baby in Paradise http://www.babyinparadise.com/. They delivered it and picked it up and it in really nice shape! They have a lot of good baby gear and are great people!
3- We rented a car but did not prepay for insurance because we have car insurance and credit cards but in Mexico neither of these are accepted and if you do not pay for the insurance in advance they charge you A TON at the counter. We had no choice because needed the car with the car seat. The people in back of us had booked that morning online and paid a fifth of what we did for the insurance.
This property was exactly what it said it was! Felt as comfortable as being home.
The Residencias Reef condos are beautifully maintained, with a great pool and wonderful private beach! And of these condos, I think we stayed at the best one! This condo is located on the main floor, so we loved being able to walk out to the pool in about twenty seconds, while also having direct access to, and view of, the ocean! It was beautiful, and incredibly convenient. The condo was clean, and well-equipped with nice amenities (loved having a washer/dryer for swimsuits) and lots of space. There is optional housekeeping while you are there, and the property manager stopped by to make sure all of our needs were being met! It was great.
Additionally, we are both scuba divers and loved the convenience of the condos. There is a pier on the beach, where our boat was able to pick us up every day- for the southern diving sites, it was such a short boat ride! Plus, again, the spaciousness of the condos was nice for bringing along all of our scuba gear.
Personally, we rented a car and really enjoyed the flexibility it gave us- town is a short drive (less than ten minutes) away, so we were able to get groceries or go eat wherever we wanted (the condo provides a large packet of information and restaurant recommendations, which we used often). However, there were others at the condo who did not rent a car, and had no problem calling cabs when they wanted to go into town. There are plenty of restaurants near the condo, along the beach, though we very much enjoyed having at least several meals on our pleasant balcony!
Overall, the owner of the condo was incredibly easy and accommodating, and we could not recommend this condo enough! We will be sure to return!
After a long day of travel we arrived and were welcomed by Louis who is the general manager. Incredibly nice...and he showed us to our new home. From the moment we opened the door and stepped inside we were enchanted. What a joy it is to search for and find what you hope is the perfect place and then actually find that you really did it! Read all the reviews and know this, there is no exaggeration, false claims, or misinformation in any of them. All the conveniences of home and then some are at your finger tips. With the beautiful swimming pools, beach, and ocean just a few steps from your patio and good food beach bar's left and right, one might rightly imagine arriving in paradise. The owner, Ionel, is very forthcoming and helpful with inside info on anything you need to know. Again, Louis as well as all of the support staff are in our opinion a remarkable example of putting a smile on pure professionalism and it was a joy to be on the receiving end of their attentions. Well Done to a splendid team! Of coarse we could go on and on about how wonderful and beautiful the island is, and of course it truly is. We love it and you might wonder if we loved it enough to plan a return trip next fall...Absolutely!
We were there for 10 of the most glorious days of our lives! The condo was PERFECT and felt like home. You won't find anything better! John, the owner was wonderful. Make sure to rent a car as it is so cheap! Smart or Blue Way are your best bets! Miguel was fantastic--make sure to utilize all his many talents! He knows EVERYTHING about ANY excursion/activity you may want to experience. Reyna came to the condo and cooked the Grouper, Red Snapper and Lobster that we caught, along with rice, beans, potatoes, veggies and fresh guacomole--and she cleaned it all up afterwards too!! We went to Chichenitza, Playa, horseback riding, scuba diving, deep sea fishing. Our FAVORITE places: Chen Rio-drive past the tiki building, you will find wonderful tide pools to lie in and relax. Punta Sur is a MUST!! This is gorgeous-were they film the Corona Beer commercials. Our fave Mexican restaurant is Los Otates--you won't be disappointed-great food and CHEAP! Camilo's had amazing fried shrimp tacos for $2 each! We will definitely be back!! Thank you John, for sharing your beautiful home with us!!!
The grounds of the condo complex are very well maintained. Throughout the day friendly staff can be seen tending to the well manicured grounds, looking after the pool, etc. The condo has its own private sandy beach and there are padded loungers on the beach and at each of the two pools. The condo has its own rinse tank, which I observed was emptied and refilled daily. There is ample free parking and security is present 24/7. The condo is at km marker 14 (8.4 miles), so it is an expensive taxi ride to town (150 pesos or $12 each way). As you can rent a car for $12-13 per day, car rental was the option we chose.
This is a ground floor condo located in building # 4 and faces one of the pools and the Caribbean beyond. There is a lovely patio with table & 2 chairs, fan, awning, and outdoor lighting so it can be enjoyed day or night. The condo is well appointed and has every amenity. To name just a few: king bed, huge bathroom, washer & dryer, automatic dishwasher, full fridge & stove, microwave, blender, toaster, (no toaster oven), coffee drip, 40" flat screen TV, satellite (though the 4 major network are not available), dining table & chairs for 6, comfortable sofa, Vonage phone for free calls to Canada and the US, free wifi, in-room safe, etc. You will want for nothing in this condo. And the owner Ionel/John is a pleasure to deal with. A few days after our arrival he called to ask if everything was to our liking and said to call him if we needed anything. Housekeeping is available for $35 a visit, but as the condo includes a broom as well as a washer and dryer, who needs housekeeping. You will not regret renting this condo !
Next door is an all inclusive hotel with a dock and its own dive shop. If you dive with another dive shop, the hotel supposedly charges $3/day for pickup on their warf, but I was never charged during my 2 week stay.
