Most relaxing, best 4th of July

What a great place to stay, beautiful, clean, quiet home. Sitting on the porch with family you get that old small town America feeling. Forth of July week in Eastport is a fun filled time for young and old alike.
Early morning risers can walk to the local bakery and enjoy a wonderful treat and coffee.
Late night has plenty to offer. Chowder House, Happy Crab are both great.
Just a short walk to the little rock beach lets children find shells and see a seal or two.
The house is allows you to just relax and unwind and has everything you need. We hope to return for another visit, we made many happy memories.

A Peaceful Retreat

Our family of 4 throughly enjoyed our stay at the Franklin House. The house was warm and comfy. Our girls (ages 19 & 13) enjoyed having their own rooms and commented frequently on the comfort of the beds. We were surprised to find out that you shouldn't drink the Eastport water, but the owners kindly left several gallons of drinking water in the refrigerator for us. There were also flowers & wine to greet us when we arrived. The house was very clean and you could tell was well cared for. The kitchen had all of the necessary items for basic cooking (which I do so we don't have to eat out every night). My husband and I enjoyed the view of the bay while sitting on the front porch. The owners checked in with us via email and went out of their way to be sure we had everything we needed.
The city of Eastport was an enjoyable day adventure - we saw whales in the bay off of the pier and did a little shopping. Most of our time was spent in Canada though which is just a jump across the bridge or a hop on the ferry. Campobello Island is a must see - great trails as well as the Roosevelt summer home. The hike to East Quoddy lighthouse on the northern tip of the island was scary, but worth the effort. (There's a $5/person charge.) Whales often visit this end, but we didn't see any. We visited Mulholland lighthouse on the southern end and saw at least 20 seals playing in the water. We also enjoyed a day trip to St. Andrew's by the Sea in New Brunswick to visit Kingsbrae Gardens (a top 10 garden of Canada). The town of St. Andrew's was charming and there were plenty of picnic areas by the beach to enjoy lunch and the view. On the way we stopped by Minister's Island which is only accessible by a naturally formed gravel road at low tide - so you're driving on the ocean floor! There is a tour of the house & grounds, but we arrived too late in the day to visit those. (The tide was just starting to come in.) Crossing back and forth from Canada to the US was easy and we found the border guards pleasant. Bring your passports.
My family highly recommends a stay at the Franklin House - a lovely, peaceful retreat.

Wonderful vacation in a comfortable home

Beautiful location with views of Campobello. The home is beautifully appointed and perfect for a family. Sit on the porch with your cup of coffee and enjoy the sunrise or relax at the end of the day with a glass of wine. Just a 5 minute walk to downtown. Our children age 6 and 10 enjoyed the freedom of exploring the beach and walking to downtown Eastport.
