Why My Place is So Special
NEW 2013. You now have the option of having the Pool House too! Through a breezeway, friends, guests or additional family can have their own space with two large bedrooms, one with a gorgeous view towards the ocean. They also have their own breakfast nook, a red and natural wood sunroom where they will think they are outdoors. And it leads right to the pool. The Pool House can only rented in conjunction with the Great Blue Heron. With the addition of more bedrooms, and at the request of some guests, we are mowing an area on a flat field adjacent to one side of the house for ball games.
Calling our beach one of the finest is not an overstatement. The sand is soft, white and plentiful. The surf has enough oomph to keep you mindful, but perhaps the best part of this mile long beach is privacy. Sometimes you may even find yourself alone when you take a morning or evening walk.
Crescent Surf Beach is grounded at one end by a turn-of-the century, enormous cottage built by my great-grandfather and at the other by a conservation area for Least Terns and Piping Plovers my mother donated to the Rachel Carson Preserve. Beyond the nesting birds, warmer waters of Little River head to the sea twice daily. Fishermen cast off the shore or wade out to catch strippers at Little River; they fish from Hart's Rocks in front of the Big House or at neighboring Mousam River.
Your house, called Great Blue Heron, is so filled with light that the professional photographer who took the shots for VRBO said, 'This is the only place where I've never had to turn on lights to do a shoot.' The furniture is new, attractive and comfortable. Some of my guests delight in studying the many works of art in the house.
It takes five minutes walking over a dirt, tree-lined road and over a short grassy path to reach the beach.
The in-ground 18 by 30 foot pool with an outdoor hot and cold shower, provides for real swimming and quick dips. A solar roll back cover keeps the water ten degrees warmer than normal. The water source is a 150 year old spring fed well. During very dry periods I request your cooperation to limit water use.
NEW flower and vegetable gardens, all organic. Receive or pick some of your favorites.
No harmful chemicals anywhere. I recently installed two bat homes and several bird baths, all designed to keep insects away.
The sole owner sometimes frequents an annex, but never to disturb.
When leaving this paradise, you're only 3 miles to Kennebunkport, 10 to Ogunquit and 30 to L.L.Bean.
The nearest paved road, Route 9, is so far away little traffic can be heard; you only hear the crashing of surf and birds flying overhead. Maybe you’ll spot the moose in the marsh. Nature, the ocean, a pool, wildlife, wild flowers, all these pleasures of summer await you at competitive pricing. Perfect for that family gathering. Book now.
Keywords: Almost two miles of fine-white sand on two beautiful private beaches await you. From on a 30 foot hill in your architect designed home enjoy the best New England offers: acres of nature that would captivate Thoreau himself and the Atlantic Ocean. Every one will love the large, in-ground pool, kept warm with a solar cover. The water pump works 24/7 to help maintain cleanliness. Lounge outdoors on three decks: one screened in, one on the East and one on the West. One is always perfect.
Two large bedrooms and a bath stand apart from the others, with their own breakfast nook, sun room and private door to pool patio, making this its own independent area.
Outdoor activities abound: walk alone or with your dog on the beach or on the many trails; bird-watch; take nature photographs; kayak from nearby tidal dock on the Mousam River or the ocean; fish for stripped bass at three locations; cycle private roads or star gaze into dark skies. From the decks you'll see a fantastic view of some ocean, plenty of tidal marsh, an apple orchard, fields and beautiful treescapes. Ideal place to bring the family together for a special occasion.
