Contemporary Home on 20 acres of pristine nature, 3 Bedroom,2 Bath,Sleeps 6
Why My Place is So Special
Calling our mile long beach one of the finest anywhere is not an overstatement. The surf has just enough oomph to keep you mindful, but perhaps the best part of this expansive beach is privacy. Sometimes you may even find yourself alone when you take a morning or evening walk with your dog.
Crescent Surf Beach is grounded at one end by a turn-of-the century, enormous cottage built by my great-grandfather and at the other by a conservation area for Least Terns and Piping Plovers my mother donated to the contiguous Rachel Carson Preserve. Beyond the nesting birds, warmer waters of Little River head to the sea twice daily. Fishermen cast off the shore or wade out to catch strippers at Little River; they fish from Hart's Rocks in front of the Big House or at neighboring Mousam River.
Five minutes away by foot, The Farm is an inland treasure. Ten open acres of 100 year old apple orchard, gently rolling empty fields, expansive tidal marsh, woods to peep through and be amazed with huge oak, maples and 100 feet high white pine. The Farm can provide you with a spiritual retreat, an exclusive backdrop for family reunions or a rejuvenation for creative minds.
Your house, called The Farm, is so filled with light that the professional photographer who took the shots for VRBO said, 'This is the only place where I've never had to turn on lights to do a shoot.' The furniture is new, attractive and comfortable. Many of my guests take delight in the many works of art.
There are 3 bedrooms in the main house. Through a breezeway, at an additional cost, friends, guests or additional family have their own space with two large bedrooms, one, The Ocean Room, with a gorgeous view of the ocean and the other, The Wood Room, made of wood, with mesmerizing views of birds, fields and forest. They also have their own breakfast nook, a red and natural colored wood sun room where they will feel they are outdoors...and it has a door leading right to the pool.
A mowed area on a flat field adjacent to one side of the house is ideal for ball games. New this year, within the open ball field, is a full size labyinth for those people who wish to contemplate within beautiful surroundings.
It takes five minutes walking over a dirt, tree-lined road and over a short grassy path to reach the beach.
The in-ground 18 by 30 foot pool with an outdoor hot and cold shower, provides for real swimming or quick refreshing dips. A solar roll back cover keeps the water ten degrees warmer than normal.
The water source is a 150 year old spring fed well. During dry periods I request your cooperation to limit water use.
From the flower garden, receive or pick some of your favorites.
I use limited chemicals. I recently installed two bat homes and several bird baths, all designed to keep insects away. New screens, doors and air temperature equipment, keep your home comfortable in all weather.
When leaving your paradise, you're only 2 miles to Kennebunkport, 10 to Ogunquit and 30 to L.L.Bean.
The quiet is ubiquitous. No neighbors in sight. The nearest paved road, Route 9, is so far away little traffic can be heard; you only hear the crashing of surf and birds overhead. Maybe you’ll spot the moose in the marsh. Nature, the ocean, a pool, wildlife, wild flowers, all these pleasures of summer await you at competitive pricing. Perfect for that family gathering. Book now.
Keywords: Two beautiful private beaches await you. From on a 30 foot hill in your architect designed home enjoy the best New England offers: acres of nature that would captivate Thoreau himself and the Atlantic Ocean. Every one will love the large, in-ground pool. The water pump works 24/7 to help maintain cleanliness. Lounge outdoors on three decks: one screened in, one on the East and one on the West. One is always perfect.
Outdoor activities abound: walk alone or with your dog on the beach or on the many trails; bird-watch; take nature photographs; kayak from nearby tidal dock on the Mousam River or from the ocean; fish for stripped bass at three locations; cycle private roads or star gaze into dark skies. From the decks you'll see a fantastic view of some ocean, plenty of tidal marsh, an apple orchard, fields and beautiful tree-scapes. Ideal place to bring the family together for a special occasion.

I grew up in Connecticut and Prince Edward Island and attended university in Fredericton, New Brunswick. I also lived in Calgary for six years where my second son was born and where I taught elementary school. After living abroad a few years, I moved to this family home in 1978 and have been enjoying it ever since.
Helen purchased this house in 1890
Why Helen chose Kennebunk Beach
Many of the people living here inherited their property from our great-grandfather. Everyone cherishes this land and its natural beauty. It is said these two beaches comprise the longest stretch of 'undeveloped' shoreline on the East Coast. It is so isolated the U.S. Military stationed troops here during W.W.II., and they scared my mother once when she came out of the water.
I moved here in 1978 with my two boys after I inherited the Farm with its twenty acres from my mother, Helen Parsons. I wanted my children to enjoy the wonders of the country and the ocean and attend the excellent schools in Kennebunk. The whole area, Kennebunk, Lower Village and Kennebunkport are wonderful places to visit and have excellent activities for children, including the K.B.I.A. at Kennebunk Beach.
What makes this house unique
You can know you frequented the same beach as George W.H.Bush and Cole Porter. George during the last few years and Cole before W.W.I while he and my cousin were roommates at university.
We have a small soccer/baseball field! Bring equipment!
