Beyond the resident cat, we offer our housekeeping staff of two, one of whom is an excellent cook, and a gardener who tends to the grounds twice per week.

Your rental also includes WiFi, Cable TV, USA Vonage Phone, and a local phone. Wide selection of DVD films.

Surround MUSIC Sound with 99 CD collection

Distinguished home designed by the famous Architect Alan Wilkenson, featured internationally in architectural magazines. The Kitchen, Living Room and Master Bedroom are on one floor. There are ample spaces for either indoor or outdoor dining. Rooftop Terrace with gas grill. Outstanding lighting throughout all four levels of the home. The house is designed around an historic tree, 'El Arbol', that grows up through the center of the house- an architectural wonder in itself. All of the interior floors are polished Cantera, while the outside floors are created from rustic, hand-carved Cantera. The owners' art collection compliments the subtle elegance of the home.

CASA ARBOL, a short walk from San Miguel's gorgeous Parroquia Cathedral and its bustling central Jardin, is one of a kind. Built only 6 years ago, it has the flavor and feel of a centuries-old home.

Three master bedroom suites in total with two on the Jacuzzi level along with the Media- Library Room .

Villa's History: CASA Arbol was designed and built six years ago by a noted SMA architect. He designed a four-level stone house on the side of a hill that leads down to the arroyo and the orchid garden. The stairs are few and have the perfect pitch. A fine home, indeed, he did build. With the home being located 'just so' on the property, the views across the arroyo and through the gardens and out to the mountains beyond are so very wonderful All along the street side is a tall stone wall that ensures both privacy and security. The home is safe and in a very nice neighborhood just four blocks from the Jardin and the heart of old San Miguel. It's a lovely walk both to and from the Jardin, or if you prefer, taxis 30 pesos [ $2.30 USD] are always available.

With all of the art, the concerts, the mariachi bands, the pageants seemingly every weekend, San Miguel is a fascinating place to spend some time. The history is rich, the people are warm and helpful, and the restaurants are good and many. Parks, museums, botanical gardens...all are here.

CASA Arbol Review, Judy Butcher, May, 2014

This elegant and safe home in the UNESCO World Heritage town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico is within walking distance of the main plaza in the center of town. For those times walking is inconvenient reasonably priced taxis are available.

From the street you enter the house through a gracious courtyard having a waterfall, gardens and covered sitting area, which is perfect for drinks and conversation. The spacious eat-in kitchen is off of the courtyard and has views into the green vegetation of the canyon below.

Along a stone walkway leading from the courtyard, around the tree for which the house is named, you find the glass walled living /dinning room with a gas and stone fire pit used to take the chill out of cool evenings. The comfortable and elegant furnishings make entertaining and relaxing a very pleasant experience.

Further along the walkway you enter the spacious master bedroom with sitting area and wall of windows looking out into the canyon. A closet lined hallway takes you the private bathroom with huge shower that always has plenty of hot water and pressure. The extensive water filtration system in the house means that you can drink the water from the tap.

On a lower level accessed by a wide staircase there is another sitting area and two more bedrooms with private bathrooms. Both have windows or French doors and balcony overlooking the canyon and lower garden. There is also a very comfortable media room with DVDs, CDs and cable TV with English and Spanish language channels.

The hot tub/plunge pool has room for all of the houseguests and is a treat after a day of sightseeing. On another level below, there is a small garden that provides a cool space to sit and read during hot days.

The upper level of the four levels has a terrace with grill, table and chairs for dining or relaxing and is surrounded by lush plantings and views over part of the town, the orchid garden next door and creek below.

One of the most enjoyable treats when I stay at CASA Arbol is the efficient and cheerful staff that in addition to keeping the property in excellent condition will shop and provide meals with proper notice and financial contribution. Their desire to make guests comfortable is palpable. Since the staff speaks Spanish exclusively I have improved my Spanish through the use of Google translate.

Dealing with the owners of CASA Arbol is easy. They are responsive and clear in their communications

Our villa, Casa Arbol in San Miguel, is our primary residence. Because we travel a great deal, we offer our property to select individuals for rent while we are on the road. We are retired entrepreneurs both of whom were in the travel business. Nanci hails from Michigan with a long layover in Florida. Sheila spent her younger years in Morocco, Baltimore, and Jacksonville, FL. San Miguel has been home since 2006.

Sheila Sheehan purchased this villa in 2006

Casa Arbol exudes the flavor of a historic stone house, but it has all of the amenities of a new house. Totally constructed out of native Mexican stone, its rooms are all connected with hand-carved cantera walkways. A roof top terrace offers a view over the valley and distant mountains. Nearer are the ruins of an old tannery that is now an orchid garden. In short, it is paradise...very comfortable and comfortably private.

We rented this house in 2006 for two weeks; within 8 months we owned it and became San Miguel residents.

Security and privacy and the best staff in all of Central Mexico.

AMAZING VILLA WITH AMAZING AMBIANCE!

  • 5 of 5
The trip was easy, the town was fabulous, and the villa was amazing. A totally wonderful experience. Bring flat shoes, make sure you walk down to the town square at night to hear the bands playing, and get to the park on Wed and Fri mornings for the Tai Chi gatherings. Great shopping everywhere, friendly people, I felt very safe. The house is magical, filled with great art and ambiance! Can't wait to go again.

Hot springs dot the countryside surrounding San Miguel. Not far are the ruins of pyramids. Guanajuato, an hour away, is a wonderful day trip. Pozos, a quintessential Mexico village, is worth a visit if you want to get a feel of Old Mexico.

Notes:
The jacuzzi has a heater that you may elect to use. There is a $250 fee per week to keep the jacuzzi heated. It is very important to note that we have lowered our weekly rental rate because our beloved cat has to be a part of the rental agreement. Although our cat is cared for by our staff, renters of our home would have to be cat fans. Our home is not particularly suited to children, unless they are 13 or older.
