OUR CAT, BEBE, STAYS WITH THE HOUSE AND MUST BE LOVED. ALSO, ANY INQUIRIES FOR LESS THAN TWO WEEKS WILL NOT BE ANSWERED. STRICT 2-WEEK MINIMUM. Having said that, our home is considered one of the finer properties in San Miguel. It has been featured in a Mexican architectural magazine . The Kitchen, Living Room and Main Suite are all on one floor. There is Indoor and Outdoor dining. and a Rooftop Terrace w/ grill. Outstanding lighting throughout the home. A huge tree, 'El Arbol', grows up through the center of the house- an architectural wonder in itself. All of the interior floors are polished cantera, while the outside floors are created from rustic, hand-carved cantera. The owners' art collection compliments the subtle elegance of the home.
Casa Arbol, a short walk from SMA's gorgeous Parroquia Cathedral and its bustling Jardin, is one of a kind. Built only 6 years ago, it has the flavor and feel of a centuries-old home. Two more Master Suites are one level down, along with the Jacuzzi and the Family Room which houses the only television in the house.
Villa's History: Casa Arbol was designed and built six years ago by a noted SMA architect who was challenged by designing a four-level stone house on the side of a hill that leads down to the arroyo and the orchid garden. A fine home, indeed, he did build. With the home being located 'just so' on the property, the views across the arroyo and through the gardens and out to the mountains beyond are so very wonderful All along the streetside is a tall stone wall that ensures both privacy and security. The home is safe and in a very nice neighborhood just four blocks from the Jardin and the heart of old San Miguel. It's a lovely walk both to and from the Jardin, or if you prefer, taxis are always available. With all of the art, the concerts, the mariachi bands, the pageants seemingly every weekend, San Miguel is a fascinating place to spend some time. The history is rich, the people are warm and helpful, and the restaurants are good and many. Parks, museums, botanical gardens...all are here.
Our villa, Casa Arbol, in San Miguel is our primary residence. Because we travel a great deal, we offer our property to select individuals for rent while we are on the road. We are retired entrepreneurs both of whom were in the travel business. Nanci hails from Michigan with a long layover in Florida. Sheila spent her younger years in Morocco, Baltimore, and Jacksonville, FL. San Miguel has been home since 2006.
Casa Arbol exudes the flavor of a historic stone house, but it has all of the amenities of a new house. Totally constructed with stone, its rooms are strung together with hand-carved cantera walkways that connect each room to another. A roof top terrace offers a view over the valley and distant mountains. Nearer are the ruins of an old tannery that is now an orchid garden. In short, it is paradise...very comfortable and comfortably private.
We rented this house in 2006 for two weeks; within 8 months we owned it and became San Miguel residents.
Security and privacy and the best staff in all of Central Mexico.
Hot springs dot the countryside surrounding San Miguel. Not far are the ruins of pyramids. Guanajuato, an hour away, is a wonderful day trip. Pozos, a quintessential Mexico village, is worth a visit if you want to get a feel of Old Mexico.
