Beautiful Place to Stay--Great Location

This was a wonderful place to stay for our trip to Asheville. We love Craftsman architecture, and were delighted at the great attention to craftsman detail and design. Really nice.

The location was perfect too. Kenilworth is a beautiful, quiet neighborhood full of gorgeous old craftsman homes/mansions, but it is just down the hill to the Biltmore Estate and downtown Asheville, where most of our weekend was spent.

The owners, who live next door, are fun people with great ideas for restaurants and things to do. Tupelo Honey is a great place to eat that they told us about. They had a complimentary bottle of wine waiting on us when we arrived, which we enjoyed on the deck of the cottage, which is particularly lovely. It has vines with blooming roses growing along the rail of the deck with little lights interspersed, which makes it look and smell wonderful at night. This was a great place to stay, and we can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful Cottage, Great Stay!

My husband and I stayed at the Cottage for two nights on our trip home from Hilton Head to Kansas City. We stopped primarily to visit the Biltmore Estate, and that's how to spent most of our one full day there. The Cottage is very close to the Biltmore entrance, which was great, and its literally within walking distance of Biltmore Village. However, keep in mind that the walk is all downhill, pretty steeply downhill, and then you would have to walk back uphill to return, so driving down is probably advisable unless you are exceptionally fit or energetic.

The cottage is just beautiful, very Craftsman in design and furnishing, and has everything you could think of. Although we didn't cook at all, it looked like there was everything you would need if you were there for more than just a few days. The deck is wonderful, and I can only imagine what the lawn and garden would have looked like just a few weeks later in the year. It was quite warm when we were there, and being able to sleep with the windows open was a real treat. The king bed is very comfortable. There's even a small office set up in the bedroom, with stapler, paper, clips, etc., plus a small desk for your laptop, also convenient to an elec outlet. In our VRBO stays, we often find that an available outlet for charging all of our devices is the hardest thing to come by, and they were plentiful and handy at the cottage.

We took the recommendation from their book of restaurants and attractions and ate at the Corner Kitchen in Biltmore Village one night, and would recommend it. Although we were surprised that the on-line menu we'd seen was not available; at night, they don't have sandwiches, but there were plenty of other entrees and a nice selection of wines.

We would definitely return to the Cottage if we're in Asheville again. Thanks Beth, Steve, and family for a friendly and beautiful stay.

Perfect! Definitely Stay Here.

From the moment we walked in, my husband and I wished we lived here. We drove 10 hours, through rain and snow from Baltimore, MD to Asheville, NC, and walking through the Craftman's Cottage's doors was an instant relief. The complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us on the counter was very much appreciated! It was the perfect size for us (2 adults and 2 dogs), and we enjoyed all the amenities. The backyard and deck are great! The owners were very responsive, and took great care of everything. For example, it snowed overnight our first night there, and someone already put salt down on the front step by the time I went to walk our dogs at 7:30 a.m. The kitchen was fully stocked, which was great for my husband and me since we like to make our breakfast where ever we stay. The dining table was different from the one pictured, but I really liked the one we had, and it was nice being able to enjoy meals with my husband there. The cottage was clean, and we never had to ask or look far for anything. One of the main reasons I wanted to stay here was the fireplace, and I was ecstatic to be able to fall asleep in front of the fire on my somewhat-cold 30th birthday (13 March 2014). It was also great having a dishwasher (something we don't have at home) and a W/D in the unit. There is also a great DVD collection in the cottage, and I really liked watching "Being There" after visiting the Biltmore Estate. I found the shower to be a bit small and awkward, but it didn't bother my husband one bit. Of course, he doesn't shave his legs though! In any event, it did the job, and obviously did not affect the overall rating. The owner's binder was helpful, as was the guest book in the bedroom. My husband and I are avid recyclers, and it was great to see that the owners not only followed Asheville's mandatory recycling program, but also that they explained it in their binder, and made it easy for renters to follow, too. The neighborhood was great, and everyone was super friendly. I wish there were more sidewalks, but the area was really dog-friendly, so I was comfortable walking my dog on the street where necessary because it looked like the drivers in the area were used to seeing dogwalkers on the street. I highly recommend this cottage for a couple who wants to get away, yet wants to be near the action (~1 mile away). If you have an elderly dog like us, you may want to bring a baby gate for the top of the steps, though.

Cozy apartment in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of privacy...and perfect size for my wife and me. It was very convenient to our activities which took us to all corners of the Asheville area. It was clean, well maintained, and the heating system worked extremely well (despite unusually cold weather during our stay). The owners were friendly and helpful in our effort to get to know this part of North Carolina. Bedding was very comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. We plan to stay there on our next visit!
