This is my home and I rent it out while I am working overseas or interstate.

It is a beautiful house to stay in because of the unique light and the quality of peace created by the Chinese Tree of Heaven. A true oasis.

Around the corner is the dynamic and hip Crown Street filled with life, people and great shopping. You are only five minutes from the city and fifteen minutes away from access to all the main holiday attractions and yet it feels as though you are in the country.

Great location in Surry Hills. This unique and relaxed house had everything that we needed and more. We thought it was even better than the photos. We have rented lots of places and this one was the best with a friendly, responsive and flexible owner.

We spent a very enjoyable week in this lovely and interesting house with three of our adult children in January. Another of our children lives in Crown Street so this was a perfect choice to be near her and enjoy the wonderful restaurants bars and pubs in the immediate vicinity. We found the house to be very well equipped with everything one would need for a long or short stay. The beds were comfortable, the shower had great water pressure and temperature, the lounge had seating for all of us and the kitchen had every appliance one could wish for. A nice big fridge kept our food and drinks perfectly chilled and the washer and dryer served our needs well. We loved the leafy courtyard and the upper deck area was a cool and airy place to enjoy afternoon drinks and nibblies!! We all appreciated the good quality white linen, duvets and large white fluffy bath towels. All in all, our week long stay was very enjoyable and we would definitely recommend this lovely holiday property. Lindy, the charming owner was there to meet us on our arrival and explained all the workings of the house and refunded our security deposit promptly! No complaints at all!!

GIRLS WEEK IN SYDNEY

We had planned a girls get-a-way week in Sydney. One lady in our party had a friend that lives in Sydney was turning 90 years young, and we were there to celebrate her birthday. We couldn't have chosen a better place. The location was perfect since we didn't rent a car. We (the four ladies) were able to walk everywhere. The grocery store was right around the corner, the restaurants were everywhere. The train station was walking distance, and the buses were down the street. The house was very comfortable it suited our purpose and was a better option than staying at a hotel. We were able to cook breakfast every morning before hitting the streets. One night we even cooked dinner and we had all we needed to make the meal. The one bathroom for four ladies was a challenge however we worked well with each other. Lindy(the owner) was so very helpful with our planning, we only had a 3week window to plan due to our work schedule . Her patience with the four of us sending in the deposit (in US dollars ,then converting it to AU dollars) was wonderful. We so loved working with her. I would stay there again and again.

Disappointing Experience

This looked ideal for a family visiting for 8 days to celebrate a wedding! However we arrived to a quality far below the standard offered. A broken pipe had resulted in water oozing up through the floorboards in the kitchen and dining room and a terrible smell. Extensive renovations next door meant the light through the walkway was completed blocked and made the area gloomy. We were told a plumber would be there the next day at 7.30 am with a jack hammer to investigate the problem. The only place to wash after using the toilet downstairs was the kitchen sink. We had booked for 5 adults but the 3rd bed was not made up and the manager told us we would find linen in the office. That linen was not clean so we used other linen, even though it was stained and carrying the lipstick of previous guests. The roses left for us were brown with drooping heads. A plumber returned and connected hot water to the kitchen and made provision for waste water from the washing machine. We were unable to secure 3 external doors that evening including one that had no latching system at all. We informed the manager that we could not take liability for security, and she insisted that it could be made secure and hung up. We managed to secure one end of the apartment. We contacted the owner to explain our inconveniences. She replied to say sorry the pipe was broken and that her manager said all the beds were ready. 2 visits from a locksmith and 48 hours after our arrival the house was secured. We found a tarpaulin and laid it over the still oozing floor. On the third day a second plumber advised us that the pipe had been broken for a minimum of 3 weeks and the water bill would be high. We began to turn off the water when we were not using it to help the owner. We advised the owner of this on the fourth day of our stay and requested compensation. She replied that everything in Sydney was booked, she was unable to re accommodate us and apologised for the discomfort. Our request was not acknowledged. On day 6 of our stay a neighbour arrived to say he had 3 inches of water in his courtyard coming from the property and guests coming for lunch. We passed on the contact details we had.
Coming from the hospitality and accommodation industries we were shocked how inadequately this unfortunate situation was dealt with and hope quality has been restored to this property. One week after our return the balance of the bond was returned plus some compensation but no communication for 10 days.

Owner's Response: I find this review disturbing for a number of reasons
Firstly the property was not booked through this site and therefore a review purporting to belong to this site is problematic
Secondly it is factually incorrect the guests arrived at 4pm at the moment when the plumber had just begun work trying to locate the leaking pipe ( despite being advised that they may not check in before checkin time of 5pm as there was a tight turn around) I was actually on the phone from New York talking with my manager when they rang the doorbell and barged in. The cleaner was working hard to meet her deadline as the manager received complaints from them about the house not being clean. At that time as our phone call was being interrupted and I still did not know the extent of the damage I asked the cleaner to tell them to come back at the appropriate check in time and leave the staff to do their jobs. I spoke to the plumber and he had removed the laundry trough but had not located the source of the leak. The only sign of a leaking pipe was a huge water bill and there was no physical evidence of the actual location of the leak we knew it had to be located electronically. I was concerned that the tenants were going to be checking in with a gaping hole in the floor of the laundry because as it was now past 4.30 there were no places where the plumber could purchase a new trough. He assured me it would be rectified in the morning. I immediately tried to locate alternative accommodation for the tenants but as it was now 5pm and a busy conference week in Sydney all the hotels were full. I was aware that it would be unpleasant to have the hole in the laundry the tenants were told that they of course would not be paying for that night's accommodation and would have all their extras covered. Next morning the trough was repaired and the locksmith came and adjusted the snibs on two internal doors At no time was there a security risk. I explained to the clients that we never make up the sofa bed (3rd bed). Clean pressed 1000 count sheets in plastic covers are in the wardrobe and there are clear instructions in the welcome book as to where they are located. Thirdly they state that their request for compensation was not acknowledged this is not true.
Fourthly I arrived back from NY the day they left and found no evidence of water seeping through the floor A new plumber came later that day and located and mended the pipe within 15 minutes.
A mischievous and misleading review!!!!
