House, 2 Bedrooms + Office, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Surry Hills is the most vibrant and exciting place in which, to live. It is the home of artists and creative people and is replete with restaurants, theatres and galleries.

There are numerous original clothing shops and interesting gift shops. The house is within walking distance of the city and is an exceptional location for those interested in unique cuisine.

This unusual and exotic two storey house is situated opposite a park and comprises of two pavilions facing each other across an internal courtyard.

The courtyard has a barbecue and is canopied by a fifteen metre Chinese Tree of Heaven.

The upstairs deck is perfect for sunset drinks and breakfast with the birds, you don't feel like you are in the middle of the city but rather in your own little corner of paradise.

There are two bedrooms with queen size beds & a study with a double sofa-bed. The bedlinen is 1000 thread count cotton soft, soft, soft.

This remarkable house has a fully appointed kitchen/laundry complete with Bosch, Smeg and Miele appliances. The diningroom and living area house an LCD television, Wifi, Cable, dvd player, vcr, ipod dock and Sony sound system, Wireless Broadband internet.

The house is peaceful and filled with sunlight.

Situated round the corner from Crown Street and Oxford Street you have easy access to Sydney's best restaurants, galleries and fashion boutiques.

You are within walking distance of the City and Central Station and have excellent public transport outside the front door.

Ten minutes to Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Twenty minutes to Bondi, Bronte and Clovelly beaches.

In the centre of it all but so secluded!!

Specific Description

The front pavilion is a three-story, glass tower with a spiral staircase. The top floor contains a bedroom with a queen-size bed (1000 TC sheets) and television. The second level houses a bathroom and second bedroom with queen-size bed(1000 TC sheets) . The ground level of the front pavilion comprises a study containing sofa bed, telephone/fax and wireless broadband.

There is a walkway crossing above the courtyard from the second level leading to a sundeck and the second pavilion. Stairs lead down into an open, living room and dining area with polished, timber floors. This area can be heated by the open gas fireplace. The fully-appointed kitchen (Bosch dishwasher, Smeg Stove and Panasonic microwave) and laundry (Miele washing machine and Fisher Paykel dryer) are adjacent to this space. There is a toilet off the laundry. The living area looks into the internal courtyard.

The property is peaceful and filled with sunlight.

It is a beautiful house to stay in because of the unique light and the quality of peace created by the Chinese Tree of Heaven. A true oasis.

Around the corner is the dynamic and hip Crown Street filled with life, people and great shopping. You are only five minutes from the city and fifteen minutes away from access to all the main holiday attractions and yet it feels as though you are in the country.

Truly Great Experience

My husband and I recently stayed here and enjoyed every minute of our week in this charming house. The location could not have been more perfect - near everything in Surrey Hills and just steps away from Crown Street where you can catch a cab to anywhere else in Sydney you might want to go. Central Train station was a 10 minute easy walk although we never walked back from the station as there is a fairly steep uphill on the return. The house looks just the way it does in the photos to include the fresh floral arrangements in several rooms which we found to be a lovely touch and the mattresses and bed linens were top notch. The owner Lindy was always easy to reach via email before our trip when we had questions and she rang the house while we were there to make sure everything was ok. There are a couple of good groceries nearby if you plan to use the kitchen and loads of great restaurants abound if you don't. We would definitely recommend this to others but perhaps not to those people who like everything shiny and new. This is an older home and is therefore full of character which we love but some people certainly do not. We would absolutely stay here again without question!

Great Home and Location

Three of us stayed at Lindy's house during the first week in July. The weather was a bit of a challenge for us (we are from Guam and Hawaii) being the middle of the winter, but the house was warm and cozy despite the chilly weather. Everything is as Lindy describes and pictures on the VRBO site. The location is great, not down by the biggest hotels at the harbour, but so close using the train from the main station or a bus. The neighborhood is upbeat and provides many excellent restaurants and shops, and there is a grocery store around the corner. Having a washer and dryer as well as the ability to cook was a real plus. Walking to Oxford Street or the station is easy, although there is a bit of a climb on the way back from the station. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely like to come back again to stay at Lindy’s house, perhaps during the Australian summer! One tip: before going out to by your groceries, check the pantry and freezer to see what others may have left. We did not and bought things we needn’t have purchased. Then leave your nonperishables for the next tenants!

we had a wonderfull stay at a truly unique home.
Lindy was very helpful and pleasant to deal with.
location was fabulous,neighborhood was fun with lots of varied spots to dine all within a short walk,excellent food stores to shop at also in the immediate neighborhood.
downtown area was easily accessable by walking or bus if so inclined.We would highly reccommmend this property to anyone to use as a base to visit Sydney and its attractions. Sydey has some of the nicest people we have met in all of our travels

The location was perfect for a week's stay in Central Sydney, with shops, bars, restaurants and all the major attractions within walking distance.

The house itself was great - loved the quirky layout and it worked for us as there were no children staying.

The only downside was that the BBQ wasn't working and we had to make last minute alternative plans for dinner guests one evening.

All in all, I would stay there again and would recommend to friends planning a trip to Sydney.

We had a great stay in Surry Hills. We loved the fresh fruit, fresh flowers and clean house. So close to the quaint and nice Surry Hills. Also close to the buses and trains that take you to wherever you need to be. Lindy was great to work with! We would highly recommend this place.
