This Modernist/Tuscan-styled getaway is located in a treed enclave minutes from the ocean and Thetis Lake and 10-15 minutes from downtown Victoria. The home is set on two lots with native Garry Oak and Arbutus stands.
Relax and enjoy the tranquility of this very private setting. The field stone entrance way invites you to stop and marvel at the fountain or sit and enjoy a cocktail on the 1000 sq. ft deck which fronts the home.
The main living room boasts 25-foot open-beamed ceilings, free-standing fireplace and an open design with two oversize wood and glass doors opening to the massive deck. The adjacent dining room area is slightly raised and overlooks the fountain. There are three tastefully decorated bedrooms situated throughout the house with 300 thread count linens. The master bedroom is tucked away at the back of the home with its own completely private deck beside the stream and small pond. The large bedroom windows overlook a serene stand of Garry oak trees and native plants. Perfect for a night of romance or maybe a relaxing candlelight bath in the over sized claw foot tub steps from the thermo fit bed.
The modern kitchen area overlooks the stream and pond and offers a functional balance of beauty and convenience with concrete counters and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen is open and almost entirely comprised of windows. There is also a sliding glass door to the rear deck. The stream and pond attract a great deal of bird life - from hummingbirds to eagles.
The location of this wondrous home is perfect – just minutes from many of Victoria’s famed sites, attractions, restaurants and night life, yet far enough away from the action to enjoy a restful getaway in your home away from home.

There are also miles of trails for walking, hiking, and picnicking. The home is also five minutes from the Galloping Goose Trail which runs from downtown Victoria to Sooke and is ideal for biking and in-line skating. Loved the stay wonderful house, everything was top notch (great art!!)...so private. Sauna in the morning and hot tub at night..what a way to relax. Enjoyed a gin a tonic in the evening on your wonderful deck watching the humming birds drink from the fountain.
Kids (and Bernie our dog )loved Thetis Lake. We'll definitly tell all our friends and will be back next year...hopefully for two weeks. Thanks again Terri
My friend Kay stayed at this incredible house on my recommendation this summer. She had asked me if I could
write her review for her as her english is not the best. But her comments were so incredibly good that I wanted to pass them on before the year was over. The fountain at the front, the immense and private deck, the hot tub, the
little waterfall in the lovely backyard were only part of their joy. The inside of the place just blew them away. It's ecclectic interior is one of a kind and they loved every detail of it. The bus conveniently runs close by and allowed them trips into town and sightseeing.
Kay and her friend would like to tell everyone that this is a fabulous, one of a kind place you don't want to miss.
My wife has booked this house for us twice . We love it. It is eclectic with a great collection of art and nick nacks. The house is completely secluded ringed by trees with a beautiful Gary oak reserve in the back area. The front deck is huge . Over looking a rustic court yard with a huge fountain. I liked the hot tub(privacy and star gazing) - my wife favoured the sauna(cures all ills). The place is a bit like an artist getaway - but close to town. We enjoyed the brew pub down the way and walked there on occasion. There was also a great lake with hiking trails . Cool place
My family of 6 adults spent a wonderful week at this beautiful property. We were enchanted with all the house has to offer from decor to amenities. The hot tub and dry sauna were appreciated. Location was very central for our needs as we were attending a wedding in the area, but also close to many of the tourist highlights of Victoria.
We will certainly consider this property in the future as well as recommend it to others.
This was a lovely home and we all were very comfortable, beautiful location. One morning while we were sitting at the breakfast table a deer came thru the back garden and just stood watching us for a good 10 minutes before moving on.
We were excited to stay at this home in August based on the beautiful photos provided, the large size, as well as the previous excellent reviews. However, we were disappointed with the home for the following reasons. We were unable to use the hot tub or BBQ because they were very dirty. The windows had no screens and there was mouse or bat feces on one of the window ledges, making us uncomfortable opening windows and allowing fresh air to come in. Neither of the bathrooms are private (both have large window-like openings that cannot be closed off from the adjoining room or hallway) which was awkward for our family with three teenagers. There is a life sized female nude form in the living room which was uncomfortable for our family, and we found some of the artwork to be dark and creepy. The deck and surrounding landscape of the house are beautiful, as other guests have indicated, and the house is very large and unique (it appears to have been a tiny older home that has been added onto several times with many levels and stairs.) We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Victoria, sight-seeing in the absolutely gorgeous city and surrounding area as well as visiting with friends, but unfortunately, we wouldn't return to or recommend this vacation rental.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay. Our son stayed over one night. Plenty of room and ideal for 2-4 able bodied people. One reason I chose this property was because it was advertised as wheelchair accessible. Although theoretically you could get a wheelchair in there with great difficulty it would be quite challenging for a wheelchair bound person to navigate into and out of the house over the sometimes narrow, always uneven cobblestone pathway and up and over the deck stairs to the door. Inside of the house there is at least one step off and sometimes multiple stairs to pass from one room to another making wheelchair access difficult if not impossible. There would be no bathing or showering for the person in a wheelchair . Sleeping 8 would also be a challenge because the bathrooms, especially the bathroom on the entrance level is vented by a window sized opening facing the hallway between 2 bedrooms precluding complete privacy. Fortunately the crowd of 6-8 that I had initially planned for did not materialize, especially my mother who is in a wheelchair. The house is cozy, we'll appointed and handy to places of interest. I feel it would be Comfortable only for 2-4. Practically speaking NOT wheelchair accessible.
