CRYSTAL COAST LOG CABIN RETREAT

Morehead City Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

Gorgeous waterfront log cabin in the Crystal Coast. A relaxing get-away within 25 minutes of ocean front activities. Perfect for couples, families, fishermen, and anyone who wants to relax and enjoy life and beauty that surrounds. It's tucked between the Croatan National Forest and the Newport River Bay.

Unique to this property are the rustic log cabin walls, hardwood floors, a wood burning fireplace and comfortable chairs for an ideal retreat. Find open common areas, large kitchen, and large waterfront deck. Views of sunrise, shrimp boats, and crab point across the bay are admired from big picture windows and the deck. A platform tree house is built in a large oak tree next to the deck.

The 150 foot private pier is for fishing, shrimping, crabbing, kayaking, or watching egrets, crabs, and other native North Carolina wildlife along the protected coastline.

First Floor: Main level of the cabin. Large water-facing picture windows in open living area and kitchen/ dining areas. Magnificent view of the water. Also on this level are the kitchen and dining areas, lower level bathroom, and master bedroom.

Second Floor: The second floor has two bedrooms, a large bathroom, and open social area. The upper level balcony in front of the bedrooms also has a waterfront view. The upstairs social area and bedrooms overlook the lower level living area.

Note for boaters: At the pier, there is no ladder into the water, and the water depth at low tide at the end of the pier is only inches of water. During low tide, the pier may not be accessible by water for motorized boats, and may be grounded if docked. The entire river basin is two to six feet deep, and best suited to kayaks/canoes or smaller low drafting boats.

Owners Scott Wyckoff and Natasha Wyckoff are continuing the dream of their mother to create a beautiful peaceful retreat for all to enjoy.

The cabin is on the waterfront, tucked in the Croatan National Forest near Mill Creek.

Natasha Wyckoff purchased this cabin in 2002

Our mother chose this area for the waterfront, open land, and privacy. She and others spent 4 years building this cabin. Susan labored over cleaning up the land, rebuilding the pier after a previous hurricane, selecting and cutting cedar wood to create the cedar closets in the bedrooms, and finding the perfect hardwood flooring to further beautify her cabin.

Customer Fishing Trip

This trip was booked to take customers on a fishing trip in Morehead City and there were 12 of us in total and I couldn't have picked a better place to stay, there was plenty of room for everyone, and such a peaceful place to stay. It has a great back porch and back lawn that leads to a dock right out to the water that you can fish off of. We cooked out on the grill for everyone and everyone said how great this cabin was and how much better it was for a group of people so you can enjoy every ones company. As it turned out the fishing trip we booked was canceled due to rough seas and everyone still had a great time just relaxing at the cabin, It was a 20 minute drive into Atlantic or Morehead City. Can't say enough about this place and commits from everybody were if we come back they want to stay at the cabin.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin -- we had a nice family weekend and were able to do fun stuff in Morehead City, Beaufort, and Newport. We took a ferry to Shackleford Island and saw the horses, checked out Atlantic Beach, and ate great food. We even caught a little crab out front of the house. I would recommend this for a quiet getaway, the house is gorgeous.

Loved our stay on the Mill Creek!

Many thanks to Natasha and Scott - and neighbor Debbie - for such a fantastic experience. We only stayed a couple of nights, but it was a perfect retreat for 5 friends to get together - plenty of space and all the necessities for group cooking. We were in town for the Gloucester Mardi Gras and found the location to be convenient to neighboring towns...all just a 15 minute scenic drive. The front porch looks onto the water and was a lovely and relaxed place to chat and catch up. Quiet as can be! Wish we had more time there. We all vow to come back sometime!

Johnson Thanksgiving 2013

Our family stayed at Crystal Coast Cabin over Thanksgiving 2013. We had so much fun! There is a lot to do in the area but we just enjoyed the homey atmosphere at the cabin playing games, reading and just relaxing. The caretakers, Ray and Debbie were just awesome! What great "neighbors"! They gave great instruction on harvesting oysters right off the dock and they were the best we've ever eaten! The sunrises over the water were breathtaking and we had a great photo session in the tree house! This was the first time we've done a "rent by owner" stay and it couldn't have been more perfect. I asked my family if they would like to do the same thing again and they said, "Only if we can come back to this cabin!" So, I'm sure you'll be hearing from us again. :)

Natasha and Scott, I'm sorry your mother didn't get to enjoy the cabin longer but I know she would be so proud of her family for carrying on her desire to share it with others. Thank you!

Baseball Vacation

My family was in the area for a baseball tournament and needed a place to stay. This cabin was the most relaxing, peaceful get away! It was better than advertised, even down to post-it notes in the cabinets for us to help our selves to any canned food left! Very clean and well stocked with all the necessary essentials. I only wish I would have discovered the hammock under the bed sooner! We enjoyed the views, sitting on the dock, and sitting on the porch. The kids even learned how to play croquet and had a blast exploring the treehouse and fishing off the dock! Thanks so much for sharing such a wonderful cabin!

Owner's Response: Amy, glad you had a good time at the cabin! Sorry you didn't find the hammock early, but good you found the croquet set. It's a great croquet yard. Thank you for the nice comments, and we look forward to having you back next time you are in the neighborhood.
