Perfect location: Crescent Beach in Owls Head. Perfect setting: 25 feet from the sand and crashing surf. Perfect view: watch the sun rise and set, in virtually every room, over the islands in Penobscot Bay. Perfect house: open concept, sun washed, breezy and pristine. The Due East Beach House is, quite simply, Maine. Located in one of the best and most sought-after seaside villages in Midcoast Maine, this house is a true beach get-away. In Maine, the front of the house is the side facing the water — and this house is all windows on the front, facing the open ocean and the unspoiled crescent-shaped beach.Three stories high, the Due East Beach House is an open-concept house with a light and airy feeling, enhanced with seaside colors and natural wood. The house was completely renovated in 2008. The main floor houses the kitchen, living room, dining area, reading nook and a half bath.
The kitchen offers all the comforts and conveniences of home with new appliances (gas oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator). Granite countertops bring the rocky beach inside. The kitchen is fully-equipped with all you need for anything from a lobster bake to a picnic. The dining area is a perfect place to eat as well as gather; the large dining room table seats 8 easily. This is also a great place to put together a puzzle or play a game. (We stocked the house with lots of them!)The living room has a large and extremely comfortable sectional couch and a custom-built entertainment center with a flat-screen television. This is a good place to relax and visit; the house also offers cable television and WiFi Internet connection.Tucked away in an alcove, find the reading nook with the world's most comfortable chair and ottoman. This is the place to nap, read a book or use the telescope to look at sailboats in the distance or birds diving for fish on the water.
The backdrop to all
The backdrop to all these areas is Mussel Ridge Channel and the glistening Maine waters. The front porch is a perfect place to sit and watch the tide come in and out; all day long the sun moves across the front of the house — this is the place to be. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and a full bathroom. The master bedroom has a king pillow-top bed and absolutely breathtaking views of the open ocean from every window. Like the first floor, the entire front wall of the master bedroom is a window — there are room darkening shades for those who don't like to wake up with the sun every day. The third bedroom has a queen bed and unobstructed views of the beach and the water. The second bedroom has a set of bunk beds and a twin bed. Each bedroom is outfitted with comfortable bedding and great reading lights. The ground floor houses the beach room, the laundry room, a half bath and a den, which can also double as a bedroom. The house has three flat-screen televisions.
