As good as home

As others have written, the apartment was spotless, fully appointed with full-size kitchen appliances, larger than expected, broadband internet worked fine, plenty of extra linens, lovely outside sitting area with a breezeway so it was comfortable sitting outside even when the temperature was a bit warm.
Only issues were a finicky bathroom light, and we did need air conditioning one evening, but the window units were not installed yet. But, opening some windows and using the fan that we found worked out fine. Adrienne & Dan could not have been more accommodating and I also do not hesitate to recommend the property...and would not hesitate to rent it again.
Bus stop from the Staten Is Ferry is directly across the street and bus stop to the ferry is one block away. The bus ride to or from the ferry was less than 15 minutes and was more convenient than parking at the ferry lot. The NYC metropass, by the way, is good for both the buses and the subway in the city, and the buses on Staten Island...$29 for 7 days unlimited fares.
The neighborhood was quiet and we had no problem finding a parking space, practically in front of the apartment, each time we drove somewhere and then returned. Our alternatives, on short notice, were in Queens, Brooklyn or E. Harlem, but we would have have much more of a hassle, what with alternative side of the street parking rules, etc. Staten Island had no such problems. A couple of meals were Bar-B-Q's in the back yard, and we found great meats &produce at Western Beef, 2 blocks away. While we were in the area for an eating tour of Manhatten, we saw quite a number of ethnic eateries in the area.
All in all, as others who have had good HomeAway experiences have written...I feel like I never want to rent a conventional hotel room ever again. A couple of hours at this lovely, roomy and airy apartment was enough to make it really feel like a home away from home. I was actually a bit sad to lock the place up and leave it. I am glad that my first experience renting private "digs" like this was so favorable.
