Splendor Abounds

We spent two weeks here this summer, and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Arriving after dark, we immediately felt at home in this spacious yet cozy house. We awoke to spectacular views, enjoying our coffee on the grand, multi-level, slate patio that surrounds the house.
The house and its setting give off a strong feeling of romantic seclusion, which fits in well with the more relaxed pace of the western side of the Tetons, compared to the more tumultuous summer environment closer to Jackson . There is more solitude on the hiking trails, the shops are quieter and friendlier, and there is little waiting in the restaurants. We especially liked the Victor Valley Market and deli (a 5 minute drive), which became a daily ritual for coffee, news, gourmet salads, soups, meats, and Annie's carrot cake. The Emporium, down the block, made the best milkshakes we’ve ever had.
The owner of this home (Andy, to us and to you) was always reachable for advice about anything--hiking, biking, skiing, photography, animal watching, whatever. We really felt we were renting from someone who cared about our having a good time. Over 30 years in the area, Andy has done it all. Note: the chairlift at Grand Targhee is a must, with an entirely different view of the Teton range from the famous postcard versions. At the end of the day we soaked our aching muscles in the hot tub, often under star-filled skies.
Jackson town, Teton Village , the national park were a beautiful 30-40 minute drive away (close enough, not too close). We made an overnight trip to Yellowstone, up through Ashton, into the west entrance, out in the south through Jackson Hole, and over Teton Pass.
We told Andy that the house could use a written guide for rental guests. Not being a generic/condo kind of place, it has many thoughtful and unique touches, both stylistic and functional. So a guide would help. He promised one soon.
We plan to come back to this area and to this house. We can recommend it without reservation.
