I booked this house about a month before our trip out to Jackson Hole. Working with Andy, the owner, was both easy and informative. He helped me answer all of those little unknowns, and gave me tips based on my intentions of the trip. I had 14 people, all in our mid to late 20's, flying and driving in on the 12th of March. Our main goal was to board at both Jackson and Grand Targhee. Both mountains are about 40 min away from the house, which is nice if you want to ride both.
I honestly do not have a complaint about the setup. We were able to sleep everyone comfortably, and cooking dinner for 14 was easy enough. There is plenty of cookware available. Also, there is plenty of space available for everyone's gear. You can set up a mini workshop in the annex and start tuning your equipment for the adventure.
The hot tub and sauna is a must after a long day of riding, and the fireplace is a nice way to relax after all is said and done. I would highly recommend this property as a home base for anyone who needs to house lots of people. What is so special about the layout is that even though everyone has a place to sleep, the living room is where everyone congregates, which is so important if you are having a reunion type of trip. After all, the house is only as fun as the people in it, you want everyone to get along and be comfortable, which is very possible here.
A special thanks to Josh, the Property Manager, for helping me get from Jackson to the house. I look forward to working with Andy and Josh again when we plan our next trip out west. I think a summer trip is in line!
We are a group of 14 friends who wanted to explore the Grand Teton area and ski at both Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole. Our experience would not have been complete without such a great house as Teton Chalet. We enjoyed every moment we spent there. First of all, communications were were easy and the owner responded to all our questions without a delay. I should also mention that the number of singles in our group was not clear till the very last moment and the owner did great job helping us understand different accommodation options. The house is huge and has a lot of areas where you can sleep, it has separate bedrooms for couples as well as large sleeping areas where kids or single bros can sleep. Nicely equipped kitchen made it possible to cook at the house and thus save some money. Although if you are up for dining out, Victor has some nice places where you can get a decent food. Jackson Hole area is full of restaurants as well.
Getting to the mountains and back to the house was an easy cake. The house is in between Ghee and Jackson and it takes about 20-30 minutes to get to either.
I should also say that we enjoyed the sauna very much! This was a very relaxing experience after long skiing days. I found it especially useful after the third day of skiing where your muscles are so sore that you basically cannot recover on your own. The sauna helped greatly!
A word of advise about where to ski. Give Grand Targhee a serious consideration. It has PLENTY of snow. We got here on the 4th day after the storm and until the very last day of skiing (4 out of 5 days were spent at the Ghee, one was spent at Jackson) we were able to find untouched snow. You will also be surprised how relaxed, comfortable and inexpensive the mountain is. Parking is free and there is always space available. Food is cheap. Tickets are 60 bucks a day and they had a buy one get one free promotion all January! We enjoyed the Ghee very much and when we come back, we will definitely consider staying at the same house.
Dear Andy, my apologies for not writing you sooner.
Our stay at your home in January was a true joy.
I know we spoke about our desire to rent in Jackson
or Teton Village (closer to the slopes) but after
skiing at Jackson Hole and then Targee, we realized
how right you were. We’re ‘hooked’ on the secret…
Targee is a skier’s paradise at half the price and
no lift lines. Your house was most comfortable.
We were concerned one morning when we noticed a rather
large moose outside the living room window.
The kids went crazy! All of the amenties (especially
the outdoor heated Jacuzzi tub and indoor sauna room)
proved to be special treats after a long day on the hill.
Andy, I will be in touch in the near future to inquire
about a late summer stay with the gang and some additional
family friends. I remember your telling me that the summer
is ‘busy time’ for the house but we’re hopeful of a
possible week in late August, or perhaps the first week
of September. We’d like to experience the beauty of
the area in a different season. Again thank you for your
assistance and candid honesty.
Warmest regards, A. Brooks Lundy.
And I'm not only talking about the location of the home, which was absolutely wonderful but the area of Victor and Driggs as well. Exceptionally nice people who seemed genuinely pleased to share their part of the world with all. Jackson Hole was a short 20-30 minute drive and makes for a good trip a time or two but we preferred the authenticity of Victor and Driggs.
We were a group of 7 and struggled to take advantage of everything the property had to offer due to a very busy schedule. More than enough room, we eventually rotated rooms each night to make sure we got our monies worth. But without a doubt the highlight of the home was the Children's annex and the downstairs family room. The kids loved the privacy and large space of the annex area and the adults enjoyed the solitude of the downstairs area. And as an added bonus, the rooms where in opposite corners of the house... Well equipped, tastefully decorated and furnished, and all around beautiful property.
We choose the area based on Grand Targhee being considered a safe bet for early snow (we live in Singapore, so making changes to our plans is more of a hassle than your typical vacation) and with the tough times ski resorts are facing this year, the choice proved to be a wise one. Although the conditions weren't excellent the first few days, we managed and were rewarded with a nice blanket of fresh powder 2 days before leaving. Also worth noting, everyone working in and around Grand Targhee Resort are perhaps the friendliest I've encountered.
I would gladly recommend the property to a friend and will certainly do so. We hope to have the opportunity to visit again, especially during the summer for a bit of mountain biking, rafting, hiking, fishing, Yellowstone, etc....
We took our three grown children and their families on vacation from Nebraska, and my husband’s sister flew from San Jose, CA. We totaled 19 in all.
The description of the house was wonderful, but the house surpassed our expectations. This grandmother has never received so many Thank You’s from the whole family in such a short amount of time. They were all thrilled with the house and the beautiful surroundings. Within minutes of getting settled, they found their way to a lush meadow down the hill from the home for a rousing game of football. Go Nebraska!
The children slept in the annex, a large attached garage smartly redesigned for this purpose, set up with everything that kids from 5 to 19 could possibly want. A connecting hall separated their fun noises from the adults, yet we always knew where they were and what they needed. A door to the hot tub and to an extra bath led out from the annex. Plenty of towels---a perfect no-drip situation.
The house is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. Large closets abound, very good sized rooms, and a kitchen that easily accommodated our large family. The well-designed layout made traffic through the house very user friendly, avoiding the exasperated grandmother (me).
Despite our too short stay, we managed to see a lot in both national parks. We toured the Jackson area the first day, with a great boat trip across Jenny Lake to a beautiful hiking area. The next day, we drove through Grand Teton Park to Yellowstone Park, coming back out to through West Yellowstone, and back to the house through Ashton, a convenient alternative route.
It is such calm, relaxing place to be, though farmers/ranchers don’t relax easily, with so much work and responsibility left back home for someone else to take care of. Despite all these worries, this family was not ready to leave such a wonderful area. And, yes the rest of the world did go by.
Andy, the owner, wants to know your needs and tries wholeheartedly to meet them. He is very easy to get in touch with, and so enjoyable to talk to. He called us when we got back home to make sure that we were satisfied, and wanted to know if anything could be done to improve our stay there. How do you make a piece of heaven better? I loved the flowers everywhere! Such beauty!
I would highly recommend a stay at this vacation home. Stay longer if you can. There is so much more to see.
What a wonderful house in a spectacular location! I booked this house for my wife's 30th birthday party, and invited her family and closest friends to join us...10 people in all. This house had plenty of room for everyone to have their own space if they wanted, with enough gathering places that we could all be together without feeling crowded in. The kitchen had everything we needed for some great meals, as one of our party is a trained chef, and there was no shortage of activities for everyone there.
The skiing at Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee was phenomenal, and the towns of Jackson, Victor, and Driggs are full of the friendliest people I have ever met. The area also abounds with micro-breweries, so for beer fans like myself it was a wonderful beercation as well. From sledding down the private road, to snow shoeing through the forest we could have spent the entire winter here and not run out of things to do.
If you are looking for a Jackson area rental with plenty of room for a large gathering look no further! Andy has a beautiful home that he enjoys sharing and you can tell that he does by the time and attention he gives you when planning your stay. I cannot say enough great things about this house and our wonderful vacation experience, and I cannot wait for another opportunity to stay again!
Secluded end-of-road setting in an exclusive development of only a dozen homes, just 3 miles to nearby stores and restaurants. A short hike to the National Forest line above the property, with trails into Grand Teton Park. A beautiful half-hour drive to the town of Jackson, and about the same distance to world-class skiing at Teton Village and Grand Targhee.
