PRIVATE BUNGALOW WITH SKYLINE VIEW MINUTES FROM HOLLYWOOD

My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon. I liked the safety and open layout of the house.We also really enjoyed the privacy that we had compared to a hotel room. We met the owner during our stay and she was really nice and recommended a great restaurant in Santa Monica.

First let me start by saying that Marie could not have been sweeter or more attentive. Evidently they rented to a production company that trashed the place - especially the garden. Which explains the previous renters experience.
Marie left a very apologetic message for us before we even touched down in L.A. and sent someone over to replace the lawn the following day. She was available to us whenever we needed her - really important when you are renting from a private owner. We headed down to San Diego for a couple days in the middle of our stay and Marie let us leave our stuff and did not charge us for an extra day. Beyond the call of duty and much appreciated.

The apartment is small but cute and has everything you could need. It could use a little touch up here and there. The sink in the kitchen needs a washer, for example, but overall it was pleasant. The towels and bedding were of very high quality and the bed was great. We slept really well every night. No problem with the heat - we found it very comfortable. Nice to have a washer and dryer especially for a long trip. I agree with the previous reviewer that the back porch was pretty dirty and not that comfortable to use. We didn't use the hot tub so I can't comment. Loved the view of downtown. We had no problem with the internet.
We mentioned to Marie that the bedroom could use a dresser. There is plenty of room and she assured me they would get one.

Silver Lake is a funky little section of L.A. - kind of like Williamsburg in NYC. Some cool restaurants, and arty shops. We liked the area tho' it is not as upscale as some other sections of the city.

first to mentioned that we never met the owners either at check in or out! we spent 2 weeks there and we rented this place specifically because it seemed to have a very nice back yard and hot tub! first night was horrible,the flush was not working and there was no toilet paper provided as mentioned! we fixed the flush the first night after it made a real mess in the bathroom and all the floor was wet and full of water yet it was very noisy flush you can't just keep the water supply on, you must close the water supply to avoid the noise! when we arrived I found the dirtiest terrace and back yard ever.you can never set on the table of the terrace it is actually turned to the color brown from the dirts and spots and tree leaves although a nice big tent in the terrace would solve all that ... the back yard is not green as in the photo provided. there is no grass planted there as in the photo it is just a brown soil! detergents were under the steps of the hot tub, rocks in the back yard so I would never leave a kid or a pet there! we never used the hot tub because of a very important fact the guy who takes care of the maintenace told me the water in the tub is tape water without any chlorine added which means any bacteria or germs in the water from previous use would stay there for the next use! plus there is a very heavy cover on the tub you need to take it away everytime you want to use the tub! there is no safe provided in the house as mentioned here and when I asked the owner about it they said it is a safe area, maybe the area is safe but this is still california and the bangalow is in the back of a main house which is rented every other day to new people that can have access to the bangalow from the back yard and important here to mentione that the door of the back yard does not lock and when we told the owner about it he said we can lock it with a wood stick! when we arrived there was no internet and we lost 1 day of our vacation waiting for people to come fix that, we ended up having internet from the main house which was the slowest ever! towels are desperatly used! heating was not working! Duvet has no changable cover! which means you can be sleeping on a duvet that other guests used before you! I told most of these comments to the owners and surprisingly they didn't do anything! they only gave us the slow internet from the main house cuz we wanted to leave! I wish homeaway would allow travelers to upload photos for the properties they rented!
