She's American, he's French and together they've created a special place filled with the best of both worlds.
Owner purchased this apartment in 1996
Location, Location, Location. We wanted to be close to the action, yet far enough away to enjoy a quiet night of sleep. It's easily accessible to major attraction and highways. The house was originally built in 1920 and totally renovated to include the most up-to-date amenities.
The unit is equipped with everything you need. Whatever is missing is only a request away. We're always available to assist. One guest described their visit as 'it was like staying with friends'. On the other hand, if you are totally self sufficient, you'll never see us. Only know we're a text or phone call away.
Carla, your place was just as described and pictured. My son and I were there to site see. Her place could easily sleep 4 adults. However, one could conduct business and use this apartment as a short term residence. The living area was perfect to watch a movie in or have a social gathering with friends. Every detail of this place was carefully chosen. The owners live above and were easily reached. At the same time, we never heard anyone above us nor saw them which was actually nice if you are private. Metro was about 4 -5 blocks away. Eastern Market was awesome. We would absolutely return.
Very cosy, everything you need is there, including train tickets, umbrella, toiletries. Walking distance to main station
We're reluctant to share this review because we want to keep this place a secret! The accommodations were fabulous. Carla and Fred have thought of absolutely everything – from pleasing, clever décor to a well kitted-out kitchen, to lovely bed linens, fluffy towels and toiletries, a comfortable bed…even down to warm and friendly neighbors. Union Station, Capitol Hill, Eastern Market…all within easy walking distance. What isn’t walkable can be reached by convenient subway stops. Some restaurants are nearby, the little market suggested by Carla and Fred is terrific…really, look no further. I can't imagine staying any place else. This is our go to place.
The Studio was exactly as advertised and in a wonderful location. We were able to easily walk to all the mall and Smithsonian. There were lots of books and guides to local attractions and helpful advice prepared for us. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Thank you to Carla and Fred for the wonderful apartment! Everything that was mentioned on VRBO was there plus other comforts. The bed, pillows and towels were luxurious. Fred and Carla were so welcoming and fun to talk to. My husband and I spent a week walking and easily using the Metro system to get everywhere we wanted to go. Shopping at the Eastern Market was fun and easy to bring back to the apartment. We used the grill and outside patio area even relaxing with old friends we had not seen in over a decade. The Metro passes were a great help and easy to use.
I can not stress how easy it was renting from Carla and Fred, from early communication to the end of our visit. I would highly recommend this apartment and hope to visit again and bring my kids with the next time.
Great property, fantastic location. I love this neighborhood! 10 minute walk to the Metro, with a lot of charming homes to look at, people out walking their dogs, super friendly and very safe. Fun shops, bars and restaurants, in addition to the incredible Eastern Market with its farmers' market on Saturdays and open air cooking classes! It's so much better to stay here than to choose a hotel for your stay. We were busy all the time and felt like we barely scratched the surface of what DC had to offer. I can't wait to return!
