AGRI-TOURISM RENTAL IN GREATER ASHEVILLE NORTH CAROLINA AREA

Swannanoa House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Enjoy views of Moores Pond and Little Pisgah Mountain from this 2 bedroom/one bath Guest House. Recently remodeled, your vacation retreat has a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, wood floor in the living area, central air/heat, and a wood-burning fireplace. Amenities include WiFi, satellite and cable TV, AM/FM, CD, DVD, VCR, Gas outdoor grill, outdoor furniture. A two acre pond is ready for canoeing, sitting and enjoying watching herons and a variety of birds, or feeding the resident Mallards. There are miles of hiking trails in the woods on this 50-acre property, from moderate to strenuous. An additional highlight is that this is a small working farm, with various crops growing in season and a small French Alpine dairy goat herd. Two of our five does had 5 kids in late March (19th and 20th), the other 3 does will kid in early May and early June.

Located in Fairview, only 11 miles southeast of Downtown Asheville (6 miles from city limits) and 6 miles from I-40 and the Blue Ridge Parkway, this private residence is in the country, yet very convenient to the many attractions of the area, including the Biltmore Estate, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock State Park, and (of course) the mountains with their spectacular views, waterfalls, and tourist attractions. Every season has its gifts, from summer festivals and craft fairs to fall color, winter holidays at the Biltmore House, and spring blossoms. There is an Amish Market (bakery, fresh eggs, and other goodies) next door...across the pasture.

I'm not sure how I stumbled across this property but I'm so glad I did. We have two small boys (ages 2 and 4). We wanted to stay near Asheville but my concern was not wanting to get stuck in a hotel room with kids bouncing off the walls. Well, that is not the case here! Kids getting antsy? Time to put on shoes and see the goats, horses and chickens. Walks around the property never got boring. The goats are hilarious and sweet. The house is clean and nicely updated. Chuck and Sarah couldn't be more welcoming. Asheville is a short jaunt away to do dinner, etc. We drove to Chimney Rock and climbed to the top for amazing views. We walked to the Amish store on the other side of the property. More than anything, though, we relaxed at this little farm. This is a lovely rental to do just that.

There are trails behind the house for hiking. I got ambitious and took the kids and grandma for a hike. I underestimated how quickly you can get turned around and we did get lost. Thankfully we came out down the road in a neighbor's yard but it is a little scary to realize how far away we could have gotten and not realized it. We thought we were following the map Chuck gave us until we realized somehow we were not anymore. (definitely not his fault) Please just be careful and mindful if you do hike back there.

We definitely recommend this property and would not hesitate to go back!

Owner's Response: Great guests!!! It always good to take cookie crumbs with you when walking in the woods, so you can find your way back home ;-) .

My parents and I decided to meet in North Carolina for Christmas this year. We absolutely loved this house- its perfect. There were fresh eggs waiting for us when we arrived. The house has an amazing view where you can have coffee and watch the sun come up in the morning. My favorite part were the hiking trails which started right outside our door essentially. Well-behaved dogs can be off leash! My two labradors absolutely LOVED this!! Seeing them running in the woods really made me happy. It takes about 15 minutes to get downtown from this location- but its an easy/beautiful drive.

Wonderful weekend, despite the rain

We had a lovely weekend in Asheville, made even nicer by Chuck and Sarah who are such gracious hosts. They let us watch them feed the goats and llama and answered all of our questions (of which my husband had quite a few!). The house itself was clean and well-appointed for all our needs. It rained almost every day so we really appreciated the large TV and DVD player (also a Blue-Ray player). If you want to be right downtown and in the middle of all the action, this isn't the place for you, but if you prefer a tranquil setting in the mountains that is only a short drive to the main attractions (~15 minutes to Biltmore Estate), then don't think twice about booking this house. You won't be disappointed!

Owner's Response: Great fun sharing the first day with Velvet, the Llama, with our guests. They helped with Velvet as we fed the goats. We were all learning about Llamas!

I searched for quite a while for a pleasant vacation home that would welcome my dogs and provide a nice setting and convenient activities. Since I'm in the vacation property management business myself, I will add that my standards are pretty high.

I couldn't have been more pleased with Chuck and Sara's rental home. The photos don't really do it justice. The house is very attractive with many features nor normally found in a vacation home, such as a tiled sink for produce washing, a wood burning fireplace, and upgraded light switch plates. The house was meticulously clean and very comfortable. I loved the location...and so convenient to beautiful Asheville with its wonderful shops, activities, and endless number of unique restaurants. (Two Asheville "don't miss" tips: A Segway tour of the city ("Moving Sidewalk Tours") and the Tupelo Honey Cafe.)

The house is situated in a drop-dead beautiful setting with views of rolling mountains and endless wooded trails to explore. And a terrific added benefit is being able to walk over to Troyer's, the Amish market located on the adjoining property, to get a delicious hot cinnamon roll and coffee, as well as browse a truly wonderful store.

Chuck and Sara are the perfect hosts. They are glad to provide all the information you'd like about their French Alpine diary goat farm and nearby activities, but are never intrusive.

I was 100 percent satisfied with this vacation home, and highly, highly recommend it to others.
