Great family vacation

We decided on a Sunday afternoon to take a vacation up north. We contacted the owner on Sunday evening and booked it for the next day. We got there and everything was a wonderful! We took day trips each day and really loved the location, an half hour to the bridge and to Cheboygen, and hour and half to Whitefish Point and the Falls. We have 4 small children, 3 are old enough to get into the water and we really liked that part of the cottage the most. The water is very shallow for a long distance out, our 5 year old walk quite a ways out before getting chest deep. This is great for younger kids, but was tough swimming for the adults. If you have your own boat or rent a boat, it would be perfect. My personal favorite is the view from the bench and chairs, situated perfectly to enjoy a peaceful sunset.

Excellent family vacation spot

We had 8 people in our group--five adults and three young children. We had plenty of room. The house, especially the bedrooms, are larger than they seem in the photos. The home was spotless clean when we arrived, and very well-equipped with plates, silverware, pots and pans, etc. The owners also provided a shed full of lawn furniture and water toys. The dock and boat lifts were ample in size, well-maintained, and fully operational. There was plenty of room to lay out and enjoy the sun.
Located on the east side of Burt Lake, we had great views, and the prevailing winds in our faces kept things cool and comfortable in the August heat. The lake is shallow there, which was great for the young kids; they could spend all day in the water. It was a little too shallow for adult swimming, but we could sit or play around with the kids. The water temperature was comfortable, too.
We were just a few minutes down the road from Indian River, which had a McDonald's for the kids and a handful of other restaurants and shops for us adults when we felt like getting out. The kids enjoyed our visit to the adventure park on M-68. We were only about 30 minutes from the Mackinaw Bridge. We drove the kids over the bridge and took the ferry from St. Ignace to Mackinac Island one day. We had plenty to keep us occupied and didn't bother to go to Petoskey or Gaylord, which are also about 30 minutes away in other directions, and which have many restaurants, shopping, and other attractions.
We didn't have much luck fishing in Burt Lake, but a couple of us went fly fishing on the Pigeon River nearby and caught some beautiful rainbow trout. On a few windy days, waves on Burt Lake were a little much for our little 15-foot fishing boat, but on calm days, we were able to take long rides around the lake.
Trees and shrubs insulate this property from the neighbors, but if you make the effort to contact the neighbors, you will find them to be very friendly and helpful with suggestions on places to go and things to do.
The home is only 5 minutes away from a very nice golf course. We had no trouble getting a tee time and enjoyed playing the beautiful course.
The owners of this house were very easy to contact and communicate with.
I can't think of anything negative to say! Everybody in our family had a wonderful time.

We truely enjoyed our stay. Boat launch is only one block away which we had pretty much to our selves all week. Cottage was all it was advertized to be. Our grandchildren loved it as well as our kids. My wifes brother and his wife were here from Texas and they also had a wonderful time. I would recomend this cottage to anyone. A big thank you to the Curry's!

We rented this lakehouse for the month of July, 2011. We had a wonderful time swimming, boating, fishing, shopping..............................our whole family was able to be together for 2 weeks out of the month and we had plenty of room for 10 of us. Nice 4 bedrooms, 4 baths with showers in each, huge dinning room and living room. Excellent rental property and the neighbors are wonderful too. Enjoyed meeting the owners and will rent from them again next year.

Perfect. That is really all I can say. We have been going to Burt Lake for years (since I was a kid) and this is the best place we have stayed. There are FOUR clean updated working bathrooms, FOUR nice bedrooms, a great room, large table for family meals, laundry facitlies (key for my crowd) and a gorgeous front yard. The lake itself is spectacular, you can walk forever in front of the cottage and it is crystal clear. Fishing is fun, you can even see the fish ignoring your bait! My son will tell you that is only fun for a little while:) My parents came with us and we had a great time. Actually this year the weather was very cold and rainy but this cottage is so spacious everyone was able to enjoy quality time together but also to retreat somewhere else for some quiet. We liked it so well we have rented again for next year!
