Barri Gotic, next to the city hall:
The apartment's location can't be beat, you are in the hub of the city, in the Medieval part of town, called Barri Gotic or Barrio Gotico in Castilian; next to City Hall (Ayuntamiento) and the seat of the Catalan Government (La Generalitat). Las Ramblas with its flower stalls, bird sellers and living statues is not further than 2 minutes from the apartment.
With a main taxi stand and several metro and bus stops, you can reach any destination quickly and securely. For shopping and a night out you are nearby the shopping streets Ferran, Avinyo, Portal de l'Angel and the neighborhood of El Born.
On one side of Ferran is the city's oldest neighborhood of Del Call: The maze of calm and winding streets reminisce a forgotten history of Jewish Barcelona which is now occupied by charming antique shops and hidden restaurants. On the other side of Ferran is calle Avinyo with its hip designer boutiques, hair salons and bars.
A bit further down Ferran Street is the typical Spanish square Placa Reial boasting an interesting selection of clubs, bars and restaurants.
Follow any of the winding streets next to the 'Palau de la Generalitat' and chances are you'll end up in front of the stunning Cathedral de La Seu with its lively Placa (square).
