Overview

San Marco Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Property has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, kitchen, sleeps five

In central historical Venice, a few steps from St. Mark’s Square, the very center of the town. The apartment is on the first floor of a XVI century palace with private water entrance. It's very comfortable in size (around 1615 sqft).

It has three bedrooms (a master bedroom and two large single rooms), a fully equipped kitchen, a large living room with a new big sofa and two armchairs. It has two bathrooms (the master one with the bath and shower, the second one with the shower). It is furnished with antique Venetian style furniture.

The apartment looks out on one side on to a small courtyard with a Romanesque well-head and the extraordinary view of St. Mark’s bell tower and on the other on to three typical inner canals and a stone bridge right in front of the living room window.

Suitability:
  • Long-term Renters Welcome

Guestbook comments from the owner

Many thanks, once again, for the use of your fabulous apartment right in the centre of Venice - we found it to contain everything we could have possibly wanted. As promised, the apartment gave us great access to all the usual tourist hot spots (right on the doorstep) as well as being only a pleasant stroll away from the quieter but equally attractive areas of Venice. In fact the apartment is so well positioned that we stayed indoors one day and did our entire sightseeing from the windows - watching the tourists and various boats and gondolas pass by! Your advice on transportation from the airport to the apartment was also much appreciated and we found it very straightforward - virtually door to door.

It would be great to return one day - and perhaps see Venice at carnival time.

Kind regards,

Richard, Andrea, James and Charlotte

Fantastic location wonderful apartment

  • 5 of 5
This apartment is so lovely you will be amazed not only at the location (5 minute walk from the Rialto Bridge 2 minute walk from San Marco at the intersection of 3 canals) but how beautiful the apartment is!

The apartment is tastefully furnished with a fully equipped kitchen. The views from every window are like a postcard: gondolas sliding by, two picturesque bridges, I pinched myself when we arrived.

The best thing about staying in an apartment rather than a hotel is that you really feel part of the place. That does include little things like not having a/c running 24/7 but even the hotels in Italy don't have that and we found that opening the windows in the living room cooled us off quite well.

Walk to the Rialto Market in the morning to get fruit, salumi and cheese. There is a great bakery on the way to San Marco to pick up some bread. Sitting in your apartment, watching the gondoliers go buy while eating fresh melon and prosciutto with a glass of prosecco is a very civilized way to get away from the maddening crowds at about 2 in the afternoon.

The booking process was easy and strait forward. On the day of arrival one of the owners met us at the Rialto stop and walked us to the apartment. He spent a great deal of time showing us how everything worked, showing us on a map where we were so we could find our way home at night. On the day of our departure the owners came by returned our damage deposit and walked us to the water taxi.

I can't say enough about what a great experience it was to stay there. Truly a highlight of our two weeks in Italy!

DISAPPOINTING RENTAL

  • 1 of 5
This apartment while conveniently located and spacious has several problems. There are only two AC units: The one in the master bedroom can cause a breaker to trip and require a trip to the first floor to reset and the other unit is a portable, roll around model with very limited use. We found the hot water in the bathrooms barely adequate for one bath each. The noise from the canals in the living room and kitchen is constant and with no AC, was not relaxing.
I would not recommend this rental during summer months or for more than two people.

Owner's Response: We are not accustomed to answer to our guests’ review, they all have been since now so kind to us but this review deserves an answer. I am a little embarrassed in the answer ‘cause we tried our best to please our guests but this time it was very hard may be too much hard for us. We normally give our property to travellers who are used to travel but sometimes some guests appear to be more tourist than travellers. The difference is in the approach, you cannot expect to stay in a 15th century palace while you think you still are in your Houston compound. Our property as all properties in Venice is not fully air conditioned, air condition is in bedrooms but not in living room. Unfortunately or fortunately we cannot open holes in the external walls of our Renaissance palace to place a/c units. Can you imagine all walls of Venetian palaces covered with white metal boxes or with satellite dishes? Impossible! We found a/c placed in 45F a deadly cold temperature and they asked us to leave a/c on the whole day even when they were out. This is very bad for the environment but they said they didn’t care. Outside temperature was just 75F so not very warm. I tried to explain them that devices were not intended for industrial use as in a shopping mall and even in every decent hotel electronic key turns off all electric devices when you out. But there was no way. They spent a whole day out of their five ones in town looking for another apartment only to find that our property was the best solution. I felt so bad and so sorry and they appear so naïve that I offered them a full refund and as an alternative to find them a good hotel. Result is in the review you read above. As for the other remarks (hot water and noises) these have never been reported before by other guests so I leave you to the other guests’ reviews.
Different people, different culture and habits. The bad but fortunately also the good of life. Happens!

Outstanding Apartment - Living the Venice dream

  • 5 of 5
What a stunning apartment. Our family - parents and three children, stayed here last week. Firstly it is very spacious, and secondly very comfortable. The beds and pillows - the first thing to check, were great. Every main room, our main bedroom and one of the children's included, looked straight down a canal. Simply awesome. It takes about two minutes to walk to St Mark's Square, provided you are not tempted to stop for a coffee. We've been to Venice many times, but this was the first with the children who loved it. Carlo was charming and a real help. The restaurant suggestions were excellent - you get to feel right under the skin of Venice staying here. Venetians for a few days. Lovely. Thanks Carlo. Jamie

Everything one needs and central

  • 5 of 5
As a fellow owner of HomeAway villas, I know how difficult it is to present exactly what is needed, where it is needed and when it is needed, and then to get people to write nice reviews afterwards. Ca' Del Pozzo meets all of these requirements and deserves the reviews it has received. And Monica's tours are a must. Thank you Carlo, Monica and Luca for everything: we had a wonderful Christmas.

Unbelivable view, ambiance and location!

  • 5 of 5
We spent 4 nights at the beautiful home in Venice and couldn't speak more highly of it. Unbelievable views out of your living room and bedroom windows, A/C, and right between San Marco square and Grand Canal. Not to mention right outside your doorstep is prob. the best gelateria in Venice (Venchi) :-)

Wonderful apartment with stunning canal views!

  • 5 of 5
Like the other reviewers, we found this apartment to be a terrific place for our stay in Venice and we are so glad we stayed here! It is very conveniently located just a few steps away from the main Rialto/San Marco "thoroughfare," and it situated on a very quiet, picturesque courtyard that feels very private. The apartment has large, generous hallways, terrazzo floors, and beautifully decorated rooms, plus a full size, well-equipped kitchen, modern bathrooms, lots of storage space (and the air conditioning and washing machine is very handy!) Yes, the beds were firm, but we all slept just fine and loved having our separate bedrooms. Besides the incredibly roomy space and central location, the very best thing about this apartment is the amazing canal views!! There are at least 7 large windows that open up onto the canals. The apt is perfectly located just one floor up from the water so one can see and hear the delightful sights and sounds of the water and gondolas and boats passing by, but enjoy the privacy of not having everyone else looking directly in. This apartment is located on one of the main gondola routes and we just loved throwing all the windows open and listening to the chatter of the gondoliers as they expertly turn the corner, with an occasional singer serenading--the music echoing down the canal--the lap of the water from the oars, and the low chugging of the sleek private water taxis that would sometimes manouever past the gondolas down the canal...charming canal and bridge views right outside your windows, what's not to like? Our family of four (including 2 college students) rented apartments in each of the several major cities we visited and this is definitely the way to go and sure beats staying in a hotel! We did have internet access for our laptops and there is a TV (but we preferred looking out the windows). Nearby grocery store allowed us to stock up some food so we didn't have to eat every meal out, but still enjoyed plenty of local eating establishments.

Every step of the way, communicating with Carlo and Luca was great--they were very responsive and accommodating; they made the entire process very easy and shared helpful advice and information. We are just thrilled that they made this lovely apartment available to us for our recent stay, and we highly recommend this to others. Because some the furniture is antique, not sure I'd recommend for very small children, but otherwise, perfect for others.

Venice is full of famous, instantly recognisable attractions, the main attractions here is the city itself. This is the city built on water, divided by canals, bridges and without a vehicle in sight. A great place to start your journey is in the San Marco district where is located our property and home to the city's best known square, Piazza San Marco, and two of its best known attractions, Basilica di San Marco and Palazzo Ducale.

While this is a city made for walking, you won't mind putting your strollers to the test as Venice is a melange of Byzantine, Goth and Renaissance architecture, making it particularly memorable for those of you who appreciate art and beauty. Add to this the fact that it was the unrivalled trade centre between Europe and the Orient for over four hundred years which has also led to a fascinating mix of cultures and traditions.
